Almost everyone is in love with love. But what is love and how does it relate to sex? Dr. Sean McDowell joins Frank to offer insights from his new book “Chasing Love: Sex, Love and Relationships in a Confused Culture”. Frank and Sean discuss everything from the purpose of life to the purpose of sex, as well as issues such as singleness, pornography, cohabitation and transgenderism. These issues are overtaking our culture, and Christians must be able to understand them and help people they impact. This podcast will help!

@@jimmyg1127 this is an argument against atheism and not intended to prove any particular god or theological position. It is a new form of Ontological Argument I recently articulated and sent to Dr. WLC for review. As of yet he has not responded. The argument is as follows: Premise 1: A god can be identified as any entity that is worshiped as a deity. Premise 2: An entity can be identified as anything that exists. Conclusion: Gods are entities and therefore exist.

Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. - Saheeh International ﴿وَلَقَد صَدَّقَ عَلَيهِم إِبليسُ ظَنَّهُ فَاتَّبَعوهُ إِلّا فَريقًا مِنَ المُؤمِنينَ﴾ [سبأ: ٢٠] And Iblees had already confirmed through them his assumption, so they followed him, except for a party of believers. - Saheeh International ﴿وَما كانَ لَهُ عَلَيهِم مِن سُلطانٍ إِلّا لِنَعلَمَ مَن يُؤمِنُ بِالآخِرَةِ مِمَّن هُوَ مِنها في شَكٍّ وَرَبُّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيءٍ حَفيظٌ﴾ [سبأ: ٢١] And he had over them no authority except [it was decreed] that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereof in doubt. The apostle Paul recognizes the power of biology and that most people aren't cut out for celibacy. He advises that people with a healthy sex drive should get married. Getting married was much easier than it is now. Marriage was often arranged, took place at a young age, and was primarily about economics instead of romantic compatibility. The alternatives to having sex within marriage were visiting temple prostitutes, committing adultery, pederastry, taking advantage of slaves, and similar things. Compared to the alternatives, marriage was indeed better. But that advice just doesn't work in a culture where we have a hyper-competitive dating scene, where marriages happen later in life, and where the meaning/purpose of marriage is different. You can't just go out and buy a spouse. If you're a Christian then the dating pool of fellow Christians is small; the girl at the coffee shop probably isn't a Christian. And Tinder? Forget it. As you get older the pool shrinks even further. Marriage isn't always an option. None of the biblical writers were aware of such a scenario, where someone couldn't easily get married if they wanted to. The irony of people continuing to hold to the "old model" of saving sex for marriage under today's conditions is that they just create for themselves the same problems that Paul warns against. He advises most people not to fight biology. Well, if you hold to the traditional view of saving sex for marriage then you'll be fighting biology until you are 30 or 40 or older. The Church has no solution for this. No wonder so many people decide to do it the world's way. The Church should do all it can to alleviate poverty and that includes Misère Sexuelle, sexual poverty. Perhaps the Church should suspend some of its rules on sex until conditions approve. The epidemic of unwanted, unhappy, sexless singleness is a crisis that the biblical norms simply can't offer a solution for. The crisis posed by the Sexual Revolution and involuntary singleness requires a State of Exception.
@BGLEE001
@BGLEE001 3 жыл бұрын
Well what do you mean by suspending the Church's rules on marriage? If it means allowing people to have sex outside of marriage then you're really suspending the law of God, not the church. Christians must asked themselves why they want to get married? If it's just to have sex then the marriage won't last. But most importantly Christians may have their priorities set wrong. The number 1 priority in all Christ follower's minds is to love Christ and love everyone else (not romantically). If you desire to get married you must ask why you want to get married in the first place. This helps you date people with more intention then just sex. The best way to meet Christians is in Church or Christian dating sites such as United Young. Yes we do have sexual urges that drives the desire to get married just to have sex is tempting but our main focus is to honor God and we should seek partners with that same motive.

