I stay in west Florence as well, not in this part but pretty close to it, and I applaud your bravery because I know a lot of people who wouldn't put themselves on camera. I'm originally from Bridgeport,CT but I'm here because my mother has roots in SC. However, I have a mindset to do better for myself! I'm 24, in my junior year of college, I work and the most valuable education I believe someone could ever have is book and street smarts! I've seen and been around a lot of black people who live in these areas of Florence and it's sad because they just settle for the welfare check or decide to hustle. Its unfortunate because we have so much more potential than that as a collective! I've always had a mindset to do better for myself, and I will not become a product of my environment. When I was younger I watched my mother struggle as a single mom and I vowed not to become a statistic! I'm currently focusing on making better financial choices, looking into investing so I can build generational wealth and not get stuck in the cycle of poverty.
