And the people from the Candace Newmaker case got only 16 (serving only 7), with others involved just having to do community service after they tortured a 10 year old girl to her death and recorded it....... I have a question I would like answered, it’s something I’ve been wondering about for a while (I’m not American so I don’t know) is it normal for a President to hold so many rallies? Or any rallies after he’s become President? Because it seems like trump holds a lot of them. Thanks in advance!
@paddleduck5328

No, it’s practically unheard of. But he started his re-election campaign immediately after getting into office, probably partly for his ego and partly for the money, raising millions for his fund. He’s using those campaign donation funds to pay for his legal fees.

Yeah Stephen, I bet one day there will be a younger and more popular comedian lumping you in with Harvey Weinstein for something a decade from now. I lost a lot of respect for Colbert watching this video and I support the spirit of the #metoo movement. Women are treated horribly but this all seems crazy to lump GK and Al Franken in with Weinstein, that's like saying squirrels and Trump annoy me.

I know, right? Not only do they victim-blame until they're red in the face, they then have to go saying "What about the poor perpetrators who have to deal with the consequences of their immoral and illegal actions? Waah waah waaah, those poor successful upstanding abusive predatory shitheads." Got one word for them: Accountability! Ya chumps don't want the backlash? Then, maybe... *don't* do something so obviously wrong...? >.

That crap against Garrison Kealler wasn't even investigated to prove it's validity. He didn't loose his show over that, in fact he retired, then it came out, then they changed the name of the show, which was going to happen anyway, and stopped selling all of his merchandise. 40 years of great radio virtually ereased and ruined by an unproven claim about something that happend so long ago, and from what I read, didn't even lead to sex. What he did was no different than what happend in episode 2 of starwars when Anikin Skywalker ran his hand down Padme's back, hardly a crime worth being fired over. The 12 page letter is news to me though, but it dosn't sound like any of it was proven either.

Whoa whoa whoa, Charlie Rose didn't just harass people like a moustache twiddling villain. He only meant to pursue shared feelings. He never tried to coerce anyone against consent. This is the shit I'm talking about. This is why the #MeToo movement has become, if it wasn't from the beginning, just an excuse to shame even the slightest ungentlemanliness from a man if it should offend a woman. Charlie Rose didn't intentionally harass anybody. Harassment would'be been being told no, but persisting nevertheless. Charlie Rose, Louis C.K., and so many others wrongfully destroyed by this, did not do that. I thought Colbooch would've thought this through.

Am I the only one who is not entirely against the idea of a talk show about men taken down by Me Too scandals? Assuming it's not done to gather sympathy for the perpetrators, I think an honest, tell-all show that gets to the raw nerve of what these men did, why they did it and what made them think they could get away with it could be useful for their victims and also serve as a warning for future generations of men not to ever attempt the same things. It's not about forgiving them. It's about understanding the mindset of power and how to avoid falling into that.

Stephen, I love you, but... The Tom Brokaw accusations should be an eye-opener to you on this issue, as well as the signed letter from so many prominent women who have worked with him for decades, not to mention Brokaw’s own account which should be taken as credible until and unless strong corroborating evidence of this career-and-reputation-and-soul-destroying-accusation-by-a-female-out-of-the-opportunistic-blue comes to light. Because as we all know-Tawana Brawley, brawl wit’ me, ‘Bro!!-women are incapable of deception in any way related to sexual assault. Right? Right? Isn’t that the first article of the (unwritten-but-sacred) #MeToo #Constitution, that all women are to be believed, damn the naysayers? Well, so long as we are taking our morning #Constitutional together, consider this my #Preamble, as I walk you through a hypocrisy particular to CBS and its newsroom brass: a woman like Lesley Stahl, whose $2.1 million reported annual salary in 2003 was not sufficient to dissuade her from negotiating a movie bid/movie deal for her daughter, then working for Billy Gerber productions in Los Angeles, and torquing a news story deliberately, and accordingly, to cut out of the picture (or at least minimize the true role of) the teacher of a musical savant-without whom the subject of her reporting could not perform musically on camera, having been his first teacher and continuous aide-as she well knew-faced no apparent discipline for her pay-to-play wiles (and yes, her daughter and her daughter’s production company WAS the highest bidder for the erstwhile unmade TV movie, which was the “savant’s story” and no, not merley the “mother’s story” as she so rudely rebuked me, on set), which-I repeat-were well-known to witnesses and backed up by contemporary documentation available to anyone at the time with an Internet connection, while Charlie Rose was put out to pasture. Who, among these two, is the better journalist? I would sooner (a thousand thousand-fold) give Charlie Rose an interview at this point about my #MeToo experience with Lesley Stahl, which was not a sexual experience but a humiliating and career-crippling action with detrimental follow-on effects for scores of children with savant syndrome I have taught since, than EVER give an interview again to “60 Miniscules” and that whole Sea-of-B.S. crowd. Oh, by the way, you work for them, too... so I will never appear on your show, would that you’d ever want me to appear, because you would be associated with that very bad and immoral act which remains something you (a non-reporter) can’t even mention, let alone joke about, Lesley Stahl being a Sacred Cow and all-women-being-more-credible-than-men-or-at-least-not-subject-to-the-same-disciplinary-standard-that-would-get-them-fired-or-early-retired-fee-fie-faux-news-from-any-other-news-network-worth-its-moral-pass-the-salt-please, and all that CBS BS BS BS.... Other than that, your monologue is very funny. Except for the parts that aren’t.

I'd watch that show with the arsonists interviewing arsonists. Or burglars interviewing burglars. Those would be like those shows where corporate news hosts interview corporate politicians. Heck, maybe OJ could get an interview show, too.

i usually agree with colbert's views on social matters but can't join him in his dismissal of rose's attempt. especially, when mentioning keiler as an example of sexual predation, colbert clearly didn't do his homework. not only he doesn't know what predatory behavior is, but he's clearly not familiar with quite important details of keiler's story that disprove the accusations against him. makes me wonder how colbert would react if someone slapped him with inappropriate behavior crap from 20 years brought to light only to take advantage of the #[fuck]metoo witch hunt

maybe I interpreted the intent differently from everyone else :/ but I see this as a possible road to recovery and growth both on personal levels and on societal levels assuming they are not whinning "it's not my fault" but actually discuss the hard truths surrounding the incidences. It could go either way, but knowing the interviews charlie rose has conducted in the past, I am hopeful, though concerned..

You know what is sad: Only Bill Cosby is paying for the movement. A question that many people are asking, Why are the other men not being disciplined in a similar fashion as Bill Cosby aka with jail time?

I'm curious to hear the perspective of those with sexual harassment allegations. It would be good for people to hear a different point of view even if you agree or disagree. It could improve understanding of what is appropriate work behavior for both men and women. Plus, there is no way it's ratings wouldn't be through the roof for at least the first episode. Everyone would watch that.

This is why people should be forced to take a full week of vacation every year. I've heard this same story at least a dozen times in my life. Usually, sick for a week instead of vacation.

Don't forget to tell Republicans that even their beloved Reagan called in when he was recovering from being shot. The Trump cult will claim that he's skipping the correspondents dinner because he "cares about the average person" (lol) but in reality Trump is insecure and needs constant praise to feed his fragile ego.
