I think they force the engines to play a specific opening 8-10 moves. I think in Leela's database the opening end position might be lost already, so that she decided to just end it up. Traditional engines always go for a straight wins, however we have seen some weird behavior with Leela toying around when winning. May be this is something similar. This is just a speculation.

this game would have gone much differently had leelas engine been able to see thru that one. I put all of these moves thru leela and i opted to move the rook to defend the b7 pawn, that ended up with white still winning with pretty good odds. then i ran it again with the knight to E8 to defend b7 and got a much more balanced result, with a rook and knight vs rook and bishop end game. this is all on solely leelas engine, but still very interesting. so it would seem that for black, its best chance was to defend with the knight according to leelas own engine. it wasn't the top choice for that move, but it was one of the top choices. its top choice was the one they just displayed here with the queenside castle. leela seems slightly short on lines and tactics, but makes up for it with positional advantages.....nice vid!!

@PasseScience
@PasseScience 4 жыл бұрын
After checking with last nibler and last lc0net (last on release page) it' s actually true that Lc0 does not see well the Nc6 attack. But, after Nc6 it sees well the problem with less than 1second thinking and will avoid the checkmate (not avoid to lose the losing game, it's too late, but avoid losing it on the spot). So clearly if the checkmate was played in the game it's with Time control under 1second move.

lc0 isn’t that much better than sf12
@PasseScience
@PasseScience 4 жыл бұрын
@@kappablanca5192 Not sure you get the point, there is nothing special about Lc0 losing against SF12. what is anormal is Lc0 (or any 3500 + engine) missing a mate in 3... We actually never see mate like that in computer games. Seeing it only means ultra rapid time control for the match. Maybe something like 1/10s by move on a standard hardware. Even with my office laptop with a shitty graphic card Lc0 avoids this mating sequence faster than I can click it's suggestion... (

I find this odd. Even I saw that you cannot take the Knight and the following mate. For an engine, this is a total blunder. I am not sure that I would have seen the KF6 move in the first place but once played, it was clear that you cannot take the Knight. I am about 2000 ELO and do not have a chance against a strong engine.
