My grandfather HATED oatmeal. After he died, Grandma had him cremated. Every time she remembered something he did that pissed her off, she'd take his urn and put it in a big tube of oatmeal. After she died, my uncle called my mom and said he couldn't find grandpa's ashes. Mom said "Oh, she must have been mad at him again. Look in the oatmeal."

I had the utilities issue with past roommates who were a couple. They wanted to pay half of everything instead of thirds because they were a couple. My solution was to break the lease and each of us get our own 1 bedroom apartment. I talked to the leasing office and they agreed as long as my roommates signed the papers. They refused. Then they moved the TV into their room so I couldn’t use it without them thus “using more electricity than them.” Well what they forgot was that literally everything in the apartment other than the tv was mine. Even the microwave. So I moved everything into my bedroom. I couldn’t fit the couches in my bedroom so I removed the couch cushions and put those in my room and locked the door when I left. Well blow me down they signed me off the lease 3 days later. But they didn’t clean their bedroom when they left and it had about an inch of filth on the carpet. They refused to pay the cleaning bill. I paid half of it and the leasing office agreed it bill them the other half. And guess what else? About a month after we moved into our own apartments they packed up all their stuff in the middle of the night and abandoned their lease. If I hadn’t gotten out when I did I’m sure they would have done that to me leaving me with a huge disgusting mess and the whole rent to pay!

Never had a roommate again. They did to me what they did to you back in 1980. I moved in with cousin and lived happily ever after, even though they tried to stick me an $800 phone bill. The phone company went after her. They refused to clean up the apartment which I cleaned for $400 and they got nothing back cause the company gave me the cheque and I deposited it faster than eating a ham sandwich. Important lesson learned: don’t fuck with others because you might find it hard to.

What a couple of losers! So glad you got out of that relatively unscathed! I had a sh!tty friend when I was 19 who wanted to get a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with me and her boyfriend. Her genius idea was that I’d pay more than them because I’d be getting my own room & bathroom while they would have to share. And also that they could use my bathroom whenever they wanted because it “only seemed fair.” Fair for who, b!tch? Not me! 🙄 Me being a roommate was really just a ruse so she could live with her boyfriend who her parents forbade her to see. Funny thing is, he’s actually a really good person and I’m still friends with him to this day. (Her parents were just controlling, whackadoo evangelicals, and I’m so glad he got away from her.) Needless to say I am not friends with her anymore (she caused me a lot of grief) and while I allowed her to take advantage of me on multiple occasions, I’m SO glad I didn’t let her con me into such a horrible situation! I could see right through her sh!tty intentions in that situation.

Yeah I lived with a couple before, they were my friends, but yeah they tried to do the 50/50 thing with me too. Eventually they kept getting fired and stopped looking for jobs and I had to pay the bills by myself for a few months. Eventually we got in a big fight over something so stupid and they asked me to move out. I was happy to leave. Broke the lease, (they got one of their other friends to pick up my part of the lease) and I moved into my own place. Never spoke to them again. But I was just happy to get away from them. They ruined the apartment anyway so I didn’t want to get stuck with that bill.

Wow! You dodged a bullet for sure! We do rent a house that has a doddy apartment attached. Everything is separate except the water, which the landlord splits according to how many people are in the other side. Sometimes it’s unfair if 1 person is on the other side, because we pay 2/3 of the water, and they’ll have a bf/gf living there & using the same amount of water or even more than we do, and we end up paying for it. Also, the laundry room is a small attached room, separate electrics, but usually whoever is nextdoor will use our washer/dryer because they either don’t have their own, or don’t want to pay their bills. The circuit breaker box is in our bedroom, and I just turn off the breakers for the washer/dryer so they can’t use it. It really cheeses them!

