Dear AJ … I’ve watched this over and over and over again and I know that it’s an older video but I love your realness and I understand your seemingly lack of patience at times on this post It’s because you’re just trying to get the message out to the people who really sincerely want ( and need) to be healthy and don’t know how and people keep putting obstacles up. I just want you to know I appreciate you your example and all the help that you’ve done. One of the key phrases I really love on this post is if you’re not hungry enough to eat vegetables then you’re really not hungry. Keep up your humor, style, and good works. ❤

Hi chef AJ❤ I probably commented on this video years ago, but here I am again to tell you this: THANK YOU. Thank you for all you do for us!!! I love you & am so thankful for your encouragement all those years ago when I started the WFPB journey. I too went to True North back in 2012 and did a 14 day fast (so sick I wanted to die). Started WFPB and never looked back😊 I’m now thankful I had fibromyalgia so badly because it led me to good nutrition the way God made it!!! You were and still are a shining star❤❤❤

Okay, this is the first time I have heard a full talk from Chef AJ and I love it. Very inspiring, and I love the no nonsense approach to questions. In work, in life, in health; the plan works when you work the plan. The message I got, don't screw with what works; and don't say it doesn't work when you haven't really done it. I'm new to this; but I am onboard. I have been on-again, off-again WFPB for 2 years with little weight loss. I now understand what Dr. Gregor said about food density. I am committing to start each day with vegetables; and eating all kinds of scrumptious veggies with each meal. I am dropping my beloved nuts, avocado, and glass of wine with dinner. Something new, I will only eat when I am hungry. Only a few days in; but happily in compliance; no cravings and no obsessing. I know I'm not a success story, but loving how I feel and loving the food. Thank you Chef AJ. Don't give up on us, we need you!

I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I just started my raw food high fruit journey 4 months ago. I used to eat a lot of beans, rice, pasta, potatoes, etc on a cooked vegan diet to feel full. But after age 60, I could not get away with all those starches without weight gain. Metabolism slows way down after age 60. In ir see to lose and maintain weight, I had to let go of starches. Ioccasionally have a slice of bread or some cooked garbanzo beans or sprouted lentils. I thought I would not feel full in a raw diet but that has not been the case for me. The raw food has so many nutrients that I am satisfied with much less food. I mainly have one or 2 banana-based smoothies during the weekdays, at least one of which will be a green smoothie. I intermittent fast. On the weekends I have my salad meals. I’m trying to get down to my college weight of 120 pounds. Got about 40 pounds to go.

I really appreciate Chef AJ. She has helped me lose weight by focusing on eating healthy meals consistently. I love baked sweet potatoes. I enjoy eating grilled peppers and grilled halved Roma tomatoes. I like eating 15 varieties of mixed beans. I like baked asparagus and Brussels sprouts (sprinkled with salt and pepper, and I use a little olive oil and dark brown sugar). I got a 1,000 watt Nutri-Ninja, which makes it easy to drink vegetables and I still get all the fiber. I eat them too, but drinking them encourages me to consume them more. I like what AJ says: "If it's in your house it's in your mouth!"

I love your real life delivery!!! My daughter was murdered. I don’t know your whole story regarding the loss of your son but I certainly do know crushing loss and grief. I do know despair and what it is to not care about ANYTHING, least of all, what I look like or what I weigh. For some reason my heart has continued to beat and I am still standing. So, I’ve decided to not be beaten. I’ve come to the conclusion that my daughter would never want me to give up. So here I am, ready to begin living in a productive healthy manner. THANK YOU for making me think clearly about taking charge of my life rather than to simply exist and drift like a cork out in the open ocean. My deepest thanks to you. ❤️

The trend seems to be fasting to improve your insulin sensitivity and to reduce the frequentt insulin peaks with all the negative outcomes associated with it. Here you are eating vast amounts of food and eating frequently. I understand the types of food you are eating help minimise peaks but they will occur along with the frequent production of insulin. First, I love your top! Also, please don't stop doing weight loss Wednesday. I wait for it every week, and it's the reason that I stopped drinking! I heard you say it enough times and that was it. I'm finally losing weight again (I'm very close to a healthy weight but still have 10-20 pounds to go). I had lost 40 pounds as an hclf vegan still drinking and eating tortilla chips and some junk food, lucky for me I've been gluten free for 11 years which I think really helped me. Your principles and Dr. Grumpy (Golhamer who I love love love) are the reason that I suddenly lost 9 more pounds in May and another 3 in June by stopping ALL processed foods and alcohal for good; I'm a disagreeable bitch too and I decided I will not compromise anymore or relapse for anyone. I'm finally in control of my body and I feel great and never have to go hungry. I know you hate saying the same things over and over, but what happens is when I hear it enough, it becomes 2nd nature. So, please keep doing WLW if you have time! Thank you to you and Dr. Grumpy for cutting through the bullshit and setting the record straight. 😘 WLW has changed my life!!!

