Chef Jean-Pierre, I am 70 years of age and learning to cook thanks to you! I live in a senior community. I was gifted a bag of purple beans (turn green when cooked) and followed your recipe. You always give fantastic instructions. I used regular tomatoes sliced thin and did not have almonds so I left them out. I have NEVER tasted such magnificent beans! I shared half of these beans with my neighbor and could not stop raving about them! You teach me something new with every video and at 70 years of age I am just beginning to learn how to cook, thanks to YOU!

I am orginally from Quebec, 64 years old. My grandpa prevented my grandmother to buy tasty margarine. Not because of the taste, but because we were a dairy region! I like better Chef Jean-Pierre's reason: one molecule away from acrylic.

Wow, In Turkey we traditionally make green beans as pot food. We saute the onyo with butter or olive oil, add some tomato paste or tomato. Then add beans, saute 5 mins and add hot water on top of it, slowly cooks about 35 mins. Such a classical Aegean Turkish food.

In my business, I like to say: It took me hours to learn coding, and a lifetime to program. Translated, and yet so true: It took me minutes to learn boiling and a lifetime to cook. I am a presentable cook after now 8 years cooking, but I tell you, climbing the one step up to become a chef, is very difficult. Not because I could not call myself a chef, but because I want to have the right knowledge beforehand. I have had the fortune to work with famous italian chefs for a couple of months each, and I am glad to refresh my knowledge with you, and learn a few new tricks now and then. For me it is most valuable to see the ease you juggle pots and pans, the way you cut the contents, make sauces and decorate. One can make the most delicious plate, but if thrown at you like in company mensa's, everything tastes the same.

Thank you so much for all the Thanksgiving, holiday, cooking dishes over the past days. You have inspired me. On my table this year will be your stuffed turkey breast, turkey and cognac gravy, chorizo sausage stuffing, carrot and butternut squash soufflé, cranberry and orange salsa, these butter green beans, and your eggnog holiday cheesecake with rum raisin sauce. The only thing missing from my table will be you - but you'll be there in spirit. And whatever we don't eat, we'll put in the freezer. Word on the street is your food lasts 17 years in the freezer :) Happy Holidays!

2:56 I have a guilty confession - I LOVE overcooked green beans served with LOTS of butter & pepper!! I was served "haricots verts" like that many times over in France over 30 years ago when on a long trip there and have loved them that way ever since!! Bring them to the boil, then swith off the heat or turn it to very very low for one hour. Drain & dry carefully then add a load of butter & lots of freshly ground black pepper - it´s to die for!!!!

These lessons are very important bc so many young ppl were not taught how to cook at or home and many are wanting to know how to cook than eating out the same boring stuff. Everyone is on a rat race, I know and have friends who have hundred thousand dollar kitchens and can’t boil water or turn their stove on. That’s the truth. It’s really fun the way you give many options to the dishes you’re preparing.

It can be hard to find really good recipes that won't cause problems, and your recipes give a beautiful gourmet touch to dishes that can be made bladder and prostate friendly. A million thanks from our community for giving us your recipes and your 50+ years of experience with making fantastic food, and the motivation to get us back in our kitchens to cook for ourselves. Keep spreading laughter and light as well. My grandmother would say that by spreading laughter the universe heals your soul. We all need laughter in this world right now. That's how I've always done them, unless I am cooking them southern style, which means many hours with pork -- ham hocks or salt pork or some such thing. I have a story to tell about these. I moved to NY City in the late 1970s. At some point I had a dinner party and invited my little brother and the people he worked with at the NY Public Library at Lincoln Center. One man in particular looked askance at my green beans -- cooked southern style -- and he put two or three of them on his plate with a grim look on his face. But, gee, guess what? He adored them. Piled them high and ate several helpings. It's surprising sometimes what you discover is actually delicious, even though it goes against all the rules you were raised with. I can cook green beans either way and love them. Right now, as I am recovering from colitis, I am supposed to eat them "well cooked." Hmm....
