Navigating having a kitten while living alone in NYC has taught me so much and has been the greatest gift. So much goes into deciding when it's time to take the leap, and making these choices based on what will give my cat the best life, even if I'm not quite ready yet. I am so so excited AND SCARED to expand the cat family!! Please note that I am learning as I go, if you want the best cat advice, check out Jackson Galaxy or The Kitten Lady on youtube. Their videos have helped me so much and are great points of reference. Thank you for all your love welcoming Gordo into the family ❤️ Soon we will welcome another.

Hi friends! Back with the highly requested cat content along with ANOTHER surprise 🐱🐱I feel like y'all maybe saw this coming though. Separately, last night was the Offline event IRL!!! We had such a great turnout and I truly had THE BEST TIME getting to meet everyone!! Seriously, y'all were so warm and kind and thoughtful and sweet, I am so grateful to everyone that was able to come out ❤ Your support means the world. I am still processing, but will give the full recap in an upcoming vlog!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤ also at a certain point I got tired of blurring out my tatas in this video (LOL) and only blurred out the 'close calls' 😂 I figured someone might comment about that lolol

It made so darn tooting happy when you said you’d foster the cat!! Yay!!!! You’ll fall in love and keep him or her. And don’t be surprised if it takes a while to have them get along. But they’re so young that they’ll love playing with each other. And they’ll have company when you’re out. You’re apt is def big enough for two cats. Trust me - 2 cats will bring you double the joy!!!!

So happy for you!! I have had so many kitties and last year I got a little boy 6 weeks old and two weeks later I got a little girl who was about 10 weeks I brought her put her on the bed and he made a couple of little growls but he loved her immediately it’s like they are brother and sister but not even the same litter! Not saying every kitty will immediately be okay with each other but I think the younger they are it’s easier! They will have different personalities and it’s so much fun experiencing that …you will be a happy family of three sometimes when you are least expecting it a sweet baby kitty comes into life and unconditionally loves you it’s the best feeling x two! Just loving them back is all you really need to know…😊

Adopting a second kitten is the best decision! It might seem like having two will make your life harder, but in my experience having two cats grow up together, play together, and keep each other company will make things easier and happier for all of you. Yay!

I second this! I REGRET not getting two together when I got my first cat…the shelter tried convincing me to adopt my girls sister and I said no in fear of it being too much to handle. Instead I waited two years and although I love my girl, she was ALOT to deal with and that’s because she was alone all day and just wanted to play with someone. Once I got my boy, she calmed down IMMEDIATELY and I no longer dealt with torn up carpet, chewed up plants and having my toes attacked at night. So this was a great decision on your part. It actually makes it easier to raise them as kittens lol.

Third! If you have the resources, it's so , so good for them to have a feline friend. I have a16 year old cat and wish I had given her siblings a long, long time ago. A year ago I rescued two siblings from my neighbors carport and they're thick as thieves. She tolerates them and wonders why they're there but thankfully they leave her be. Also, you're doing a wonderful job, so don't doubt that. The life you're giving them is far superior than what the alternative would be.

Fourth this! I adopted two kittens (brother and sister) four years ago and I’m so happy I did. I know it seems like a lot at the beginning but once everyone settles into a routine, it’ll be like there was always meant to be two babies in your life.

Fifth, you won’t have to worry about leaving Gordo alone when you go out because now he’ll have company. They may be standoffish at first, but they will get used to one another in no time.

"How are you supposed to want to keep going when working hard can't seem to afford you anything?" Ugh I felt that. This is where I'm at right now in my 30's looking around at all the things that just keep getting further out of reach with inflation. I know I need to try to leave my comfort zone to even stand a chance but the odds don't feel in my favor and I'm so tired already. But anyway, I really appreciate these videos where you're so open about your struggles.

They did! Apparently cat purrs actually help when you are sick/are healing! And cats seem to know this and will actually seek their (sick) owners out! They have studied it a lot. It's one of the many reasons why I'm a dog AND cat person. They each give to me something unique that only each of them can bring because they are a dog or a cat. I can't choose. I must have both.

Congratulations on making the decision to adopt one of Gordo’s siblings. I adopted a one-year old orange cat 8 years ago. Copper had been found on the side of a road with his ribs kicked in. Vet guessed his ribs were broken courtesy of the toe from a steel-toed boot and he was left to die. Whoever found Copper and brought him to the animal shelter is a hero. And those who nursed Copper back to health are heroes. Copper arrived in my home with some serious mental health issues. But he was also very intelligent; I could see the intelligence in his eyes and noted it frequently from reactions to words I spoke. He was no dummy. I respected his need for space and felt honored when he would sit a “little” closer, start to take an interest in household activities. It likely took him close to a year before I heard him purr. Now a days he’s a frequent visitor on my lap; appreciates a good snuggle from time to time; doesn’t run when it’s time to get his fur brushed; and he definitely lets me know when its time for a snack.

