This is the best Tai Chi I've ever seen! Thank you very much for this presentation, incredibly helpful to believe that such health and energy is possible at high age! Reminds me on Sergej Kasakov, I wish I would've continued learning from him... Dumb me. 🙏

That's a very lovely form, and expertly done of course. I'm a Yang stylist (bit of Sun) but for the last year been learning Chen (8, 11, and Laojia). In due course, hope I can add that version of the 13 - I especially like the dramatic height changes - from a martial point of view a fight is multi-dimensional and whilst keeping the waist level is important to introduce rooting and balanced movement, at a later stage up/down is really important - And I am not talking against arts (In my limited experience of it, Silat comes to mind) where up/down seems to be introduced early on.

Beautiful! Love it so much. The style is more leaning towards Master Ma Hong's style - my favorite! This master's fingers, the way the wrists rotate.. that was Ma Hong style. So delicate n beautiful. I seldom see such a beautiful, control movements in Chen Style... I can feel *the presence in the now* movements. Master Ma Hong has more power in the movement. But this one is also up there. What a wonderful, awesome performance. Thank You, Master Qi.

It's not Ma Hong. Master Qi Xiao Feng is actually a disciple of Grand Master Zhu Tian Cai who is one of the four main original grandmasters from Chen Village.

Yes, I agree. His style is more towards Ma Hong style, my favorite. The rhythmic style - GM Zhu TC is wonderful to watch. But overall, GM Ma Hong and this Master Qi are my preference so far. That feeling of Stillness in the movement is such a wonderful thing to behold. He is awesome.

I love this. Even though my instructor is teaching Yang 90% of what I learned looks like this rather than any videos I can find on Yang tai-chi (except the stomps and the occasional explosive punch which reminds of my Xing Yi). I wonder if modern Yang style has lost so much of the martial technique in the forms intentionally or as a side effect on the emphasis on softness.
@yangchensun55467 жыл бұрын
Yang has not lost anything. It only became less martial looking. It is still as good as Chen, if you have an instructor to show you the martial applications.
@jonmanilenio6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Yang is too slow and soft, in my opinion. I hope the 5th gen lineage holder (Yang Jun) updates the style to include some hard and fast moves, too, to balance the forms. LIfe is not all slow and soft after all :)
@thomasokedoke67006 жыл бұрын
Jon Manilenio Try to search Yang fast set routine. It is out there. It isn't all soft n slow.... learn more.

@ Jon Manilenio I cannot find any instructional video for the Chen 13 Form which is choreographed by GM Zhu Tiancai. However, there is one for the Chen 18 Form which is choreographed by another GM, Chen Zhenglei, which has an instructional video by Zeng Dongxia. If you learn this one, you should be able to pick up the Chen 13 Form quite easily, and need to only learn a couple or so movements in the Chen 13 Form (like Rooster Stands on One Leg and Repulse Monkey) on your own, simply by WATCHING and imitating those movements. If you do not understand Mandarin, then the Instructional Video by Zeng Dongxia is not going to be of much help to you. So, you may want to learn the one in the below link by Andrew Plitt. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5m2q615lq9prZo It's another Form choreographed by his teacher, and he has very generously made 27 videos to teach viewers like yourself FOC. He does not cut a DVD and asks people to buy it, which I think is very, very generous of him. Andrew is a very thorough and patient teacher...I do not know him, and my opinion is very objective...and I think his videos would be a good way to learn Chen Tai Chi step by step, if attending a school is not possible for you.

@@jonmanilenio , The first time I learned Yang Style.. I got greedy. At the same time, I learned Chen style the traditional Lao Jia Yilu with a different teacher. Another teacher noticed that, n gave me an important tip - choose your preference that fit your character n style. Yang and Chen are totally different in emphasis. Never mind with so many elite players that say they are the same... it is not! Yang style is continuously flowing steadily... Chen if you notice this beautiful video presentation, is slow almost to a freeze n suddenly can go fast... I have been accused my style of Yang has an added Chen taste... I cannot help it. Bastardized. Some elite Chen style players also perform Yang standardized style n it looked BLAND. My advice: Go deep into One style that you prefer. Technique wise... Chen is the most challenging ones. Make sure, your legs power n flexibility is there! Zhanzhuang is the beginning step to learn Chen style - practice 30 minutes standard. If you end up picking Chen style, Good luck.

这是朱天才创造的。岐晓峰是朱天才弟子 This 13 form is from grandmaster Zhu Tian Cai. This Master is Zhu's disciple. Basically je takes the original Lao Jia 74 form and extracting out the beginning sections + ending sections to make 13 forms.
