I like how the bride’s parents were actually appalled and reprimanded her. As a parent, you want to protect and support your child but you must also make sure you correct them when they are clearly in the wrong.

@@girliegdd46 I did the same, almost twenty-two years ago. I told my bridal party the color and brand I wanted them to get, since colors with the same name vary widely across manufacturers. I chose the brand because the prices were reasonable, I liked their version of the color, and some of the "dresses" were actually separate tops and skirts. It seemed to give the most options for my ladies to find something that they liked. One of my bridesmaids and my MOH ended up picking the same style. They asked if that was okay with me. I checked with each of them privately to make sure that they felt comfortable with matching. I honestly didn't care. They both looked beautiful. More importantly, they both _felt_ beautiful. If I had it to do over, I'd give my bridal party a couple of colors to avoid and offer wide guidelines on the formality of their attire. I also wouldn't give in to MIL's demand that SIL be one of my bridesmaids. SIL was sullen the whole day and frowned in every _single_ picture. She kept pouting until her parents took her and left early. It was great! I didn't have to deal with her brattiness or worry that MIL would throw a huge, embarrassing tantrum. Also, by leaving early, SIL missed several sets of group photos. 😁

My real family are the people who chose to be a part of my life; to support, guide, teach, nurture and love me. Seriously, you can't tell me that there wasn't a grey shade a little darker that would've blended with her morning grey and looked grey on op's darker skin . But c'mon who dreams of and chooses morning grey for their spring wedding color? Reminds me of the movie The Wedding Planner when J-Lo says that Frannie chose teal as her bridesmaid dress color, the color of...Gangrene. 🤣🤣 Also, I find it hard to believe that the bride showed no signs of her racism over the years. Did she hide it that well, or was no one paying attention?

I don't think this is a good example of, "Not seeing color." Most people don't really see color. I can tell you that as a white woman I burn in the sun like a rasin and that a black person wouldn't burn as much as me. Our hair texture is different but our skin color has nothing to do with the contents of who we are people. So I agree the bride was a freaken idiot and racist because clearly she saw color. She chose the "grey" dress on purpose. She knew what was going to happen and who it would effect. I guess you could argue everyone sees color here but I disagree because clearly the grooms parents didn't give a shit if they were adopting a little white baby. They didn't see color. If someone was really a good friend they would have taken the MOH's advice to heart. And also no one normal chooses grey for their brides maids dresses. 😂😂😂 Reason I say this is because I grew up with a mixed best friend. We shared eachothers experiences, how we care for ourselves because it was different but beyond that we could care less ❤❤❤ We still could care less. Most people don't see color~ not because were stupid but for different reasons than what you've implied

The scariest part imo is that she surely met her fiancé's adoptive parents, who are black, many times. What was going through her head when they were together? Was she always plotting to squeeze them out and get the "correct" white parents in their circle? This isn't a momentary bridezilla "the dresses aren't right!" moment. She revealed a very ugly side of her and showed that she doesn't respect or like her fiancé's parents, at the very least.

She was definitely on a secret mission. She reminds me of a bridezilla from a bit back who wanted to exclude her fiance's young daughter from their wedding. She wanted her niece to be the solo flower girl (he suggested that they both do it.) It came out that she had a vision of their married life where he became a "holiday father" who only saw his girl on holidays and that his beloved daughter would fade from their lives. Another Oscar worthy performance by a bridezilla! She acted as sweet as pie to his daughter until the mask slipped. Cancel, cancel, cancel!

She probably had plans, to alienate him from his "black family" & gradually pull in the bio fam, after the wedding😮! The dress color was a cover for getting rid of OP. JMO but, The separate pictures would have probably been, there was "an accident at the photographers" that happened to all of the pictures of his real family ONLY😢!!! "So sorry babes, these things happen😢. Well at least your real parents pictures came out good😢! ⬅️That's the beginning of her shoving a wedge between him and his parents, slowly sliding the word real in & using the word adopted often, whereas he probably rarely ever had😢! Then she just conveniently forgets to invite them to events but never forgets his "real white family" 🤫!!! 🚨😠My plans been foiled by that menacing OP🚩😠!!! Meanwhile 😎👍🥂🍾🥂😊

I won't judge whether it was racism or an honest mistake on the bride's part (at least at the beginning) but surely it would have been possible to pick a darker grey or dye the dress a darker grey to prevent it from looking white on the MoH. It would have been totally fine for her to have a different dress / colour and also the right shade of darker grey could have probably mirrored the hue of the Morning grey of the other dresses for her skin tone.