LOVE THIS! I volunteer at a no-kill cat shelter and have helped counsel potential adopters who are only interested in one kitten. Two kittens is ALWAYS better than one! You are going to be amazed at how easy it is. Their lives will be enriched by having one another, and by having you as their cat-mom! Also, I'm a long-time Alexis watcher too, and just tickled pink seeing you two together.

So exciting! Sorry I'm getting to this video late! It's awesome that you're getting a second kitten because usually rescues won't let people just adopt one kitten if they don't already have another cat at home - your two kittens will teach other how 'to cat' now and probably love each other quickly. Quick tip: Gordo will feed off your energy, so if you're nervous and anxious about the new cat, he will be too. Just be chill! i have three cats in my one bedroom apartment and they're all super happy! You have more than enough space.

Gordo is so adorable!! I was an only child who grew up in the country with cats and dogs. They were my company...often felt like they were siblings. To be honest I never really felt the terrible urge to have children but have always wanted cats and dogs in my life. I have 3 cats...2 females and 1 male...all fixed/neutered. I live in a small 2 bedroom house and my cats are indoors only due to living in the country near a busy road. I have 4 cats trees which to me were a great investment for me and the cats. Sometimes all 3 are asleep on 1 cat tree and sometimes they are all on different trees. All 4 cat trees are near windows and the cats all "chatter" at birds that land on the bushes outside the windows. The cats are really good at scratching the areas on the cat trees and every now and then I need to reattach the rope with glue as they have gotten carried away...which is better than going for the furniture. A few tips for you to think about...1) Leave your kitty carrier out with the door open so they can freely go in and out if it rather than bringing it out only when they have a scheduled vet appointment. If they are used to it it isn't as traumatic for them when you gave to pack them up to go to the vet. 2) I get my kitty litter delivered by Chewy.com or Amazon so I can have a fair amount at home. 3) Get your kitties used to being brushed. My male kitty loves to be brushed and he comes when I'm sitting by the table where I keep the brush and literally taps me on the leg so I will brush him. Getting them used to being brushed keeps loose fur off of them so they won't lick themselves and OD on loose fur and then get fur balls that they will throw up. Yes your affect has greatly improved since Gordo came in to your life!! Very happy for you and that you and Gordo will have more company. 2 kitties is a great move!! Can't wait to see his sister!!

You mentioned you're feeding Gordo more now, but for kittens, they should have access to food pretty much at all times. Yes, they do grow fast, and until about a year old, they should just be able to graze freely anytime to make sure they are getting enough calories.

I rescued Ava dog. She's little but she didn't seem to like other animals and certain people with hats. Lol so when I found Sophie my second dog I was a bit nervous. We had Ava for one year when we got Sophie and Sophie was 5 weeks old. Their birthdays are the same month days apart one year and a few days so we celebrate them together and now Ava is going to be 11 in October and Sophie's going to be 10 in October. It's so crazy to me. They have never been apart since I adopted. Sophie and I could never imagine even to run to the store or anything. I've always taken both of them. They are like so tightly together. They have little fights once in awhile but it's pretty rare. I think it's due to jealousy or something too. Anyways, we've brought so much love and joy to me. I can't even imagine not having both of them. I think you're going to love it! I know it!❤💯🐾

So adorable! I can tell how big your heart is. I know you're probably sick of advice, but as a long time cat owner, I wanted to let you know that cats can regulate their own food- but only if you start when they're kitttens. (Unlike dogs, which will literally eat until they die). If you leave out a good dry food, like Urinary Care Hills Science Diet (for the boy cats esp.), they will learn to eat whenever they're hungry. It prevents obesity, with the added benefit of allowing them to be left alone for moderate stretches of time (not that you'd want to :) ). Hope this helps!

It makes so much sense Chelsea!! I was the same, I have had my dog for 2.5yrs now, I was so hesitant and my mum got him for me, and I love the bones of him now, it worked out perfect, I was uncomfortable with the idea but so happy someone else nudged me in the animal mum direction. I am now in my late 30's, work is good, dog mum life is great...I have never looked at kids and known that's what I want, I have never had the urge to be a mum to humans... and I am way past wanting a partner, I did up until my early 30's but am now far too independent and love my easy life. So it is NOT strange Chelsea, it is actually so normal, so many woman feel the same as you.

