Idk if it's just me, but looking at it just on KZbin, there is no difference between the huge medium format cameras and this $5 35mm camera. Just goes to show the importance of the person holding the camera rather than the camera itself.
@daily_pocket_review4 жыл бұрын
There’s a difference in person, you can see the grain a lot more in the 35mm vs 120 (same film). But for social media, KZbin etc the difference won’t be as noticeable. For making prints and books etc the extra detail on 120 is nice.

I just found one of these that belonged to my Grandmother at my Mom’s house. At first I thought it might be one of those valuable Olympus’s, but I’m kinds glad its not, because I will feel good about it being a running around on vacation camera. My Grandma lived to be 103 up until last year, and what’s cool about her camera bag is that I’m sure it was the one that belonged to her first camera because its an OLD tan canvas Kodak bag, and in it she has the manual to every camera she ever owned because she probably just kept replacing the camer and nothing else. There were also some handwritten notes about how to use it/settings. 3 rolls of unused Kodak Gold 200 that I’m not sure the age of but could be 90s or EARLY 200s. They had a Mar 2016 date on them. I think theyre unused because the tails are still hanging out of them. But best of all is that there was a roll still in the chamber, so I gotta get some batteries and see if there’s a few clicks left, finish the roll and find out if theres some treasure of a time capsule on there! I recently started devouring camera content on here and ordered my first real camera off ebay since a college photo class with my Dads old K1000. (Its Bell and Howell Dial 35 from the 60s) I am super psyched to try it. Being that it is a half frame I was a little worried that on our camping trips I wouldnt be able to easily switch over to a more night-friendly film to get campfire photos since 72 pictures is alot to casually go through! So the olympus can be my night camera. Problem solved. I was just so tired of taking pictures on my phone (and then losing them all with said phone every two years) and I wanted to take real photos again. I feel robbed that I didn’t get enough time with a technology that fascinated me as a kid. It didn’t occer to me however until after I ordered the phone that in order to stop using my phone as a camera…I bought a camer that looks like a phone! 😂 Cheers. Subscribed. Grainydays sent me.

This video really gets me thinking. I am not a person who has the idea of a high price camera could make u take better photos, but still I invest into a Mamiya 645 super with basically all my little savings after watching u reviewing it. However, after shooting 135 and 120 films for about half a year, these things really gets me into a financial crisis. And because I don't have a digital camera, so I need to stick to film photography to fulfill my desire of taking pictures and practicing it. So I decided to sell my Mamiya 645 and I am going to buy a Ricoh GR iii, because of its convenience and aps-c(big sensor lol and 28mm cause I enjoy shooting in the street a lot). And GR iii isn't cheap by any means, it even gonna needs me to add a little more money once I sell my Mamiya 645 in a reasonable price. Then, your video kicks in just now. That makes me thinking, maybe I just know that expensive equipment won't make u take better photos, but I never truly felt that way within my heart. I was still convincing myself about how GR iii is suiting my workflow yesterday, but this video really crushed that idea. It also reminds me the experience of shooting with my friends' old CCD camera, I was also happy shooting with it, it's handful, I like the experience and I did take decent photos with it, THAT'S ENOUGH! And the money I save up for the Mamiya/GR iii, I really shouldn't have put it all in for a camera, it won't evaluate you(as I am still a beginner), there are so many better ways for that money to go where it could hopefully create much more value as I am still young and about to graduate from college. Thank you Willem, you took me into photography half years ago, you've given resources for me to study to learn, given out precious ideas and philosophy about photography, I am truly grateful. Hope your channel grows bigger in the up coming 2021, all the best to you and Merry Christmas. :)

Thats absolutely an interesting conversation! I think people who have never shot a roll of film in their life can be easily discouraged by prices of cameras, which is why I made this video. Having gear that you enjoy using certainly is also important in the long run though. Regardless, digital is equally valuable. If you are discouraged every time you go shoot because you're worried about the financials of film and the developing cost then a Ricoh definitely sounds like the way to go! It's all about trying to create as little resistance as possible
@timma82214 жыл бұрын
@@WillemVerb Haha yeah for sure, it gotta be a camera that you enjoy picking up and shoot. Gr iii is not for me by now haha because of the price, might consider something cheaper but also suitable for me to use ofc.

@@timma8221 I'm also flirting with Ricoh GRi, Grii and GRiii but we all know how much it cost. I do have quite a few analogs cameras such Yashica Mat 124g, and others 35mm cameras, and it does bring a cost of shooting. Maybe trying to equalize this costs with our budget is the only way. Selling prints seems something that could help, I just started, made 2 sells that actually helped. I'm sure that when I managed to get my Ricoh Gr I'll still feel the need for shooting film. By the way Tim Ma, Do you know Tim Maia?? One of the best Brazilian Singers of all time, hope you like it! =D Cheers mates, thanks for your video Willem I really dig them. @chaaaves
