You know I couldn't make a race day vlog without adding the most dramatic music!! In this vlog I take you through the couple days leading up to running the RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon all the way through race day and post-race reflections. The running content will definitely slow down from here because my body needs a break! If you're new here, my name's Chelsea, I'm 32 living alone in New York City. If you enjoy what you see, consider subscribing to join the fam! 💘
The race I ran was the RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 18th.

Hi Friends! You KNOW I had to add the most dramatic music possible for this video!! hehe. Thank you so much for your support on this half marathon journey 💘 ALSO, wow thank you for all the hype for my haircut in last week's video. I couldn't believe the amount of comments there were in support.... so it's safe to say that the short hair is here to stay. Love ya, have a great long weekend!

Hi Chelsea, Ive had hypothyroid, Hashimotos for almost 39 years. intense exercise really disrupts my body. I only wished I had listened to my body more in my younger days, Id not be having all the issues in this life stage. however, I have more than one autoimmune disease. All my specialty doctors have told me that once you acquire one you will be guaranteed more. listen to your body. do what feels right. don't let your ego get in your way of health. Did that and paid for it. I suffer with disruptive sleep and extreme fatigue. I still live my life to the best of my capabilities. I have a 4 year old grandson who loves his grandma and wants to do all the things I did with his brothers. Hiking, running, camping etc. I told the nugget, grandma was much younger then🤣 he told me that I wasn't old....gotta love them littles. give yourself grace. you did great young lady💜

Great job! I just started watching these running vlogs as motivation. I am not a runner, but have a goal of focusing on walking for fitness/wellness. Diane in Denmark on her KZbin channel usually does Friday videos in which she gives four self-care assignments one can choose from and one week she mentioned a new fitness activity. I only having been walking two times a week. So I could set a goal of walking a 5K. Great reflection, Morgan Harper Nichols has an affirmation that says "I am creating space for both gentleness and strength." So, thank you for the reminder to take care of ourselves!

Hi Chelsea!! 🙋🏻‍♀️I am SOOOO proud of you!! You smashed this!! I have never run like this in my life (I'm guessing running 🏃🏻‍♀️ for the bus doesn't count 🤫🤭🤣🤣), but to me you trained hard, showed up, dealt with everything thrown at you, and still came out 15 minutes earlier....that's incredible!! You are such an inspiration ✨️ thank you for taking us along with you. ❤

Congratulations!! It's so nice to have a goal time, but it's also so important to take note if the time goal causes you more stress than motivation! And also! If anyone reading has never been a race day volunteer - do it! It's such a heartwarming experience no matter where you help out!

I had a LOT of poop and others IG issues with gels on half or full marathons when those sport gels became popular sources of energy to consume on race day or training. In fact, my stomach wasn’t happy with them. So… You know what? I have simply returned on more natural sources of sugar and salt: homemade dense cooked rice balls (sometime with a small caramel square inside!), coated with sugar and salt, that I wrap individually. And only water during the race. No Gatorade (it’s too much sugar). I had no more IG issues since. In fact, too much concentrated sugar (gels, Gatorade, for example) is the #1 reason for IG problems on the race. Congrats for your new PB!

Gooood jooooob Chelsea!! Your half was at the same time when mine was, except i am in Europe (Latvia). It was a really hot day and some people even passed out and i saw a couple of ambulances.. that was a bit chiling to see so i went slower than i originally thought i should be going. Didn't want to risk it as i didn't practice running in hot weather. It was a well organised event and there was a lot of water stations and stuff though. It was my first half marathon and my time was suuuuper slow, but doesn't matter i freaking did it!!! What an adventure! Now i have another half in September, and i know that i need to get more serious about my training routine. I know i wasn't always 100% into it and i didn't do my best, but i did it anyway.. Either way, definitely here for the running content, go Chelsea!! I loved being able to get motivated together!

Congrats Chelsea, great job on giving it your all and finishing strong! I was in the running zone a decade ago where I ran the Detroit-Windsor International half marathon (we run over the international bridge going over to Canada and through the stuffy overheated international tunnel coming back to the USA) 4 years in a row. And you guessed it, my best year my time was one minute over from being a sub-two-hour run, haha! Looking back with a decade's hindsight, every single year's run was as valuable as the PR one just for getting out there and like Nike says, "just do it." Happy trails to all runners because you get to learn something about yourself along the way while having a unique experience!

1. The music in this video is perfect, so cinematic! Good choice! Especially loved that ethereal one when you finished! 2. When you were already standing among others ready to go, OMG I hate that nervousness, I always just wanna go, I don't wanna just stand there for minutes and minutes more bcs the suspense is killing me HAHA 3. When you said "I can do this, let's go", I freaking bawled already, why does running have to be so emotional HAHA and even more emotional watching others do it?! I swear I had no idea until my mid twenties! :DDDD And people cheering and saying your name, how cool! 4. Yes, rock that T-shirt! Could not follow you like I did during the marathon but was waiting like crazy for this video! I am soooooooooooooo soooooooooo proud of you, who tf cares about the time, you still ran better than you did before! Btw what you said about the failure happening in front of us and then it is our loss too, I would not consider it a loss either way, bcs I think all of your community feels like we are with you in the highs and the lows as well. But I am glad after crying in Central Park, you finished the race on such a high! And then with the stomach issues too! Looking forward to your anti-inflammatory journey, this is what I have been dealing with too, but I just can't stay away from running. But I am taking it very slow now.

I'm also still watching the video, but I wanted to say that I ran my first ever race today, a 5k in Toronto. I was in wave 4 and it was exhilarating lol You are an inspiration and don't give up 💪

Yes, Chelsea! Hearing your reflections on your run is powerful! I didn't beat my goal during my 10K either the beginning of May. We grow and we learn. Letting go of tour expectations is huge. Great video and great race! ❤

Hey Chelsea - not sure if you’re still struggling with your couch arm chairs but I just got the exact couch you have (actually how I found your channel somehow) and put it together myself. I have a tip that worked for me- If you put on the arms first, use a little hammer or mallet to gently tap the arms into place, then if you take the back piece and just line up the edge on the outside (the one on the opposite side from the corner, if you can get that little guy lined up, it makes it much easier to slight adjustment the corner side and then you can slide it in. Not sure if that’s helpful or not but I was able to do it on my own that way!!

Congratulations on your run. I love your videos even though I don't always comment. I just wanted to say that where you talked about running and the training you have to do despite it not being the best for your health I really felt. I have different chronic illnesss and at times they have stopped me from doing things that I love including exercise and being able to get those things back has been so important to me especially running which I couldn't bring myself to do for a long time despite loving it. I just wanted to say thank you for talking about it it's not normally something I get to hear from other people. Sorry if this is rambley and doesn't make much sense, it made me really emotional. So thank you