You certainly have enough space for two cats, even if the second is temporary. Aside from floor space, think about the vertical space cats can have by adding shelving, cat trees, etc. I foster and do TNR and two will be great in your space!

chelsea, you've been inspiring me a lot lately! i'm a new viewer to your videos since i have been dreaming of moving to NYC for years now, but 6 months out of college I really don't have the funds. but to know that NYC is just as if not more enjoyable when you are in your 30s is so so so reassuring. im 23 and feel like i've already let my life slip away but you've completely changed my mind on it. and i loooove the kitties! i have a cat who wants to move to NYC as well, she's been telling me all about it HAHA

Hi, this is my first time commenting. I'm in a predicament as I've been offered a farm kitten to adopt. All of a sudden I seem to be conscious of reasons why I shouldn't adopt? I work but could pop home to visit my kitten throughout the day so a second kitten could help. I really felt your vlog very mindful of such issues. I hope things work with your new cat.

Good luck with the incoming new kitten! PLEASE be sure you get them fixed, especially if they are different sexes from one another! You don’t want to have any accidental kittens and litter mates are not good to breed with one another as they can have neurological issues!

Chelsea, I can relate so well to you. I also am a mom to kitties and love mine with my whole heart but I’ve not ever had that maternal drive for human kids and that’s my chosen path I’m proud of. Same for dating, if it happens, ok but if not my life is full. I hope you don’t ever feel badly bec some other human decided your path or purpose should be the same as theirs. That’s nonsense. Stay true to yourself. Your authenticity is truly what makes you so relatable and why I keep tuning in to watch. You rock and your kitty is just too darn cute!

Hi Chelsea! You are doing a wonderful thing by fostering a kitty that will possibly be a pal for Gordo. As I found out in a recent talk with my daughter, she is like you in the sense that her little dog gives her a joy that no human child could give her. She has always felt that way but couldn’t admit it to me. She couldn’t understand my desire for a child until she got her dog. We are different but in the end it’s all about love. Good luck with the new kitty and I hope everything goes the way you want it to. Have a great week!😊

I was going to jokingly comment on a previous video being like ‘two cats are better than one!!’ 🤪 but I know that it’s the biggest jump going from no pets to one. Just wanted to reassure you that it took our two cats like 4-6 weeks to tolerate each other (not the same litter though)😂 and then they became inseparable ❤

I think I want to have a cat because I think it would help my mental health, but I'm going to have to wait many years. I have a terrible salary and the rentals in my city do not allow pets. At the same time, I am very afraid of being responsible for someone's life. I always avoid having responsibilities that have nothing to do with me, but maybe it would be nice to open myself up to new experiences, I don't know.

Also awesome idea on two kittens! I think they’ll likely bond fast due to age. I got another one for my kitty and they are so bonded it’s so precious to watch. And play time is so fun! Two actually makes it easier on you bec they will wear each other out and not you or your furniture! But def invest in lots of scratch posts and toys anyway! Enjoy your new and exciting fur babies!

The more cats the better 🥰 my sisters and I rescued a litter of 5 & we already had 4 cats lol. Now we have a total of 7 at home. Kitties are awesome. They do their own thing, space for them doesn't really matter as long as they have your love which they will 🥰 I recommend window beds for them & installing floating shelves for kitties so they can play around and climb them.

I'm so excited for you! Space was also a concern for me when I adopted my second cat, but they still had plenty of zoomies and play time. After a few years, we were able to move to a bigger place and they're feeling right at home.

You can always foster the sibling and others. I definitely don't have room for a 2nd cat you have more room than I do. Nice to see you out and about. I agree it does make you calmer and less self focus on stress my cat has made me happier but we have our ups and downs. I have the same lambchop toy my furry kid doesn't play with his :( his soft catnip toys he does. I also have the same tail like wand. He doesn't play with much of any of his toys so I have stopped buying anymore.

In cats, the colors black and orange are linked to the X chromosome. Each X can only have one of the two colors, which is why almost all calicos are girls! If there’s a boy calico, he actually has three sex chromosomes (XXY)!

Hola Chelsea.

Some advices: A litter box with a roof is better because cats prefer to go to the toilet in a sheltered cave (it also doesn't smell as bad). Always place water and food in different places because cats would not drink their food in the wild (the water must always be clean and fresh and not contaminated by food).

As someone who adopted 2 cats at once since it was a 2fer, one cat, two cats, not much difference. I will say cat toys are a waste LOL. give them a shoestring and an empty amazon box and they're all set.
