Hi Wayne! I'm no where near the level of these other commenters. I'm just a single, 53yo mom, who listens to your stories to take my mind off the stress of the day. I love the end: "I'm Wayne Tuttle, You're Not, This was Chasing Legends"! I always try to say it with you! Thanks for being my "break" from reality, while being reality... if that makes sense. Much love from CA.

Absolutely AWESOME storyteller and story! When I grow up I want to be like YOU Wayne! I'm 73 years old so it shouldn't be much longer!

Am being featured in a Popular Mechanics article on the Beale/Lost Dutchman this late summer, early fall sometime. Will send along a link when it's published. Still wanting to get out to the mines for some more footage if you are game in the fall. Can rally the boys together for a cool hike and we can work on getting this documented locally if you are interested in a Chasing Legends show on the discoveries so far. Lots to talk about.

Have you done the Bolas and/or Planchas de Plata yet? There's an example where the location drifted north across the border over time, too, but it's most definitely south.

@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 Well, looking forward to it. The Spanish Crown threatened to take the ore, claiming it was lost bullion because it was so rich. There was a court case, in which time mining stopped because why mine what would maybe be taken later. Court case took years, and of course the Crown eventually claimed it all. So, not that I'd go to Mexico, there could still be huge chunks out there since it was essentially discovered and then abandoned. Get your metal detectors ready!

Wayne you remember about the remains of the church i found .. i have not got a chance to search that site yet , but this church your talking about is very close to what i have in my pictures of that site ..i know there are32 mines near by and ,,they were casting ,i found slag in the area ..but i find it funny when you say the name Sonoyta . just like i said the Spanish had coded the names of their mining camps to keep them hidden . that name Sonoyta is in the same code as the word Hoya if coded it would look like this So Hoya ta it would mean Silver Ore the name of the Mine Hoya and who owns it TA , horse or Spanish....and i know where that Hoya is .. your story does kind a fit this site ..!what i find funny is if you had the site of Tayopa , or what the natives called Topira ,and you laid this story on top of that mining camp they would line up one on top of the other ..i think both of these stories could be talking about the same location ..

@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 not really , one person can't open that hatch way by themselves . it looks more like some kind of root saler ...you can't see down into it because the hatch is fallen into the stairs and now there is sand and rock fallen in on top of it ...

Focusing too much on modern retention of the place name might be a false trail. I might be coming at this with a different logic than the Tohono, but if a bunch of Jesuits mistreated my community to the point that we massacred them, I'm probably changing the name of my village to move past the memory. The development of water resources is possibly the best lead, because even if the mission compound was razed to the ground I can't see the water pools being destroyed.

I wish i could tell you what my best friend was doing at Ft Huachucka .. oh my god ....classified shit .. So we went in the service . I was the senate finamce chairs neohew and he was the city xouncilmans son . DeMolays ... The original mitaey civil service application for every miltary service man asks only one important question . Any membership in any fraternal organizations ? He wrote Masons... And he woke up underground with a red phone... Get it ? OK so my oath was guaranteed by OSS Wildman. And gramps folfed with Ike and wvery other 32 ° President . Grams was Huey Longs cousin and mom was a lieutenant nurse under COG SW Commander Ben Whitman . Emergency President of the United States . ....oops. I was guarding Kissinger and Chase just flew in from Xhina Accords . I am the pro gunman on arizonas largest cattle concern . Next Im guarding autopsy as mom and Col Whitman post mortem his son. My brother and Roy jad nasa contracts ...antigrav ... Men in black and then murder most foul. Think about it a minute . Its all true . I watched it
