The problem here is that every language does this to fit the phonology of their own language. For example, look at how all the romance languages pronounce and spell the name Christopher.

Well, everyone pronounces 'Magnus' incorrectly. The first vowel is like the a in 'car' and not like the a in 'sad'. But as they say in the video, I guess that would be too much to expect.

Pronunciation is finicky. Phonological nativization is something that occurs in every language, though, not just English. Two Russians discussing an American don't suddenly drop their accent for a tenth of a second just to say the person's name in the middle of a sentence. I think it's just noticed more with English because of English's current position as a lingua franca. As far as Yasser saying Michael and not Mikhail, it's not as common these days, but it used to be the norm to, for example, use the French version of a name when speaking French, and the Spanish version when speaking Spanish. This is why many famous people in history are well known with multiple versions of the same name. I like that practice, so I introduce myself with the different versions of Aaron based on the language of who I'm talking to.
