Rose, the Turkish version of this salad (kisir) is made with bulgur+tomato paste+pepper paste, and then all the other stuff added (cucumber, onion, parsley, etc). It's really far superior! The tomato paste is a real game changer and gives it its colour. I highly recommend you try it, it's perfect for picnics, office lunches, potlucks, and even hangovers in my opinion!
@KateLJ17992 жыл бұрын
I fully agree with this! Kisir is amazing! I also add garlic, mint leaves, cumin, paprika, and then the dressing is the same as in the video except you do pomegranate molasses instead of the dijon mustard. It goes nice in romaine lettuce leaves or pitta bread.

Im eating my fav salad of the moment and its romaine lettuce, quinoa, diced tomato, lil bit of finely diced onion OR minced garlic, shredded whole carrot, dried mint, cumin, black pepper, fresh lime/lemon juice (half of one) and tahini. Mint and cumin are so good together.

Looks good... even if she never ate it...people have nothing better to do than start rumors....Thanks for trying this out for us! *Tip* in case you've never tried it...to cool off pasta, rice, quinoa quickly; scoop it out on a couple of dinner plates [or cookie sheets] so it's in a thin layer. It will cool to room temp FAST. I do this all the time; the only down side is it makes a couple extra things to wash, but it works great.

I've never seen anyone put the ingredients to a salad dressing directly on a salad without mixing it first. If it works, this is such a great idea. Will have to try it. Worried about the mustard not mixing well, though.
@Gerifan042 жыл бұрын
I sometimes do this. Just depends on my mood and how much I care to use another dish for mixing haha. But I will say if you do just dump everything in best to put them right on top of each other. I feel that way they automatically mix a bit better starting from the same point.
@hederahelix46002 жыл бұрын
@@Gerifan04 I did try it twice by now. It worked great on a coleslaw and somehow I did exactly what you said, put them on top of each other and mixed the sauce a little before mixing it into the salad. With a vinaigrette for a leafy salad this does not work though. The oil and vinegar never properly emulsified so this was a watery soggy mess. Will try a joghurt based dressing next.

Thx for the vegan recipes. About the chickpeas, Jennifer has a point, legumes contain anti nutrients, some of which makes it difficult to digest and can make you bloated and gassy. Therefore it is adviced to soak, sprout or ferment legumes to make digestion easier. People with sibo or other gutproblems can’t eat legumes because of the digestion problems.
