Harnessing Your Human Nature for Success with Robert Greene

Today we welcome back on the show the 6x international bestselling author, Robert Greene. Robert has had huge impact in my life with books like Mastery, 48 Laws of Power, and the 33 Strategies of War.
And in this episode we go deep on his newest book - and my new favorite - The Laws of Human Nature, a brilliant consolidation of the various theories on human nature - how to better understand them and use them to grow.

It is very simple...you slow down and observe him)her like he/she is the most important person in the world. And them you listen to him/her like you are in the most interesting conversation in the world. And then, you will see how amazing the world is. Long time ago, I decided that I will only take beautiful pictures in Flint, MI. It was the most incredible mental exercise I have done because I started seing all the beauty that was there. And it was a lot. Then, last summer I decided to take one picture a day of my flowers in my garden and put it on Facebook. It was the best gardening experience I have in the 25 years I lived in that house because I was there in the present moment enjoying what the garden was giving to me

I am listen to the interview and I can feel that Mr. Green is still in his intellectual/voice self and the suggestions how to deal with emotions are very superficial. From our most primitive moments, we learn how to control certain emotions because is good for the benefit of the group. The important thing is to be aware of the emotions. I still remember as a child opening the refrigerator in the house and see a cake with delicious nuts on top. I remember closing the refrigerator. Once again I remember opening the refrigerator and making the decision to take one nut and knowing my grandmother will make me pay for the action. So, feel the emotion and accept it and make the decision what to do. But probably, the most important thing is to feel the emotions and be friends of your emotions because they are signs of your soul. I am not an angry person like him, I am more a fearful person, and I deal with my fears and my feelings probably once a week. But the best way to deal with my voices is using the techniques I learned with Morgana Rae and her program of honey money and monster money. What you do with all your negative voices, that probably came from the adults in your life, is to put them in a monster, the most horrible monster and kill it. And it works, really well. You will not need to mediate or do anything else because the voices are out of your head forever. And all this thinking or intellectual analyzing is out of the window, because this things do not bother you anymore That is emotional work, you go to battle and conquer whatever it is, fear, envy, anger, frustration, and come back light with less weight. It is like the hero journey of Joseph Campbell. Do the emotional work, work with the emotions and things will be easy.

Isbjorn the interview’s just an hour long, some things are bound to be left out or just not come up in the conversation. He did mention that we all want to see ourselves as rational, moral, agents at one point, at least hinting at the problems with libertarian free will.

@@mysigt_ I have read laws of human nature and every other book he made except for laws of 50. Other intellectualls such as Sam Harris and Robert Sapolski has made noise about this, however he seems to take mor of a Friedrich Nietzsche approach to consiousness and its content. Which of my understanding is abit outdated and controdictory to the free will theory. I would like to see him and Sam go over this for 3H cause sam has a weird way of not admitting there could be benifits to feeling vengence or lying for exsample. His best argument for lying is if anne frank was in his basement and the nazis was at his door. He has no real time or more common/ realistic way of coming up with an good exsample which lying is the fastest most probable way of coming out with a good outcome .
