Fun > Thrill. Powerful bikes are a thrill the first few times you open them up but once you're acclimated to the power it kinda feels limited because you can only really use it in very limited settings and even then you know your license is at risk. A bike like the mt07 though you can enjoy in all sorts of settings. It's just fun.

Depending on who you ask, some consider my 890R a middleweight. It weighs the same as these 650-700’s, but has tons more torque, with a decent bit more hp. I think the mt07 is a great beginner bike for a mature rider.

I have an MT 07 and I absolutely love it. It's a joy to ride around town and in the twisties. The bike absolutely flies in 4th gear, which for most day-to-day riding is what you want. I rode a mt09sp the month it game out last year. For me the power is just unusable in traffic(and in general). The quickshifter is fun tho. I had a feeling that I was sitting on the bike instead of inside it like in my MT07,and my bike have better sound as well (titanium akra, no DB killer). I just wish my bike would have the suspension and quickshifter of the mt09sp and it would be perfect.

@@geevagyok Depends what you want from a commuter/daily rider. Many would argue that a 250 is all you need because its super cheap to run and won't overheat in traffic. I could almost agree with you, until you said you ride with an Akra and no baffle, which makes no sense for a commuter for a few obvious reasons. I prefer comfort on commutes, so adjustable suspension really smooths out the ride. Maybe an MT07SP with quickshifter... or just an R7?

@@Random_Tangent I removed the DB killer first just because I want to try it(and for fun ofc), than I figured car drivers recognise me much faster in traffic. @@geevagyok You do you, I had a Yoshimura CF pipe, without the db killer it always popped and crackled on overrun. Sounded glorious, but leaving for work early and getting home late meant it was obnoxiously loud for everyone in my neighbourhood. But aside from the "Loud pipes don't save lives", removing the dB killer can effect low rev fueling and perfomance - too much hassle to custom tune a commuter bike. More money to spend on tank bags, heated grips and a windshield upgrade.

Cable throttle is where it's at, my dude! No computerised throttle control has the same responce as a direct mechanical connection, and that is worth more than all the riding modes in the world. I notice it on cars too, my old Toyota isn't very fast and coming off something newer it takes a bit of getting used to, but I've never driven a modern car that feels more direct in its power application. It's smooth and immediate, an absolute pleasure to drive.

My commute is 45 min to 2.5 hrs depending on work location. Ended up buying a Z900 when the shopping was all said and done. There is still room in the garage to add an 07 later though! Nice review.

Bought a MT 07 2021 last year as first bike, very happy with the decision, i'm modding it, hyperpro fork kit, rearsets, a more Racing handlebar... I think that with this mods, it will be the perfect machine. I have the restriced one, and my best friend bought a gsxs 750, the Suzuki has a better suspension, but the MT is a lot more fun.

I got my 2018 mt 07 yesterday, first bike. I'd say it's perfect for a rider who is experienced on 2 wheels like dirtbikes. If I jumped on this bike completely fresh no way I'd keep it. But I road mx for 10 years and it translates enough. That being said. My God is this bike fun.

Trident is better in every regard BUT the raw feeling and bike connection of the mt07 I personally love the raw energy that the 07 has but when u compare those Two bikes, the answer becomes obvious. I know that Yamaha just wanna milk out as much money as they can with all these free laying parts in their factories that were on mt07 since 2014 but Holy shit are they cheapening out too much. Trident has better brakes, better suspension, better finish, better build quality, much better electronics, traction control, tail tidy and rain mode. All this for $500-700 more than the mt07 and its much more expensive for triumph to manufacture a bike given theyre nowhere the size of yamaha Company and influence wise yet they managed to create a much better, NEW machine for only a couple hundreds dollars more than the mt07. Its really a Declaration of dominance from their side at this point. It rly buggers me why yamaha didn't upgrade what everyone wanted em to upgrade. Literally the only thing that they needed to do given the bike raw nature is to fit it a decent suspension and better brake calipers, additionally maybe a better throttle tube and that's literally it. But no, they used the same suspension that has been mourned over by the community for yrs, slapped some LEDs and called it a day... Then upped the price by $400. Like wtf I loved mt07 since 2014 so its not a rant, rather a report of the current situation it's in.

@shuttzi9878
@shuttzi9878 3 жыл бұрын
@@DF3946 does it really matter anymore tho? Mt07 had a swingarm rust problem for yrs not to mention the handlebar and it was made in Japan. Cool, a Motorcycle made in Japan, what about it? Most of the work is done by the Machines nowadays and factories are being upgraded all over the world. BMW has a factory in India as well. KTM as well, since then their reliability improved by a mile thanks to partnering with Bajaj. Kawasaki is also establishing a New factory in India where they will be making High displacement Models. All depends on what technology will they bring there to make quality of their bikes better. In triumphs case: Parts manufacturing is done in Hinckley and Thailand while assembly is done in Brazil and India but that is true for nearly every model in their lineup. What matters is the quality of parts. Just go and look at both these motorcycles irl and u will notice a big difference when it comes to finish and quality. The Trident is doing what yamaha did in 2014, bringing something that is better and newer than what every competitor has to offer but since triumph is a premium brand, they won't cheap out on parts like Yamaha does. While yes, yamaha Engine will run for years on end without any problems, the trident engine is also made to last so don't get the argument of "made in japan" get to u cuz everything that we can see and know right now is better on Triumph quality wise. Quite a Long reply, i know but its important to inform other ppl who are reading this how the situation looks like : )

Wheelies are childish and dangerous. They are fun until you wreck or get your license suspended - then not so much. The SV650 is just as fast and you can pin the throttle without worrying about the front wheel coming off the ground when all you were looking for was acceleration.

Good review, thanks. Waiting for the dealer to get one so I can test it. Global supply problems!! However I have ridden the GSX S750 and was super impressed. Despite the weight it was very smooth and easy to throw around about town with plenty of go. However keep the taps open and it climbs to 112 Hp and 80 Nm or torque, screaming like an F1. But nice and smooth and appropriate for the city of you upshift. Way better brakes and suspension is rebound adjustable both ends and I think is better sorted. The GSX is reportedly more stable pushing through corners. Finally I like the idea of traction control for wet roads and poor surfaces. Looks, well neither is really outstanding. At only USD700 more where I live I suspect the GST S750 is a better bike for money. Probably all the handling and power you really need, so maybe gets the title ;-0

As far as engine performance goes, the difference between the MT-07 and the Honda CB650R is the MT-07 has better torque at low RPMs but the Honda is smother and higher revving. On my 2015 FZ-07 (same bike, different name), when I get into higher revs, there is enough vibration to cause a tingle in my seat and foot pegs.

OC. I basically agree. haven't ridden one yet, but when it was introduced, it could be had for near or round 6 grand at times and that was a steal. I also believe, that power wise, this engine should be plenty for 90% of on-street riding (and riders) (european perspective here. US might differ)

Wind Protection? You might as well hop into your SUV. Fuel Range is not the best but could be worse. Centre Stand? Never had that on my enduro and it was no problem at all. I think most riders prefer to have 12kg less weight, 1000€ lower price and an overall more nimble bike. I would personally rather have a fun "toy" than a bike that tries to be a practical SUV (high mileage, much space, no wind, space for a soccer mum).

I have a 2016 fz07, for wind protection I have a National Cycle V-stream, it works well. Fuel bar starts flashing at about 120 to 130 miles and there is still a little over a gallon left. Range seems ok to me. SW Motech makes a good center stand and doesn't drag when cornering.
