CHEAP VS EXPENSIVE : IRON REMOVERS (Eagle One vs CarPro)!! In this video, we compare two popular iron removers that are on opposite ends of the price spectrum. Iron removers can also be called fallout removers.
The Eagle One Black & Plasti-Coat Triple Cleaning Foam VS CarPro IronX. Eagle One’s iron remover is a general public product, coasts roughly $5 USD and is available in big box stores and auto parts stores. Washing alone can’t remove all of the embedded contaminants from your vehicle’s clear coat, or on your vehicle’s wheels. One of the products that should be used is a chemical cleaners known as an iron remover.
Simply spray the iron remover directly onto any exterior surface, wait a few minutes for it to change color as it dissolves ferrous particles, and rinse. This will leave your paint glossy, smooth, and bright. Iron removers help remove brake dust, rail dust, industrial fallout, etc. Iron removers make preparing your vehicle for polish easier.

Hey Pan, is there any need to rinse the car first. Or should I wash the car first? Or apply the iron remover then wash the car?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 5 жыл бұрын
You would wash the car first. When you are done rinsing, you have two options. Fully dry the paint, then spray the iron remover, then rinse again. Or, while the paint is still wet, spray the iron remover, then rinse. If you want to save time and be more efficient, you spray on the wet paint. See how I do this process when I fully detail a car: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp2maqivgL2mbrM

Salut Pan. Pour ma part le Iron X est plus efficace pour une compagnie de Detailling (une application et c'est rapide), mais pour un particulier le Eagle One est parfait. This would be the Eagle One every day of the week for me! Why would we keep on supporting these high dollar brands that have been ripping us all this time for pretty much nothing...?! Plus I think this tends to keep people away from the detailing hobby as they would see it as expensive and kind of esoteric in a way... Thumbs up 👍 for this great demo and this once again great detailing vid from Pan TheOrganizer! Would have been even better if each product was tried on the other's side to see if anything still reacts there. Just my two cents... Thank you Pan! Keep up the good work!

I would say the IronX did a better job at dissolving Iron Oxide, also known as rust. This will allow your clay bar to remove the iron particles out of the clear coat easier. These product do not melt iron (common misconception) these products dissolve the Iron Oxide (what you see as purple) around the iron. The Iron Oxide causes the iron particles to get stuck in your clear coat. As the iron rust in the clear coat, the rusting expands and causes the iron to get lodged into the clear coat.

Honestly, they both did a equal comparison on both body and Rims. For me personally, I thought car pro kick was gonna take the lead. The comparison was ideally equal on both products. The closest I could find of the eagle is the triple cleaning foaming wheel cleaner now in an orange bottle. I ordered it at NAPA auto parts. Eagle is hard to find in Southern California. I tired it on some of the paint next along with meguiars iron remover. The eagle I could see nothing. Obviously not the same product or they changed the mix. The meguiars had a lot of purple. But 25 dollars a quart is extremely expensive for a huge truck needing two quarts. Any future purchases will be gallon size form whoever is most reasonable.

Ceramic brakes wont cause purple on wheel like the higher end sports cars. As well the rear of the car gets more "iron" due to exhaust not brakes. Usually the exhaust system breaking down and any fall out being kicked up.

I think the price difference between the two is the level of safety of the product. I would trust Iron X on a customers ceramic coated car more than eagle one just because of Carpros knowledge of ceramic coatings. They may do similar jobs but the cost cutting has to come from somewhere.

Hey Pan I’ve always been curious if that stuff actually removes ALL the iron or if it’s just a neat feel-good trick because there are usually some small specks left behind. Maybe an idea for another test? A follow up application for them to see how thorough they are and how much they do dissolve, if not all.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 5 жыл бұрын
Iron removers are a must for removing iron particles (orange rust spots on paintwork) but they won't necessarily remove 100% of the specks in one pass. Sometimes you need multiple passes if there is heavy contamination. Plus, you will typically follow the chemical decon by a full claybar stage, which should pickup any remaining particles. One trick to increase the performance of the iron remover is to spray it on a clean and dry vehicle. So you wash and dry your car, then you spray the iron remover. Let it dwell a few minutes (NEVER let it dry though!) and then work it in with a mitt like I did in this recent high end detailing video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp2maqivgL2mbrM