@user-ff5zm7ic4v the thing is the kids that grow up with these beige mums will be developmentally behind their peers. Bright fun colours are not only good for easy identification but they keep kids entertained and engaged for significant periods of time. When exposed to no colour this gets impacted and can make for a perfect ground for behaviour issues to start especially when going into a nursery or school environment with bright colours because they will all of a sudden be far too overwhelmed to cope with the bright colours on posters etc resulting on temper tantrums and the like. Talk to any child phycologist is you believe that putting a kid in a full bland environment is OK and won't negatively affect them and they will tell you it's not right

The bride intended this all along because she is racist, knows it, but doesn’t want to spoil her image. So she came up with this plan to make it look like the whole thing was her black friend’s fault and for her to receive sympathy at how could her friend try to ruin her wedding. However, the bride seemed to not realize that nobody is that stupid. This will backfire on her. I can’t believe the other bridesmaids would stay in the wedding party. They all should quit.

To me, it was clear what was happening. Racism comes in many forms, one of which is refusing to respect that someone is different than you. So the bride wanting to "treat her just like everyone else" even after she was told it would be an issue just screamed red flags. Then when she started talking about how the bride insisted on a super light color of Grey even when OP tried to tell her? To me, it was obvious she never wanted OP in her wedding party snd she was looking for some nonsense reason to kick her out. This isn't to say you're dumb or I'm smart or anything. Charlotte, I appreciate your attitude and reasoning on these kinds of topics. Many ppl like to pretend racism doesn't exist (kinda like OP at the beginning of the story) to protect themselves for feeling uncomfortable. You are definitely an Ally for spot lighting racism when it happens

So. Yes, this is five months ago but I found you just today because I was in the mood for AITA stories and I gotta say, you’ve had me laughing all morning. I’m simply binging while working a half shift. Such fun!

I can’t remember the last time a KZbin video had my mouth hanging open in shock, but the reveal of the bride’s response to the groom’s parents was just INSANE. Holy shiznit.

I am also a 34H/I and that is very hard size to fit/find. I've been bridesmaid 2xs for both of my sisters and had to have the top modified. So, my guess is that she Def would have had several fittings to make sure it fit properly up top. The Bride had nothing to say at any of the fittings??! Or pictures of the fittings in the chance she wasn't there for the fittings? This has to be much more than just the color of the dress. Smh That is just awful. But it seemed pretty clear it was not a dress issue.

My beautiful Black sisters, do not beg do not contort, and definitely do not lower who you are to appease people who don’t like you anyways🙏🏾👑. We must honor our ancestors, by walking away from people who use race in order to justify their hate against us.

I always thought that the maid of honor was SUPPOSED to stand out... different from the bridesmaids but obviously not the bride.
@Shetooktothewoods
@Shetooktothewoods Ай бұрын
Shockingly, if you’re not racist, when your Black MOH stands next to you in your white dress and the bridesmaids in grey dresses, it will be clear that she is not wearing a white dress. That’s the thing about visual contrasts, just like pastel grey looks whiter against dark skin, it will look darker against the copy paper white wedding dress. And in a line of identical dresses, they all look alike and skin tones get exaggerated, though that might just make the vampire aesthetic bridesmaid look actually dead.😅

I'm so glad to hear that everyone in the situation did the right thing. So often these stories end with everyone enabling the bad behavior. Hearing the brides parents disavow her nonsense and be willing to pay reminds me there are still some good people in the world

Mourning grey dress is the mvp of this encounter. Outed a TRULY terrible person and basically dove in to save the groom from being legally attached to a very gross person. I have to imagine the party in place of the wedding was wild.
