Nice that you found your first gold ring of the year. Congrats. I found a whole bunch of the 50 cal bullets a few weeks ago at Amelia Island - when I dug them up for the first time, I didn't know what they were or the history down here in Florida - did research, and now I know - pretty cool. I haven't gotten into the water yet with my detector, surf has been way too high for me. Keep the videos coming - you are an inspiration with your ability to return your finds to their rightful owners!

What a cool thing you do for people. I just found your channel and subscribed. 50 years ago, when I was a kid, my family was at a beach in St Petersburg and my dad lost a custom-made Ruby Masonic ring that his cousin made for him. He talked about that for years!

Hopefully I find it one day! It might still be out there. I find very old rings all the time. Send me an email with the location of the ring, and I'll put it in my log of lost rings. Whenever I find a beach that is eroded, I check my log to see what rings were lost there and never recovered. detectflorida941@gmail.com

I've been watching your videos and I have a few questions. What gear do you use, other than the detector and scoop? I've seen you put rings on a carabiner, where do you put the litter you pick up while detecting in the surf? Also do you know the rules for detecting in Jupiter, north and south of the inlet? Do I need to worry about salvage claims or anything?
@DetectFlorida8 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, I use a DetectEd pouch with a ring carabiner. It has two sections in it. One for "keepers", and one for junk. The junk section is larger, and that's where I keep my trash. I'm unsure about detecting in Jupiter. You'd have to look at the county laws

I don't get tired out there unless I'm at it every day for about 4 days in a row. I actually had a shark encounter in the water yesterday! A 3 footer swam right in between me and my buddy while we were detecting. There's sharks everywhere. People just don't normally see them
@TakeTheRide8 ай бұрын
@@DetectFlorida usually there are nurse sharks but beware that great whites have been seen off the coast of Florida in the last couple of years. Learn to recognize your sharks. You might want to carry a sharp pole or an electric prod with you in the water.... If you see one just stick it out so that it doesn't come near your legs.
