Were you towing a camper? What is the challenge you mentioned with highway 49? How steep/grade and ibis it just 2 lanes like 281? What about steep drop offs?
@LandingZoneHome2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is two lanes. Top of my RV (12.5 feet high) was scraping on a few limbs. Steep grades but only a short distance. Its a nice drive, just take it easy and enjoy the ride. Thank you for watching.

Cheaha State Park is one of the Super 6 State Parks in Alabama (which means it is a revenue generating park). The word Cheaha means high place in the Creek Indian language. They called it the sleeping giant.

We are looking into camping the upper in a few weeks. Thoughts on getting up and down the mountain, towing a 28ft camper with a half ton truck?
@LandingZoneHome3 жыл бұрын
The steepest incline is just before getting in to the park and inside the park. If you take it easy you will have no problem. Thanks for watching.

November 17, 2019, spent the day hiking up there… 65°, 5.3 miles of hiking, it was gorgeous… All the fall colors, this is actually a good time of year too.

We were at Cheaha last week hiking, that pool is making me want to come back to camp. While we were checking in there was a couple that was just coming in to use the pool, I’m guessing they are not too strict about that overnight stay policy on the pool. Geography Alabama only has 1 mountain which is Mt Cheaha, the stuff around it is foothills and the lookouts provide an amazing view of the surrounding area’s. At least to the north and west, not so much to the east and south.

Thanks for the awesome video ! We just now booked the exact spot you were in. We liked the layout and after watching your video thought we need to go check this place out. Close to home as we live near Fort Payne, Al (DeSoto State Park) and it’s cheap at $28 per night full hook up. Thanks for the great video !

Gary hope you enjoy Cheaha we really did. I also have a video on DeSoto SP which is another well kept Alabama secret. Thanks for watching.

Landing Zone Home one of our businesses that we own does a lot of work for DeSoto State Park. Next time you are there see if you can find Britney she is a park ranger there and super nice and helpful. Everybody loves Britney. We own an inflatable company and we do events for her a couple of times per year. They have a Halloween event every year in the campground and people come from all over and the campground sells out of spaces and we have inflatable rides and games for the kids.

Thanks for this video. I'm planning a motorcycle tent camping trip there for my birthday in early April this year, as long as the weather forecast isn't too extreme. I haven't been camping in years and I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the video. I appreciate it and it was very helpful. Just my two cents, I don’t prefer having background music. Too many different tastes out there and this was super monotonous. Thanks again for the video and information!