True story my first husband just died last month, on my birthday (lol) and we have kids together (who are adults now) so they were going to his funeral (with their older half brother, yes this story just keeps getting better, and to stamp it off here I was 15 when I met him and he was 27 and divorcing his first wife) so I thought about going. And I was going to go with a full face of bright makeup because he hated when I wore makeup and would accuse me of going out to meet guys and called it “whore paint”. I ended up not going but now I’m kind of wishing I did. I mean there was a good reason I left him when I did and he made very low efforts to be around our kids. Where I’m going with this is I am fully on grandma’s side here. And more power to other women who decide to show up at ex spouses funerals.

My friends had to deal with a roommate who would use their dishes but refused to wash them. They told her she wasn't allowed to use them anymore, but that didn't work. So I advised them to use some anti-chewing dog spray on their dishes randomly and just keep some disposable ones in their rooms. It only took her getting a hold of one fork to make her never use one of their dishes again. The anti-chewing sprays work way better on humans than dogs, in my experience.

I should have gotten locks for my ex roommate, too. She didn't pay her part of rent, her boyfriend and I split the rent 50/50 but the deal was for all 3 of us to pitch in. Instead she sat on my couch, ate my snacks, and ran up my electric bill and never even looked for a job. She wouldn't even help with the cats while I was at work because they were "my problem." Like, girl the deposit is OUR problem but okay. When I confronted her about rent she threw a big fit and then ignored me. Worst part she was my best friend since middle school, I was disgusted by how she treated me as a roommate. I was so happy when they moved out. We are no longer friends.

You didn't give us a lot to work with, but definitely make is super personal based on what he likes... Maybe take him to a place he has talked about wanting to go, even if it is just somewhere near you since you are limited in what you can do. Or make him a picnic and take it to a special spot? Going to the place you met is always a good one but not overly unique unless it is super special to you two. My SO is super into old school video games, so if I was doing something similar I would plan a trip to Super Nintendo World once it opens, and do it there while we are on a ride or something like that. I think you'll easily figure it out when the time is right. So happy for you and I wish you two all the happiness in the world!

My one neighbor has been an a** since my husband & I bought our house 17 yrs ago. That neighbor has a lawn service mow their lawn every couple weeks & a few times a year they fertilize/spray for dandelions & weeds. Every year I wait till the dandelions in my yard have gone to seed then I gather them up to “make wishes” 😏 and watch the wind spread the dandelion seeds all over their yard. I truly cannot find the words to express the magical feeling of pure joy I get when I see their yard dotted in bright yellow. 😊

Found out from a botanist very recently that it’s actually much healthier for your spring and summer grass to KEEP the leaves on your lawn. They break down in the winter and become feud and fuel for the grass and the trees when spring hits. He said when you break up or blow the leaves, you’re literally tossing natures fertilizer.

For the roomate one, I would have bought a small fridge and some containers. Pack ALL the utensils, cups, pans, etc into the containers then either a) moved them into my bedroom b) have a container of most used items and temporarily moved the rest into a friend's place or storage. Move in the small fridge filled with all fridge food items I have paid for. Will this be inconvenient, yes, will it keep them from being able to get into my stuff, also yes. You will have to learn how to minimize what you buy and also make sure to not leave anything in the kitchen after meals, but it will be worth it.

When I was a teen (before cell phones, think mid 90's) I had a friend who would monopolize our phone conversations. If I tried to talk she would constantly interrupt. I wanted to see how long it would go. She talked for a solid hour (I timed it) never once did she ask me anything about me or anything. After an hour I had my proof I wasn't crazy, interrupted her just enough to quickly say I had to go and hung up. A year went by and I never reached out to her. I think she tried to call once but I told my mom I couldn't talk. She never once reached out to ask if we were OK, was I ok. What was wrong? Nothing. Never gave a rats ass. Years later I did apologize (more because i realized i hated her and felt that was wrong) and explained myself. She seemed to understand and I think she apologized but I can't remember. She was the one who once loaned me a quarter only to remind me I would need to pay her back. 😄 🤣 We were young and have grown alot. Don't stay in touch now but more out of busy different lives. (Sorry this is so long)

