I just finished a 5-month assignment where I was practically living in my car and rental cars as I toured Northern California for several days at a time. Using a free 3-slot holder that I got from AAA (they sell a nicer version on Amazon as trunk organizer) I placed a small Sephora bag lined with a plastic trash bag in 1 section, used binder clips to clip the center section (not closed, just smaller) for handi-wipes, gum, and small bags of trail mix & nuts. I used the 3rd section for electronics - my fastpass, a multi-port USB & lighter box, and a pocket/slot card for binders that I found at Staples, to control my cords. The items in this section didn't take much space, so this is also where the audiobooks were stored. It fit perfectly in the floor of the passenger seat, and I simply moved it from my car to the rental car, and always had what I needed within arm's reach. Is it wrong that this organizer was my favorite part of the job? HA!

Five years ago, when my husband and I bought our home, I claimed Thanksgiving. Now that we have two kids I am soo glad we did. Even though I have to do most of the cooking and cleaning myself I am so thankful that this is a holiday I am not ripped between families and I don't have to drive places! Thanks for the video. My husband is getting his new work vehicle soon that we can use for personal use. His car is an awesome fringe benefit and great for vacations and traveling. We are blessed. Thanks for the ideas to help keep his company car clean and organized. It gets especially messy with two kids under 3 and since my husbands car is practically his office these ideas are great! Thanks!

We used to live in a state that routinely shut down its highways with hundreds of people on it for several hours at a time. I started taking an empty plastic coffee can, putting a large zip storage bag and a roll or toilet paper and small packages of wipes in it...just in case we need a port-a-potty! Seriously, what would happen if you're on that highway for hours and you gotta "go"? We moved away before needing it, but several of my friends thanked me for the tip once it happened to them.

Great video!! Gathering as many car organization tips as I can. One thing I have been working hard at is trying to pack healthy snacks and lunches for on the go. One of my viewers left me a comment and that said "Keri you can get rid of your back fat if you stop snacking so much in your car"...lol. Ouch...but so true. It would be great if you could share what you pack in your cooler or healthy on the go snacks. I also keep my coupons as well as my receipts in my car so that I won't forget them should I want to make a purchase or return something.

My mom and I both have little stone coasters in our cars. They're just flat and don't come up on the sides like the silicone ones you showed. Mine is super cute, it's hot pink with an owl on it saying "drive safely!" Silly, I know, but I love it. I don't know that it's functional, but it's a personal touch that makes me happy! I found mine at a store called "Trees n Trends" but I've seen them other places too!

I use the car coasters for beverages. They soak up the condensation nicely and they don’t stay wet either. We are vacationing in Florida for Spring Break, and I got a few of the coasters for gifts to being back. They also add some fun color and personality inside of your vehicle! 😎

Love this. Great ideas and tips. I do have a comment to make though. It's safety related. At 2:02 I noticed you have a door hook where you hang your umbrella on and it's on the back of the passenger seat. The hook worries me because in a collision it can injure someone. The hook part sticks out and i can't help but worry that it can cause some real damage in a collision. Just something to think about especially if you have your sweet little boy riding in the back seat. God bless! :-)

I am in the UK so no thanksgiving here, but last month I traveled 300 miles each way to see my brother and his family for a few days. In a few weeks we are off to see my family who are 100 miles away to exchange gifts, then for Christmas we are going back to the family, but staying with my in laws for Christmas. My sister in law has hired a huge country house just outside where both sides of our family live, so we can all Christmas together. My big tip for when we travel is to keep a pack of boiled sweets in the glove box or door pocket. I am disabled and on medication, so my meds are always with us, but a side effect of my meds is a very dry mouth. I use the sweets to combat it. I also have specific playlists on my iPod for long journeys (Spotify is great for this) so that nobody has to mess with the stereo.

Hi! We travel a lot in my van. Lacrosse tournaments mostly. I use my van to store tons of things. In my trunk I use a shoe organizer. I hook a bungee cord in the bottom half so it is not dangling too. I am always prepared. I keep Ponchos, pocket hand warmers, trash bags, umbrellas, toiletries, bug sprays, sunblock, snacks, wipes, paper towels, rags, first aid supplies and more in it. Then I also have a mesh shower caddy that hang from target. In that I keep some supplies to keep my 3 busy. Mad Libs, magazines and DVD's. Since we are away so much I have really tweaked what works for us. Love your tip on using the command hook in the car. Never thought to do that. Also, the shock vac is a great idea too. I use to waste so many quarters at the car wash. I keep my shock vac handy to clean up my van between trips. Always clean and ready to go. :) Thank you for sharing! :)

I love the video player idea. Definitely cheaper than getting that as an add-on when buying the car. Something I always keep in the doors (passenger and driver sides) are napkins. Never know when one of our noses will start running unexpectedly; especially on those cold winter mornings. I always get handed way more than I need when eating out, so that's what happens with the extras (I suppose tissues are softer, but the napkins are free). Those have been a lifesaver. I also store my grocery bags inside each other, kind of like those Russian dolls. They stay together, I only use what I need of them, and they take up very little space in the car. I have found it easier at check out. The cashier can just fill one, pull it out and fill the next one.

Awesome tips, most we already do too. We are already in Southwest Florida and headed up to the Tampa Bay area to see all our family. It's crazy how warm it's been, hoping we get a few cooler days there. My extra tips is to have a lint roller on hand for when you're away from your shop-vac. It's so good at getting up crumbs and dog hair. Also next to the carseat and the door I usually wedge in a pack of wipes for messy hands, runny noses, etc. It's really great when loading and unloading kids to have some wipes right there, not having to dig through the bag I carry and use up the ones I need when we leave the car. Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a portable DVD player for the car but the strap that held it up broke & my son hates being in the car! Maybe that will work best! We aren't going any where for Thanksgiving, but for an early Christmas present we are taking my son to Disney World! YAY! Luckily we live in Florida, so we are only about two hours away from Disney, so it'll be a short drive. I would love to be somewhere nice and cold for Thanksgiving though. Florida is just now starting to cool down some, but I'm still in shorts and flip flops. I love your videos. Looking forward to the next one!

Happy Thanksgiving! We are traveling with my 5 year old and 4 year old from AR to TX! (how exaustinggggg) So I'm super excited to use some of these organization ideas to clean up the jeep and get a little room to stash some busy-hand things for the boys.

Hi lovely! As always, great tips! Yeah- sorry to disappoint but we are home for the holidays and honestly that is how I like it. I love the Indiana December snow and all the fun festivities that come around this time of year. For Thanksgiving, I am hosting for my family! Christmas we split our time between my immediate family, my husband's, and my step-Family, but we don't travel anymore than an hour from the city. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

Ah the realities of motherhood! Gotta love it. I really liked the idea of a puke bag. I totally forgot that last road trip and boy did we pay! No more chocolate milk allowed in the car on road trips. *shiver* This Thanksgiving we are heading from Portland to Idaho to visit family. All the siblings, their spouses, their kids AND their pets! Talk about a full house! Gonna be fun though!
