nooo, you misunderstood the part about the amusement park. It was ment to be open on the 1st of May 1986, but collapse happened before (28th of April)...As there was an amazing spot to watch the fire over the 4th block, people were going to the bridge, where they were getting high doses of radiation. So the authorities decided to open the park, before the official opening (1st of May was a huge public holiday in Soviet Union),just to distract the attention from the fire...It wasn't built JUST in one day, as it was planned as a park to be, but it was opened to distract the attention...

The story of the park( from a book )AND MY HISTORY OF THE YEAR:Why did a brand-new amusement park have such a short history? Less than two miles away from Pripyat was the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. An explosion at the plant on April 26, 1986, destroyed one of its reactors. Sending clouds of poisonous smoke into the air. Most of the people who lived in Pripyat works at Chernobyl. At first, no one was sure how dangerous the situation was. The government didn't want anyone to panic, so those in charge opened the amusement park ahead of schedule to keep people calm. The scope of the danger however soon became clear. The amount of radiation in the air could kill a person. Several people living in Pripyat became sick right away. The town was evacuated, though the people were told they could expect to be back in a few days. Years later, the town of Pripyat and it's park remains empty. The radiation levels are still too dangerous for humans to live there. Wolves and deer now roam the once bustling city. The ferris wheel still sits, waiting for riders to climb aboard. You are welcome it took me forever to write this. Let me die in peace

After the events of April 26th, the city was evacuated over a day later and the park went unused. It was NOT built as theorized in the video, to distract visitors or occupants from the reactor. Just not true.

I heard they were getting ready for some sort of festival, and that the Ferris Wheel in particular was never used because it was built just days before the accident happened. We'll never truly know for sure though, unless there's interviews from survivors who mention it or something, which I honestly doubt.

It was used but only in testing mode. There are probably photos of it on net if you are willing to spend the time to search for them. The nuclear meltdown occurred a day or two before the park was meant to open. Now it is frozen in time forever.

I've just found your videos and I have to say I'm impressed with how respectful you are with all of these places. So many people would just go in and take stuff or destroy things. I love how you are simply just trying to preserve the memory of these places so that future people can know what they were like, even years after they were in their prime. Thank you for being so respectful to these places; you've gained another subscriber. I do have to say the one thing that stood out between the videos in Chernobyl and videos from other places was the lack of graffiti and human destruction. It's amazing just how much damage nature alone can do to a place when humans are not allowed in. Imagine what this once beautiful city would look like if humans had been able to get in and loot/trash the place.

Yup, that Sniper Mission, you ran through the cultural center, and took the shot at the top of one of those high rises. And had to run and defend the amusement park until your extraction came. I loved that mission. Call of Duty 4 was my favorite COD game, and it still Nissan my favorite to this day. None of the new ones compare to the campaign and online game play.

I love exploring. I love history. I just love watching these videos. Chernobyl has always amazed me, I'd really like to visit it one day. So eerie yet fascinating. Will never forget the modern warfare days. The child laughter in the background as you walk in the exact building they went into. Both nostalgia and curiosity. Keep up the great work

I guess part is explained by the absence of quality materials, even when it was an expensive city at that time. I was wondering why all the glass would be broken ... There may be vandalism, yes, but I guess it's just bad quality. It's only 30 years ago, not 300 ..