Thank you Chef AJ! Love your videos and advice! I commented on a Yahoo article not long ago how the WFPB diet is what actually helped me lose weight and not hours and hours of hard core exercise. Because the article was saying that it doesn't matter how much you weigh as long as you exercise that's all that's important. I had stated that for years I exercised at least an hour a day, 5, sometimes 6 days a week, but still ate a S.A.D. diet and my weight never budged. I also have tried keto, Atkins, Slim Fast, weight watchers, Nutrisystem, and phentermine. So I went on WFPB and lost. Boy did I get some negative flack. It blows my my mind the arguments, misinformation, misconceptions, and negativity surrounding a plant based diet. I received comments from people stating their mother in law almost died from a VEGETARIAN ( I explained how WFPB is different from vegetarian) diet to just keep your calories under what you burn in a day to keto was the way for them. I stated I wasn't a doctor or nutritionist and I'm not saying what works for one will always work for everyone since everyone has different genetics, chemistry, lifestyle, circumstances, but I feel a WFPB would NEVER hurt anyone or make them gain. Still got nailed with negativity. It didn't bother me, but made me sad. People are still very much in the dark on nutrition and health.

what about fatty liver causes slow weight loss? I drank 2 green smoothies a day and only ate a small dinner, my weight remained the same for about 5 months, then suddenly in the 6 month I lost 10 lbs within 2 weeks. so dont get discouraged! (the green somotthies helped break my cravings for food ) I kept the weight off for a couple years, then my partner went on a crazy diet and influenced my eating plan with high fats and meats, and fear of brown rice, which totally threw off my weight, health and cravings plus it messed with my head.. I e put the juicer away but I think if I didn't start that way I wouldn't have been able to do it. I guess it helped me reset my taste buds. I have been doing this since March. My husband passed away in February and I miss him so much but I decided that now I can finally do for me something I never had a chance to do before. I am 70 and in the 80’s my mom read some books of Dr. Bragg and started eating vegan. My mom was in her early 60’s and looked like she was dying but a few months of eating right she was beautiful. I tried it back then but the gas was so bad and she didn’t want to be around me not that I blamed her. Now I don’t have that problem, I found this out when my gallbladder was removed and I am loving it. I had the energy my great grandkids had but for the last two weeks I have been so tired. Do I need vitamins and I hate to say it but I do put two teaspoons of honey in my green tea, could that be dragging me down? I am waiting for your book.

Great video AJ!! People just need to get busy & do the work of changing how they look at their food intake. Keeping a food journal of everything they put on their mouth is work & well worth their time & effort. Not only a food journal but how they feel each day of their journey so they understand their triggers (good & bad). Plain & simple peeps - do the work to get the results you want. Thank you AJ for your candid honesty, frustration & all. You are the real deal.

And thank you for the potatoes. My favorite food ever, and i, personally low salads ANF steamed veggies. It'd just that they keep on introducing new diets. I will try yours (comfortably), and I I lose the weight slowly, then fine. I will be satisfied doing it.

I just found your channel on yesterday and you are an inspiration for me. I love your honesty:-) I just had a hysterectomy last week and am at home and decided I needed to change my eating for my health. I have watched vegan -vegetarian and now plant based and I am hooked on all of your information given. Thank you!!

OH MY WORD! I just watched the nose flute performance. You are such a ham....vegan, of course. Such talent! I must say, though you weren't the "healthy" AJ then, you were beautiful even then. Thank you for all the hard work in trying to help us achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Wow, you look fantastic! I am reading your book right now and I am enjoying it. I am going to a big party in 2 days, and I am going to take my own food! I am used to being teased a bit because I am already a vegan, so I don't care what anyone says! If I get questioned, I usually say, "I don't eat meat." People think I am crazy, so they just say, "Oh," and walk away. lol

Some people don't eat a lot of veggies to begin with, it may help to go slow and start veggies slowly to help with tummy woes.

