He was called The Silver Fox, my mom played his records over and over in the 70’s and I’ve loved him since then! His singing, his piano playing and his great looks. His hair and eyes are sexy! If I’m not mistaken he was married to the same woman all his life, what’s not to love about this man!❤ He has many great songs like The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.

Charlie was a very talented individual. He started out doing some rockabilly, moved to more traditional country, then to what some call countrypolitan (this song) and even made a jazz album at the end of his career (Pictures And Paintings).

I love his Floyd Cramer- styled piano. I had always assumed that it was a session player on the record. But clearly, he had the piano chops to play it himself.

My dad loved this song. I used to sing it around the house. My mom used to say that is not a song you can sing at church ok. Didn't get it then. How embarrassed she must have been when I sang it at Sunday School. I can still here my dad laughing about it. He was in the dog house for a bit. Great memory. Thanks to whoever requested it.

@@RockN2Country He didn't allow me to do it. I just sang it. He always said I was born talking and singing. He passed away 8/13/81 only 44 years old. I was 21. The last time I saw him was 8/9/81. We ate BBQ and sat in 1st row at Don Williams concert. I really didn't want to go but he was so excited when he told me about it, I couldn't disappoint him. I am so glad I went. We had a blast. I don't think I could have dealt with the guilt if I hadn't gone. I try to remember that even now and do things even when I may not want to. Life is precious and too short. My dad was amazing. I have my love of traditional country because of him. He also took me to see James Taylor, Jackson Browne, The Eagles and many more. especially before I could drive myself. He tried to enjoy my music also. I still miss him but was so fortunate to have him for 21 years. Thanks Don. NFL starts 9.10/20 can't wait. Also love sports because of my dad!!!!

One of my favorite artists. The Silver Fox. In the early seventies, I had tickets to see him live in Pittsburgh, but he cancelled the concert because of illness. There were rumors that the real reason was alcohol. He was an extremely talented man with ghosts. I love his voice. Another good one is "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World." Thanks for the reaction.

What a great way to start the day. Loved your reaction to Charlie Rich. I been waiting for this for a long time.I absolutely love Charlie Rich. I'd give it a 9.5. It is entertaining it's a ride. The vocals are good. The music's good. We'll written. But it doesn't tell much of a story really. That's all that's missing. I can't consider Charlie country music (strictly speaking )....his music got lots of crossover play. Music industry didn't know where to put him do Country made a place at the table for him....lol Don! That was quite the experience for you.... I figured you'd love it if you connected with it. Or you'd dismiss it for lack of instrumentation, no story, sounding too pop. I'm so glad you liked it. What fun was that to watch! Thank you for that.

He and his wife Margaret Ann married young and forever. She wrote a great song for him to sing, based one their marriage, Life's Little Ups and Downs. I heard it on the car radio in 1969 and it cast a spell on me that lasts today. What a singer he was. Charlie wrote many great songs. His best should be heard in the demo because it is his greatest performance ever. So please listen to those two songs and see if you agree they are his best ever.

The song Charlie wrote and sang Feel Like Going Home should be listened to in the demo version. It is the best version I'v heard, although I have heard it done by others, The Notting Hillbillies, a live version by Tom Jones and Eric Clapton, a live version by Trisha Yearwood and Bonnie Raitt, and a live version by Lee Roy Parnell and Shelby Lynn. None hit as hard as Charlie's demo version. It was just CR, his piano playing and a new song he wrote. It will break your heart and then heal it again as you hear a broken man speaking to God to announce he wants to "go home."
