The reason some of the top chefs make cookbooks is so that people can cook something decent, usually with instructions to go with it. Your metaphor gets worse when you consider no musician would do that with their song.

Professional chefs are supposed to create something unique, and while they can be inspired by another chef's work, they can only add it to the menu by permission. Whether or not he had Gordon's permission, and whether Gordon was expecting it or not, it is a damn insult to make someone's dish, which is to be tasteful, only for it to be meh or disgusting. People who steal don't need the owners permission to take. People who steal songs don't need the compose/writers permission to title it as their own, or make it worse. I don't see how this isn't an insult to Gordon? To the customers? How is it *not* a fucking insult? I feel insulted and I'm not even a fucking chef.

Its a little odd to watch the UK version. Mostly because in The US when you watch a Gordon Ramsay show, you watch it to watch him flip out, so they really play up the fact that he's freaking out. Probably a culture thing. American’s are more talkative and want to make sure things are sorted before moving on to the next table. Like even in Canada, the server will deliver your food, and leave to another table or to gather more drinks or what have you before coming back to check if all is well, when I visit the US the server will wait to make sure your food is well and have a small chat before moving on to other duties

I've never seen this in an American restaurant. Usually they bring your food, immediately leave for a few minutes, then come back later and ask if everything is good. They don't hang around after giving you the food.
