Since I started listening to you, I have connected with my back/chest muscles better than ever, and I haven't found any fitness influencers that have benefited me in the gym in any way but your content. Not saying they all suck, but seriously they do this to make an income. 1% pct do it because they actually want to help. But thanks, bro, and I enjoy the content.

Dude Mike - I'm so glad you got onto Fouad's podcast and I got exposed to you. Subscribed to your channel now...mad respect to you brother! You're the type of guy I love to support and learn shit from. HOORAH! Marine Mike 🇺🇸 💪

He's right. I used to be a big science nerd, Jeff Nippard fanboy, "progressive overload", chasing numbers guy. Once I started listening to Mike and actually learning how to connect with the muscles I'm trying to train, I noticed a huge difference in the way it feels in my workouts and started making progress in the gym again when I thought I couldn't make any more progress.

Jeff doesn't know shit from experience. Just spews things he's read or heared.

Yup. My buddy put me on to RP and I was obsessed with the new pr each week bullshit for a few months. Got way too worried about being all stiff and super "full ROM" and absolutely was not seeing good chest growth. Then I found Big Mike and 86d other Mike's shit real quick. Long story short I feel and connect so well now on everything and the growth and stimulus and pumps are INSANE. Hadn't felt doms for awhile until this Wycked style. It's Wycked till Death now.

That's another thing I threw away when I started bodybuilding. Numbers. I only focus on feeling and being in control. I've gained so much since watching you big Mike. Appreciate what you do

Fantastic points on progress in Bodybuilding. Efficiency, proficiency and the ability to connect to the muscle are far greater factors in muscle growth than forcing weight increases as your main pathway to gains.

Hey Mike, just wanted to thank you for sharing your (new to me) perspectives. Been lifting a long while (natural, with one cranky shoulder - nothing crazy) but have never been happy with my chest and arms, despite being a student of good form. Your wisdom on feeling the body/muscle for natural flow and analogy of the rubber band (keeping flow smooth, not going to snapping extremes and keeping the tension smooth throughout) - really helped me get in a great and different chest session today.

Such solid advice. I have been quilty of moving on from something that works to something I suck at. Why? I don't hear other trainers saying the kind of smart things Mike says.

It's really fresh to hear simple instructions so your routine becomes so much desirable to apply. T.y. Mike pl. Make a video on your diet routine if you have one or what protein to use.

Thanks Mike Feelings are measurable. I have been snapping an flipping weight for decades. As soon as implemented your rock on muscle and feel the whole movement I now am seeing results I never was able to get before quickly! So for me I can see what feeling the muscle is doing. Thanks for all you do!! Steffon

Most people neglect the importance of mind/muscle connection to “feel” the movement and contraction to a controlled negative stretch of the muscle belly. The number on the bar, plate, dbell, machine, sets/reps don’t matter, the ability to be in the proper position to effectively engage the target muscle only, unless you’re doing compound movements. Love the lower weight, reps until just prior to perfect form and failure. Great advice on having the student video themselves doing the movements and sending to their coach for constructive feedback. Thank you!

The end about finding the exercises and angles we connect best with has been probably my biggest improvements in the last year. I do exactly what you were saying quite often, I don't log book my training but I do log what I feel the same day and days after training each muscle so I can always recall what gave me the best pumps and the best mind muscle connection

The back rest on that machine looks tapered, which would help chest open up easier or maybe adds stability, idk never seen one pretty cool.

You want to be careful, in my opinion. Yes, it's about feel. But it's not ALL about feel. I spent years trying to feel my chest (and to a lesser extent, my lats). It was hit or miss most of the time, because the people preaching "feel" assumed that, because it isn't quantifiable, it can't be taught. Somehow, I was supposed to develop my mind/muscle connection through a combination of focus, practice and luck. What you've done is analyse (from your own experience) HOW to elicit the correct feel and communicate it. You're told to press with an arch, but nobody explains just how arched you should be, or how hard you're contracting your mid-back to maintain that arch, or how important it is to keep your chin tucked so that when you force your head back on the press it reinforces that arch. And NOBODY teaches that strange connection you've emphasised between palm pressure and pec engagement. All to say that what I learned most from you was that, if anything, technique comes before feel. You learn to get that feel (and the corresponding pump) by using proper technique. The science guys would still have something beyond the admittedly slippery, unquantifiable notion of feel to talk about if they understood which techniques elicit feel the way you do. Anyway, another great video. Thanks much.

I see it everyday at the gym. 90% of ppl are all about the amount of weights they can move. There is no control, mind connection, correct form, etc..
@DominoChild2 жыл бұрын
the equivalent to doing this movement is just using a machine press and bringing the seat all the way down so you're forced to stand to stabilize yourself.
@savibellagusekolahminggu14522 жыл бұрын
Sadly in my gym in Indonesia, many equipment is not fit for asian people, for example grip for seated chest press machine is too wide, and bench for seated shoulder press is too deep, so for skinny person like me feels not comfortable
@dannyhalverson512 жыл бұрын
Great video, thank you! Can you sub the standing chest press with standing cable presses while maintaining the erect position with the sternum and rib cage up with arms moving back and press on the same plane angle? I tell all my clients, the weight you lift only matters in a competition. In the gym, lower the weight, perfect the form, and increase the pump. Keep up the great work.

No!!!!! 🤣🤣 okay, not ALL scientists think that way. Feeling: mind muscle is measurable. Maybe not a quantitative measurement but definitely qualitative. Furthermore, for bodybuilders, it is most likely more important than quantitative.