I love how candid you are about people who focus on the small stuff. That's just a cover up for their lack of education. I watch you to learn how to get high nutrient dense meals. Due to a serious bicycle accident 3 years ago that in addition to my broken body requiring multiple titanium implants to walk, move my arm and reconstruct my crushed face, I now struggle with Traumatic Brain Injury. I no longer experience any hunger, so when I eat it must be nutrient dense so that my body doesn't get inflammations that will cause illness. Until this video, I didn't realize the omega3 / 6 balance issue and will definitely be doing some research on that. Thank you for all the information and for being real. I love that part of your personality.

You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your journey (and being frank about it). Those of us who have dieted and failed for years can see a glimmer of hope through your testimony. Then, your interview with Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro (just recently) provided that “AHA” moment that will change my life forever. God Bless you.

Very nicely explained. I personally gravitate between raw vegan fruitarian and whole foods plant-based. In other words sometimes I'm 100% raw and other times I eat potatoes! It's sort of a hybrid diet. All vegan for 38 years. It's very true some of the things you say. The starches really do come in handy. They are very satisfying. And I do think potatoes are really number one in terms of satiety. You made good comments about nuts and seeds as well. And everybody ought to understand the concept of calories and where they come from. I'm a big believer in Dr Doug Graham's 80/10/10 concept. This is a study in calories and macronutrients and it explains the importance of fresh fruit in the human diet. I do think a fruit-based diet is superior to the whole foods plant-based mostly cooked approach. But there's a lot more to health and longevity than just diet. And the satiety of the whole foods plant-based mostly cooked approach is superior. However I do think a hybrid diet between the two approaches is the wisest way to go.

I love the WLW. Sorry to hear Chef AJ lament on how painful WLW are for her. This feature is one of the cornerstones of her brand and it is definitely not lost on me but it sounds like it is a challenge for her at least during this airing.

So desperate cause I’ve tried the numerous ways to lose weight and I eventually gain it all back and then some. Looking for a common sense eating plan, one I can weave into my life, I ran into your channel. I’m 120 lbs overweight and I no longer want to “look thin” I just want to be healthy again. Thank you for sharing what you eat in a typical day. I now have a place to start. Looking forward to more.

Ive ordered every book from all the popular ppls concerning the wfpb way of eating and i could not get an idea from ANY of them about the ratio of veggies to starches we should be eating so i wish i had bought none of those books and only watched this one video because its the most imformative and what ive learned is you need to basically eat mostly veggies then you can have starches otherwise i dont lose weight at all and that is how butterfly effect lady lost all her weight so dont waste your time buying all the books ppl just eat mostly veggies and you will lose and that is the bottom line secret that they just dont come right out and tell you because they want to sell books, now i know what i need to do thanks AJ !

This is such great news for me. I love veggies, but never thought I could eat unlimited amounts, and have starch too! I have a serious problem with portion control. Your system is awesome, NO MEASURING! I've always, always, hated that measuring and journaling stuff, ugh. And with your plan I can eat without counting and get really FULL. I'm taking small steps, because I'm also a sugar addict. I just have one question, I work out and weight train. I have been told after a weight training session, one is supposed to eat protein to feed the muscle. What can I eat after a workout? Thank you!!

Thank you so much. I know that you were tired o talking about what you eat in a day (even in 2017) but this video was the one that clarified things for me. So, thank you so much. I have had some of the problems that you have had, and am just a tad overweight, but have to put the brakes on now. Got any suggestions for getting off the diet sodas? I love them, and I know they're horrible. Gonna try the vinegar for that, and will try to find a doc, but that will be difficult. My primary care guy isn't very good at the dumb stuff. Anyway, thanks so much!

Great video! I just lost another 4 pounds doing WFPB low fat. I do eat some higher fat foods that don't trigger binges. Low fat peanut powder, I can handle that. Tiny cans of black olives don't tempt me. I can handle flaxseed meal, chia seeds and hemp seeds. Sesame seeds I can handle too. They make a good substitute for tahini which is a binge food for me. I put sesame seeds in homemade hummus.
