This video is a quick repair tutorial on how to change the air injection pump fuse on a GMC vehicle. This is the first step in trying to diagnose the P0410 DTC on a Chevy Blazer and other vehicles. The air injection pump is part of the emissions system. While it is not shown on the video there is a 10 amp fuse in the same location I tested this and the fuse was fine.

Oh my god man, thank you so much. I was about to have the air injectors replaced and a new pump, this video sure enough saved me. My fuse was completely split all the way through, I didn’t think it would affect my gas mileage but sure enough I went 13 to 18mpg on my 2001 blazer. Thanks again!

I have an S-10 of this vintage. My problem started with the P0410 code but I had all sorts of random stuff happening during warm up as well. (Right turn signal indicator would light up, Right front turn signal would not work, right front running light would not work, even the horn went off a few times) Long story short, it ended up being a ground issue, The secondary air pump was putting enough voltage on the ground loop that these items would not have a proper ground. This ground is connected in front of the battery just to the side of the radiator.

I currently have that issue with my blazer with the right turn signal being dim on the turn signal and the p0410 code why did I think it was a ground issue and now you confirmed that it might be. Did it solve the issue with yours ? I even had the check valves and air pump installed and no luck

Since the fuse was shoot it mandated replacement. I found that the relay price was reasonable so with a new pump I had ordered 95% of what can go wrong for less than $160. This is not a hard job and lots of instruction out there. Good video!

I am going to check my fuse in the morning thank you for this video my mechanic has had my vehicle on and off for 8 months leaving me stranded in Texas with no way home it gets worse every time I take it to him he says he need to trouble shoot the codes how long does it take to check the fuse duh?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have a GM also (2000), it costs me more to replace the oil pan gasket than what the vehicle is worth. My educate guess can only be that GM wants those who own GM going to them for fixing.

Hi mate..informative video......I have a peugeot 307 2004 model......the old engine light came on P0410 fault. Dealer did the inspection and says, regarding the secondary air pump.. hose to air intake valve degraded as has air filter. So going to get a new air pump and valve...would that be the egr valve? (They have quoted super high price for parts so I am going to source them myself)....amyway, any input would be appreciated. thank you

I have installed all new parts and now the check engine light is still giving the same codes and two more codes that relate to the breaking system some code about the speed sensor in the brakes do you know how to fix that or what it means?

see my problem so the 2 metal tubes on both sides of the manifold has check valves and it goes down to a t into the a black valve that opens and closes then goes to the secondary air injection pump so i keep blowing hoses off or blowing hte hoses up on my car to where it obliterates them and shreds them to piece's and i just fixed them again and it just blew off 3 hoses and i have a 2001 chevy blazer 4.3 so from the exhaust manifolds the metal pipe goes down to 2 hoses to a metal t that i fixed in there then to one hose that goes to this valve then to the pump so its blowing a hose off at the t and the one on the passenger side manifold so my question is i should prob look at the check valves the pump or just delete the shit and be done with it

Hi Justin would like to know if the fuse was the issue or was it something else . I have a 2001 blazer , I replaced the smog pump , the check valves on the manifolds and still have a code for it . Thanks for your time

It was fine because it's never the fuse. These pumps get water in them in short out. I paid $300 to have one installed and it burned out within a month. If you need this pump, my suggestion is to only install it when you need inspection, and then remove until next year. You'll have the service light on, but code checkers are cheap now. The people who have made these should be forced by law to reimburse everyone this has caused problems for. And that's millions of people.

I've had this code for like two years and never really dug into. Typically I'll reset the PCM with a Bluetooth adaptor the day before the inspection, then the light will flip on a few days later. I usually go about my business after that.

i dont see how it passes because your monitors take awhile to start recording after clearing any codes and they usually dont complete a smog test untill they are back on

i know this video is a little old, but hopefully you're still listening. i have a 2001 blazer, so i'll assume the procedure/fuse location is the same for that year? i'm not throwing any codes, but i can't get my SECONDARY AIR obd monitor to "ready" despite a few successful drive cycles and several cold starts. i have also reset all monitors a few times just to make sure they are going "ready" consistently. is it possible that this issue is the result of a blown fuse, or would it invariably throw the P0410 if the fuse was blown? this is the only monitor that won't reset. i should mention that, at first, it was this and the catalyst that were hanging, but a bottle of cat cleaner and a few drive cycles has done the trick for the cat. i'd love to hear your feedback on this.

so i bit the bullet and disconnected the battery/took an ohmmeter to the fuses as you demonstrated and neither the 30amp nor the 10amp fuse were blown. i'm perplexed. any ideas?

You know there is a problem, you should inspect and clean the valve and the air pump while there. Cleaning all replacement parts is a necessary practice of good auto performance. Often one problem leads to another annual engine cleaning will save costly repairs.

you can buy the air pump from autozone and oriellys for anywhere from 100 and something dollars to 200 and something dollars. and there's alot of places on the internet to buy a cheap air pump. Just got to research and compare prices.

Mark. I replaced the entire Secondary Air Injection System and fuses on my 2000 chevy s10. You name it an I replaced it, pump, gasket, solenoid, valves, hoses, wiring, etc. I'm still getting code P0410. I had my mechanic look at it, thought maybe I did something wrong. He can't figure out what the problem is. Any thoughts?

You contradicted yourself on the battery . While reconnecting it , you should have reattached and tightened completely the positive terminal before you connected the negative terminal. Eliminating any possible accidental shorting while tighting the positive terminal with the negitive terminal connected... just saying.. . Buy the way great video. My Blazer has this code for 6 years. I've changed everything. Never knew this fuse existed. I can hear my fan running on Start Up. But it still codes. ???