@@BGLEE001 Yes, the Church needs to allow some kind of sexual activity for unmarried people. You are right, getting married just to have sex is a bad idea. Unfortunately, if you make it so that the only way to have sex is to get married then some people are going to foolishly rush into marriage for that reason. There are others who don't rush into marriage and then find themselves unmarried at 30, unhappy, horny, and alone. Paul told people to get married if celibacy was going to make them unhappy and sexually frustrated. But if marriage isn't an immediate option, then what? Paul didn't anticipate conditions where marriage wasn't easily available. The Church's traditional sexual ethic just doesn't work under today's conditions. Getting married is harder than ever. I don't see the Church doing anything to change society and the conditions of the dating market, so it's going to have to allow single people to have sex.
@BGLEE001
@BGLEE001 3 жыл бұрын
@@brothertoad6107 - Like I said before, it's not originally the church's view. It's the word of God. The principle behind all this is missed. So what's more important to you? Having sex or serving God? Are you trying to find pleasure for yourself or God. If you're willing to compromise following God's word than why be Christian if you just want to do what you like? The problem with sex outside of marriage is that it's not sustainable. When you have sex with someone, you are emotionally and physically attached to that person. You wonder why people get so messed up when their ex walks into the room. They may have hurt you but their is still an attachment because you shared the most vulnerable part of you to them, your body. When you give someone your body outside of marriage, they have the potential to hurt you and leave you because their single without any commitment to you. Imagine if one church just allowed all their single people to sleep with each other? First that shows that their number one love is not God and his purposes, but their own selfish desires. Second, you'll have a bunch of hurt and broken people with hurt feelings because he or she slept with me but then left me and slept with them. When you date someone you take the time to get to know them, be comfortable with them, and see if they are suitable for marriage to you. By the time you get married, you decided to stay committed to that person and love them romantically only. The best thing to do is to identify do I want to find someone that I can truly love and express my love to within the boundaries of marriage? Or do I just want to have sex to get a release? Don't change to word of God to benefit your own desires. Pick a side.

@@BGLEE001 The Bible sets the norm for morality but it can't address every situation or anticipate emergent crises. The Church has the authority to decide on the exception. We aren't in normal circumstances. The traditional Christian view of sexuality just doesn't work in this state of crisis. The Bible's instructions assume a society where someone can easily get married. Paul gives a choice of marriage or voluntary celibacy, but the Bible has no solutions for the problem of involuntary celibacy.
@BGLEE001
@BGLEE001 3 жыл бұрын
@@brothertoad6107 - The Church was formed by God, so that means that the church is under God's authority. If they operate outside of that authority, you take away the core reason why the church was formed in the first place, Jesus. They'll just be another religion with moral values that don't distinguish itself from other religions. I don't know what crisis this is. I see it as a personal choice. We are tempted with things everyday. Married people are tempted to sleep with other people. It does not give them the excuse to cave into those temptations. You have to ask yourself, what takes up the majority of your thoughts? What's triggering those thoughts? You may need to evaluate the shows that you watch on tv or the music that you listen to. If those things tempt you to have sex you may need to stray away from certain things you watch or listen to. Evaluate your friend circle. If they don't give you Godly advise, wisdom, or you're not comfortable sharing your struggles with them than you may need new friends You can separate Church and state, but you can't Separate God and Church. Without God their is no "Church" as we know it today.

I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples.”(Song of Solomon 7: 7-8) “We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?” (Song of Solomon 8: 8) " I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour.” (Song of Solomon 8:10) " Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.” (Song of Solomon 1: 2).

Hi. I’ve gotten this question quite a lot, and I get it, this kinda stuff can be a bit confusing, hope this provides clarity in your search for truth:) How would you prefer God send the message that Christ’s death meant eternal life for those who would follow Him? Firstly, we have to acknowledge that a death is the loss of a life, which has EXTREME value. Jesus’s sacrifice had infinite value as God has infinite value. It’s not like God put him in a coma and he only lost three days of His life, He lost the whole thing. Him being raised 3 days or a million days after that wouldn’t change the value of his sacrifice. Secondly, (going through some alternative scenarios) if Jesus died with no resurrection, he would have been forgotten about because there’s nothing special about that. It was an injustice, sure, but those were occurring all over the place in Jesus’s time. What if God sent an angel to deliver the message that they’d all been freed from death? That would probably convince a few, but they would likely chalk it up to a hallucination, and no one would take it seriously. Perhaps Jesus woke up a few years after? Everyone would have moved on by then and the message wouldn’t stick in society, resulting in what history would have called a quickly burnt-out cult. But if the guy you saw a few days ago be brutally murdered and CURSED BEFORE GOD came up to you, good as new, able to eat and everything, and showed up to a BUNCH of people (like 500), now we’ve got a message that is going to tear through generations, people from all over the world understanding the SIGNIFICANCE of the death that occurred for us to live in a similar glorified body as His. Does Jesus’s resurrection after 3 days make his death meaningless, or does it give it meaning?
