Good morning Garry. I have snow here too. About a inch and half. The smaller lakes and ponds are froze over as well. The last 4 days the temp hasn't got above the freezing point. Just about time to start putting some sets out. I hope that wolf is still there for you but it doesn't sound good if one got shot a couple miles away. I hope the cattleman didn't lose to many to those rascals over the summer. Im looking for tires too. I have been trying to find used as i can hardly afford new ones this go round either. Man have they got expensive. Have a good day my Friend.

It's supposed to warm up a little here again, but right now, it's 12F. Tires are WAY too high priced! If I bought new tires all the way around, plus a spare, it would double the value of my truck!! Yeah, I'm afraid this wolf might be gone. I'll check traps tomorrow, maybe there will be tracks. Quite a bit of snow up there....I'm kinda worried about it....

Friend up in Fairbanks introduced me to "Ragwool" gloves on a moose hunt in '03. Even a bit wet, they stayed warm, came well up above the wrist with a fairly tight wrist. They worked well inside a pair of thinner leather gloves. Bought two pair in the Army Navy Store in Anchorage for about $10 a pair back then. I think I finally lost the last one maybe five years ago. Got real sloppy and slimy with maybe a couple or three inches, was gone by late afternoon in the valley floor. Ma Nature might be serious about this winter. Better get some more firewood moved next to the house, I think. Have fun, don't got caught!

Wool really is the best, except for the itch! We had an inch or so in the yard yesterday, but it's melted off. A lot up high....I'm kinda worried about tomorrow's trap check....The wooly worms had a thin stripe, or no stripe at all this year....not a good sign.

@deadnorth8333 Back in the 70s, stationed up in the missile fields from just below Browning, MT in a big arc east out past Lewistown. Wind would come off the prairie in Alberta aimed at us like we had bullseye on our back. As the boss, in the winter, seemed like my biggest job was rotating guys into warming shelter, checking em for frostbite, making sure they were lucid and clear headed (playing with BIG explosives and such) .The old Air Force arctic parka with wolf and coyote ruff on the hood were outstanding, and they issued us canvas mukluks with rubber soles and a couple sets of heavy felt liners. Wore two pair of heavy wool socks in them, sometimes knee high nylon stocking. NO one said nothing cause everyone did the same. Me feet NEVER got cold nor wet in those, except for sweating too much. The Army cold weather gear I got in the Guard was pathetic in comparison.

Minnesota Rancher. Great video Gary. I'm sure you already know this, but a tit for new trappers, if deep snow is a possibility, mark your sets really well! Deep snow changes the look of the whole landscape and a snow load on branches and ribbons can make it quite challenging to find traps and snares. Keep it up!
@MuskratOutdoors11 ай бұрын
It sure can! Snow changes everything. This year since the trees are dead anyway, and burnt black, I use the blaze chopped onto the tree. That white inner wood really shows up against the burnt black bark. And it's off the ground by head high so snow shouldn't be a problem.

Welllllllll fortunately Miroko is what it is, a partner of Browing, at one point Browning went to Japan to sue them out of business, once there they realized that altho close but not exact copy of Browing, and better to work together than compete against Miroko, Browning undoubtedly has the reputation , and you pay for it BUT Mroko is more ....... inexpensive 🙂 thousands less for a firearm that is identical in all ways produced side by side in same factory, uses American Walnut stocks vs European for Browning and offers better engraving than Browning, I had a Miroko premiere grade O U 12 gage skeet and skeet I traded 2 new rem. 700 left hand 25 06 scopes and mounts for, that was a thing of beauty in everyway lol especially shooting rem. slugs out to 75 yards most touching each other, ya ya i can hear ... oh bs lol, I went to Pa. school of gunsmithing early 70's and was asked to Ogden Utah for 2 weeks when Browing had a custom shop there ya ya more bs lol the truth being I have met many men some in coveralls that could quote me chapter and verse on firearms and I listened carefully, browning was a ne plus in firearm design, think about the 94 winchester pre 64 and post 64 it still kills deer still does its job but reblue the action and its purple !!!😱😰😮

There were some prime hunting areas around here that had lots of mule and whitetail herds that the wolves completely decimated. You'd be lucky to see a lost deer here and there anymore. You should lower your tire pressure to 15-20 psi. It will really smooth out those washboards and increase traction.

WoW! Very neat! I'm very open minded about it. I've never seen anything, tracks or more, but we heard something a few years back I can't explain...along with a dead smell with nothing we could find dead? I would love to know for sure....