What makes the eagle one shine is that it also removes other grease, tar, and dirt because it is a wheel cleaner. Pan, thank you for another excellent video. Eagle One is sold out because of you. LOL!!!! My question is, the ads for these say to stay away from trim and metallic surfaces and my 2017 Silverado has the plastic grills and chrome headlight bezels, chrome bumpers, chrome side steps with black plastic treads and polished aluminum/chrome wheels. How bad will I hurt these surfaces or should I not use these products at all? The truck was never decontaminated before paint protection was put on but it's always been super smooth, glossy and beads like crazy having used so many products you have mentioned. the truck has 16,000 miles and was garaged the first year so it hasn't seen much since new. I was hoping to get even better gloss. Color is also black. Thanks!

I have a 2016 Cadillac SRX. It is Silver and all around the the bottom of the car is black plastic cladding. Other Iron removers caution about its use due to staining the black cladding. Is that same concern valid using Eagle One Black & Plast-Coat? Is there less chance for staining with Eagle's formulation?

Yeah I was stunned to see that this car which had never really been properly detailed in the past 6 years had barely any iron deposits on the wheels, yet the paintwork was soooooo contaminated. German cars typically have high performance brakes and our cars get brake dust like crazy. My BMW M550i with M Performance brakes needs a wash twice weekly. :)

I understand their use is in the name “iron remover”. But, when are you needing to do this and is this completely stripping everything off the clear coat and is it safe on all clear coats? Thx
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 5 жыл бұрын
Yes it's clear coat safe. IronX is even pH neutral. You should be using an iron remover at least twice yearly, in my opinion, to remove iron particles as par of the paint decontamination steps (before a claybar) to remove contaminants and prepare your clear coat to receive some protection: waxes, sealants, coatings, etc. Watch where this falls into during an entire vehicle prep in the spring for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4u9XoOfrteUl9U

To be honest, at least on camera, they didn't look much different to me. For the price point difference, I'd go Eagle One. If necessary you could do it twice and still be ahead of the game. But they looked the same.

Hey Pan, if you both clay and use iron x, which one should go first, the clay or iron x?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 5 жыл бұрын
Typically, the best strategy is to do the chemical decon first (IronX) then follow that with the claybar. Like in this video where you see me fully detail a BMW: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp2maqivgL2mbrM

using iron remover take place of using a clay bar? Also do you wash the vehicle before you do this step?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 4 жыл бұрын
No. Claybar removes other embeded contaminants, and iron removers remove iron particles. Yes you wash your vehicle before this step, as the products work better on a clean surface as they can focus on what's embeded in the clear coat instead of also fighting loose dirt.
@masterstacker2833

Yes, IronX is more expensive but it is a proven product. Wheels are tough and you can use virtually anything on them. But I'd be inclined to use the single-purpose IronX on my paint and sleep better. You don't decontaminate your paint that often so it isn't a big expense.

can you spray directly on plastic/vynal trim or running boards if not /will it affect them by just rinsing down and over them
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 жыл бұрын
This is for use on paint and glass. So you wouldn't directly spray on plastics. But some overspray is normal, expected and ok. Just don't use this in direct sunlight and NEVER let iron removers dry on the surface. Rinse thoroughly once the dwell time is done.

Do iron removers affect the wax? Do you have to wax afterwards? I couldn't find if iron removers are ok to use during a normal car wash or best only when doing a full detailing
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 5 жыл бұрын
Although IronX is pH neutral, it could potentially break down older waxes and sealants. It's safe for use on ceramic coatings which have a much higher degree of resistance to chemicals. So if you IronX a car that is waxed, simply apply a fresh layer of wax when you're done.

Here's the thing, does Eagle One actually REMOVE iron particles? If you read the Eagle One label or any of the marketing materials, it claims to only IDENTIFY contaminants by changing color. It never claims to remove them. Iron X and other products on the other hand claim to dissolve iron particles. That's a pretty big difference between the two. I assume the Eagle One just turns the stuff purple so you can agitate the area and physically remove contaminants. It doesn't claim to chemically alter them in any way. I think some folks may be getting confused by this product. To me, it doesn't appear to be an actual iron remover.
