Dustin had his chance early on but Charles weathered the storm and took over. The pace they put on in the first was pretty crazy and that could've played a part but i doubt it. Dustin is a proven 5 rounder. Charles simply had more tools in the toolbox and is equally dangerous on the feet and ground. Has there been a better time to be a fan of MMA?

February, whittaker adesanya gonna be a very high level mma, according to my brain its gonna be around the same as poirier oliviera. And maybe next month moreno and figgy if figgy cut weight properly its gonna be another fast pace high level showdown.

The disrespect and disregard for Oliveira's skills leading up to the Poirier fight was disgusting. People were treating him like it was a fluke he beat Chandler and that he was only holding onto the belt for Poirier. Little did they know.

Man with one hand, I completely agree. I love Oliveira and root for him. But during that fight with Dustin, I told my wife, Charles needs to work big time on head movement. He's got to, or else he's going to pay the ultimate price eventually. That said, he's the best in the division right now.
@cameronforbes26492 жыл бұрын
Head movement is part of the equation, but part of it is due to his style. Oliveira's kick heavy games doesn't lend itself to head movement, but it works well and is what won him the fight (Kicks and Knees to the body). His head movement is most concerning to me against Gaethje. Though he already put Chandler and Poirier away, and all three of them rely on a brawl and sprawl type of strategy, which stylistically is just a hard matchup for Oliveira.

For some reason in this sport people can't understand a fighter hitting his stride. We've seen it with Justin Gaethje, Jorge Masvidal and now Charles. All of them had some things to work out and came to a turning point and got better. This version of Charles Oliveira is extremely dangerous. If he wins his next two there will be serious comparisons to Khabib and maybe that might inspire Khabib to go for 30-0 which was his and his father's original goal. If he beats Justin Gaethje and Islam he will have beaten everyone Khabib did some faster and in Islam a fighter Khabib's team is claiming is better than Khabib, and Charles beat Tony Ferguson.

"shocking submission" bro how is it shocking that the most prolific submission finisher in UFC history won a fight via submission? lol the man is on a 10 fight win streak with 9 finishes (would have been 10 if tony ferguson tapped in a position 99% of people would have tapped in) and yet people are still sleeping on charles cus he isn't a trash talker and doesn't speak english. people bring up his losses at featherweight years ago, and he only has 3 losses at lightweight that were 5, 10, and 11 years ago, respectively. it's kinda crazy how his legacy isn't getting recognized as one of the best
