I know that Chrysler was very fond of providing cars to the studios: in Australia they were exclusive car suppliers to Crawford Productions...Valiants were on TV almost every night of the week. (They also produced thousands of excess cars on spec in the vain hope of attracting buyers...this drove the second hand prices through the floor, making them a popular choice for stunt sequences.)

Yeah, that part looked really odd. Obviously, broke the steering and control arm but good. Obviously an accident left in the film. But what was the original intention? Was the stunt driver supposed to launch the car off that stack of railroad ties?? That little section stands out as one painful blooper in an otherwise well-choreographed car chase.

That ramp at 2:17 through the glass was risky since the car had to land and then make a turn out of the parking lot with a parked car in the path. If the landing damaged the car it might not be able to turn at all and thus plow straight into the car. As it were, it appears it may have still not fully made the turn without colliding since they cut the shot. This was a fantastic chase and made a not so cool Plymouth sedan actually look pretty muscular. I remember the first time I heard this on TV at home. I heard what sounded like a chase so I went in the room and watched it. Then looked it up in the guide so I could try to record it next time it aired.

The car or cars doing the big jumps and whoops are def police package cars. Pretty much a 4 door Road Runner. Ive seen the 68 and 9 satellite police package with 318,383 2bl, 383 super commando. Fuel economy plays into Fleet buys. with 318s being the common ones. Supervisor and traffic enforcement tended to get. 383. Regardless of engine size theyre all Road Runner underneath.Looks like its one or two cars doing all the jump work till they kill it with that rail jump gone wrong.

Yes, maybe this was unique when stunt coordinator’s figured out how to stuff a short length of a telephone pole into a cylinder and shoot it out from under a vehicle causing it to roll. Was that sudden change in direction by the car in 2.28 meant to happen?! That looked dangerous. .

Nope, tire hit the rail: tie end rod broke. And yet another death to a poor Mopar. Then they just simply put another one out there (it had front end damage on the RH side). Mopar was definitely the only one for the job that could take the heat: I never saw any other cars wrecked like that. Mopar or No car for sure.

***** Hmm,possible. The tie end rod could have been fixed if it didn't cause too much damage to it and like you said the lower control arm... But these poor mopars were only a few years old: and still everywhere... so sadly: they were junked :(

***** Yep,it truly is sad to see. Me being a Mopar and antique car guy: and these 69 Belvederes and Satellites getting took out like this... I love to watch The Dukes... But when I see those chargers about to die,and those Fury,Monaco, and Coronet squad cars about to die... There's a sad feeling arising and I almost yell: WHY. Thanks Friend!

To be honest, I don't think that the Plymouth could match the Honda CB500 Four's 5 second 0-60 time or 14 second 1/4 mile. These little 4 cylinder Hondas packed about 50 hp in about a 400 lb bike, so the Plymouth would need over 400 hp to match the power to weight ratio of the Honda. That being said, it would come down to the driver's skill.
