Hi Charlie. That's a performance, and production, of epic proportions. . John Farnham's live version, with the Melbourne S. O., will always be my favourite but this also is brilliant. Whenever people react to this song their faces light up, their smiles get wider. It's a message song, a rallying song, it should make people intense, ready to go and do battle,, but it just makes people so happy. Amazing. June'24. UK E ❤.

There's just enough Tommy in the piece to make it different while keeping the Farnsy sentiment and the big production, anthemic nature of the original. Thank you so much for reacting to Tommy’s version Charlie ❤ Tommy is amazing and did more than justice to our unofficial Aussie anthem!!! As an Aussie and massive JF fan (as I know you yourself are), I have to say that Tommy’s cover is awesome +++ and I think he is the only artist worth even considering to cover any of John’s songs, especially “You’re The Voice”! Tommy’s respectful attitude toward covering songs written/recorded by others is beyond, then you have the fact that his vocals are phenomenal, plus add that to his absolutely and completely insane instrumental ability, music arrangement and production ability….Tommy has to be one of the best well rounded artists of the modern age! ❤ This version gets me in the heart just as much as John’s does and that’s really saying something!!! We need Tommy to be much more well known worldwide!!! BTW… your reactions are almost always spot on…your comments on everything you react to come from your heart, what you are feeling and are really insightful…that is what music does/should do to everyone!

Have to disagree with you on the fact he is the only artist that should cover John. Delta Goodrem absolutely SMASHES this song as well as Burn for You. As a fellow Australian and friend I know John approves of her renditions too.

I'm a huge John Farnham fan and I love this song, especially the version with the MSO. Tommy has stepped up to the party with this version - it needs to be belted out with passion and conviction, and he has done that with spades !!! (Still prefer John's version, but I'll admit I am biased.)

Yes I have seen the Melbourne performance, Whispering Jack, The Aria awards and the firefighter benefit performance (which had the worst ever sound mix engineer involved.) I have also seen just about every other cover of this song as well,. some good, some not so good. And I have never resorted to childish insults to make a point about any of them. Bottom line is this: YOU are in no position to call me or anyone else delusional, we all have different musical tastes, backgrounds and perceptions. (And a lot of the others agree with my opinion). Watching this yet again (view it frequently) This must be the happiest anthem ever in the world, people have big smiles on their faces when it's played. . Masterclass of this song has to be John Farnham with the Melbourne S O, but this version is incredible in its own right. Great reaction to a great song. Tommy has a good voice and does a good job covering John's song. Of course, it's been done in the studio with a bit of studio trickery thrown in. Even so, I really liked it. I've seen your fantastic reaction to Farnsey singing this song, Charlie. But for everyone else, if you want to hear the original and the best, go and watch John Farnham singing 'You're The Voice' live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and prepare to have your mind completely blown. John is the GOAT!!!!

As a New Zealander 🇳🇿, we also have suffered from the Farnham. So in my unbiased opinion, Farnhams Original is 90% and Tommys'is around 80% very rarely is a cover better then the original (Disturbed notwithstanding)

His voice is a bit overpowering at times in his performance of this song.In addition to this the music is a bit loud at certain parts when Tommy is singing.I prefer Eric Gronwall'l smooth, silky, powerful voice when singing this song.Yes, Eric Gronwall also did a cover version of this same.His performance of this song was breathtaking.In addition to this Eric displayed more passion and soul in this sing.Please check it out.😅😅😊

Come on Darren, that's a bit harsh. John is still the king, but this is probably the best attempt at this song I have heard. Great vocals and awesome musicianship on multiple instruments. Before you say it, I know John can play a number of instruments, but he chooses not to.