If she didn't reach out either maybe the friendship just outgrew itself? I used to do that to my bff (we met when we were 12 in 7th grade, we're 40 now!). I'd cut her off and it'd drive her INSANE!!!! Shed patiently (irritated) wait for me to finish then tell me what I did and continue what she was saying. I tried controlling myself but it was so hard, I never Really got the hang of it. As an adult, after I had my son & he got diagnosed, I found out I have ADD. 🤣 It made everything make sense so we laugh about it now. She's more patient with me now too lol but she's always known I dont do it to be rude. I had even tried writing down what I needed to say instead of blurting it out! And also, its ok for friends to have periods apart and come back together. Usually it'll be like no time has passed. Real friendship can make it through anything, you both have to want it tho. 💕

My granny had a picture like that. She had white Jesus, black Jesus, and a Jesus that we could never quite tell, but maybe Spanish. I asked her once why all of them. She responded that they are all Jesus and she was just covering her bases because she didn't want to offend Him.😂 She said He could be pink and green and she would still run to him. I miss my Granny. Reminded me of a former roommate. 18, mama's boy, newly out of the closet. As petty as they come. He had a giant sectional sofa we all shared. He got mad one day, don't remember why- (maybe I didnt do the dishes that his mama always did for him??) and carried all of it upstairs to his room so we couldn't use it. I was unfazed. The leaves are an issue because everyone blows them into the street but because my driveway sits below street level they always seem to find their way down. I accept it even though the leaves aren’t the same variety as mine, but I resent having to go clean up a foot deep pile in the gutter next to my curb while nobody else has leaves in their gutter. Fine, since I mulch them and figure it’s exercise. I did draw the line on the grass clippings as I watched my neighbor blow his crass clippings across the street. I have a xeriscaped front yard with absolutely NO grass in the yard and since I am disabled, it’s a chore to sweep, bend down to collect and move it elsewhere. This neighbor quit talking to me so I decided that I would play his game. I collected all the grass clippings in the street and spread it all down his driveway. Resting on my front porch, I saw his wife come home, stopped and stared at the driveway before she drove through it all. She went into the house and a few minutes later they come outside to inspect the driveway. He knows what he did and immediately looks over at my house and I grin and wave a friendly hello. He never did that again as he realized that I was going to continue to do it. 🤣

As a teenager I went to London with my mom and she just insisted to go into every musem there was. It was so annoying to me that when we were on some impressionist exhibition I started to be petty. You see Im from Czechia and mom can't speak english but kept asking me for a name of every picture to translate to her. When we first got Hulu we had the basic plan that had commercials and the choices were always the same commercial in either English or Spanish. I always choose Spanish just for giggles and it messed with my husband and my brother who was living with us. Pretty soon MY HUSBANDS KZbin and google ads started coming in Spanish. I HAD the BRILLIANT idea that this must be from personalized advertising soooooooo I laid it on THICK!!!! I always choose the Spanish version of anything, listened to Shakira and Enrique Iglesias on repeat for hours. (I took Spanish in high school but only know enough to get food and have basic conversations) And pretty soon my brother and husband were getting PHYSICAL MAIL in SPANISH!!!!! Then my bills starting coming in Spanish it was amazing! It drove them nuts for 3 years!!! They could not figure out what was happening!!!!! I accidentally let it slip at Christmas last year and they both resent me but it’s too late!!!!!!!

My only issue with the live action little mermaid is that her hair color looks orange. I don't care about skin color, but her hair is supposed to be red and not orange. A friend of mine moved in with a rather unstable person as it turned out. I told her to pack all her stuff into her room so the other can't use it. She also almost got her fired as friend works remotely and she trespassed into her room and screamed at her in front of cams and a meeting. I would have declared war at that point. Like get all my stuff out into a storage unit and buy a mini fridge and hot plate since the kitchen drama is also there. But my friend is also dealing with new diagnosed cancer and doesn't have the energy other than working. Unfortunately she lives too far away or i would have get her out of there.
