Thank you, Chef RV, for sharing your recipe. Actually, i am not familiar with piaya until recently my friend gave me 1 to try. I had to ask her kung anu tawag dun kasi di ku tlga alam. I am from Ilocos Norte by the way. Hindi ako pamilyar tlga sa piaya. And so i tasted it, and right away fell in love. Good thing chef rv shared his recipe. Delicious! Thank you Chef RV! I just made it and it is indeed very flaky! The best recipe sa dinami ng tinry namin na recipes kc dito kmi overseas, ito po ang pnaka legit. Thank you Chef. ❤ Taga Bacolod din po ako kaya i can understand why and daming nagcocorrect ng pronounciation ng piaya. 😅 Pero i believe that true Bacolodnons will not correct you in a harsh and insulting way. You know what, Red Bean Paste, White Bean Paste, Monggo Paste has the same texture as the Ube Halaya. I bet you can use those as a filling in piyaya too. You can also add Pandan extract to the white bean paste to make a pandan flavour.

I love piaya. I could eat it everyday for merienda. But it’s expensive to buy all the time. It’s a lot cheaper to make it yourselves. I prefer pre-roasting my sesame seeds before I roll them with the piaya before cooking. The sesame seeds become more toasty and tasty.

Pansin ko pong kumukunat siya the next day. Should we have it fully sealed po or okay lang sya ilagay sa ordinary container with a lid?
