Yes made me so sad to hear him say Damiano was a weak player, poor Damiano was extremely strong for his time but his legacy is this opening that he didn't even like

Sometimes openings are named after the player who played them, other times it is named after the person who published the analysis of the opening. This is a case of the latter.

At 9:30: When they play g5, you actually have an even better move! If you play Queen f7, it leads into a mate in 5 sequence: 12. Qf7 Bb4+ 13. Nc3 Bxc3 14. bxc3 Bxe4 15. hxg5+ Qxg5 16. Rxh5# Of course, black's bishop moves are computer moves just played to delay the inevitable... If black does nothing to prevent it after Qf7, hxg5 followed by Rxh5 will be mate & cannot be stopped. Hope you find this interesting!

Can anyone explain the following. Butcher said that after you take the pawn with your knight, if the opponent moves anything but their queen, you check them with your queen.. but what if after your knight takes on E5, if they move their knight to E7?? It seems like a mistake to then check with your queen on H5. Am I wrong?

So they play g3 to block the check, then you take the pawn, they block with the Queen, then you take the rook, then they play Nf6 and trap the queen. Now what?

When queen goes to a5 you attack her with knight and give the piece back then move the rook to b8 and/if queen takes pawn on a7 move rook to b6. I've gotten out of those situations so many times and the best part is I came with it myself as a complete noob. Ha
@emitizmo7456
@emitizmo7456 2 жыл бұрын
By this time all your pieces are pretty much open while the opponent hasn't developed anything except queen and bishop so you can defend and attack however you want. I haven't lost a single game after managing to prevent the checkmate at the begging. Opponents are usually baffled and have no idea how to proceed.

You have something better than winning the queen for three minor pieces. You have unstoppable checkmate after you take the bishop and you play Qf5+ and d4+. Do NOT go for the bishop fork. Go for Qf7, and after dealing with any mate-delay checks (a.k.a. 12...Bb4+ 13.c3 Bxc3+),play hxg5+ and Rxh5#. Ran that through the computer, best moves for you.

@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial Also, according to the engine, after (4...fxe5?? 5Qh5+) actually the less bad option is to play g6. In my opinion, king move is only better if opponent forgot follow-up (which you of course don't know until you find out the hard way.)

Wait a second! (5:55) But after 4. Qh5+, g6. 5. Qxe5+, Qe7. If White takes the Rook on h8, is a blunder. Black has 6... Qxe4+ and they have won the initiative. So your theory to refute the Damiano defense is inaccurate.

@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial Don't take my comment the wrong way, please. Sorry if it sounded a little rough, I don't mean to disrespect here. But I really want to know more in depth about Damiano defense. To me, if White take the Rook on h8, seems a questionable move. Could you explain that variation?
@MiodragPerunovicOfficial
@MiodragPerunovicOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
“So, your theory to refute the Damiano defense is inaccurate” - as far as I am concerned it sounds very tendentious. Anyways, after 6. Qh8 Qe4 7. Kd1 White is up an exchange and pawn while Qg8 is threatened too. All things considered, engine says + 3... i guess they know better than both of us...
