Any increase on the supply side undermines scarcity and abundance has no competitive, commercial value. This lowers - not increases - price points. From a business perspective, monetising scarcity is the golden goose. As for interest rates - historically, rises correlate to rising inflation; again, consequence NOT cause. Why do they rise? It’s quite simple really: you force borrowing to be more expensive than consuming your savings and therein, you drain capital out of overheated economies. Then assume the UBI is set at the living/minimum wage for a full time 40 hour per week job, which is circa £20,000 per year. Total spend per year is then 50,000,000 x 20,000 = 1,000,000,000,000 ie. 1 trillion pounds Note total UK government spending is about 1.1 trillion pounds per year so the UBI on reasonable assumptions would cost the same as everything the government spends.

Having worked on equality and diversity matters over the years, I think the overuse of the rainbow flag by corporate companies, is just a 'Tick Box' exercise and nothing more. The spectrum of equality and diversity is a far wider range and hard to tackle, so a few cross-referenced tick boxes, is a copout on dealing with the many issues of inequality. Red is an angry colour, that's why it has been discouraged in education for marking. When the Landlease sign has an angry, finger pointing 'Do Not', wrote on it, it would make me want to do the opposite, being the rebel that I am. 😁 Good stuff Charlie lad!

UBI is an interesting idea that economists and politicians have discussed for many decades. It would need a lot of careful thought, making it age-related etc. It MUST be low enough for working age people that they would need to do some work to have any quality of life, even if it's 10 hours a week. The guiding principle is that doing any amount of work is never disincentivised. The PAYE tax system becomes simplified because all income is taxed, no allowances are required. Some argue for flat single rate tax. The pension issue is dealt with at a stroke! There are no pensions because... UBI. The existing NI contribution is nothing but a con and an additional tax levy.

Hi Charlie, loving today’s video of my hometown Leigh. The building next to the police station is a homeless shelter that Wigan council have opened to get rid off homeless smack heads hanging around Wigan centre! ASB injunctions are dealt with by civil courts. If you breach such an injunction, it's contempt of court, which is criminal. It's still dealt with by the civil court that issued the injunction, but using the criminal procedures. That's an example of why police might be at a civil court building.

The inflation is the dillution of the currency. The inflation isn't prices going up because of supply chain issues, it's money being worth less because they created trillions over the last few years. That's why we're seeing inflation in everything, not just certain supplies. Lizz Truss didn't help but inflation was rolling before her stint.
