Chester Bennington performed at the funeral of his close friend Chris Cornell just two months before he took his own life. Chester was good friends with the Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman, and sang a haunting version of Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah at his funeral on May 26.
The 41-year-old sang the ballad alongside Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson at the memorial service at the Hollywood Forever cemetery.
The funeral was private but as it took place outside, waiting fans could hear Chester’s performance, with recordings of the poignant song surfacing online.
Bennington was godfather to one of Chris’s children, and he was hit hard by the star’s death back in May.

I hate when people say Chester lost his fight with depression. No, he beat it for decades. We all die eventually and every breath is a victory. That life doesn't go on forever doesn't make it a failure.

This. I hateitwhen people assume Robin Williams just had depression and that he shouldve asked for help. Some are done suffering, and you'll never knoe someone's pain. After the autopsy the doctors were amazed he(Williams)could even walk or talk, so he had suffered enough. Rest in peace Chester and Robin and everyone❤

@@floyd66brescia48 I wonder sometimes if it was murder since they (Chris and Chester) were going to release a pedo ring documentary exposing the industry. I mean either way it's still a huge loss but I just wonder about that part.

SteveThePirate80 Full aware of the pedo ring too Steve. Our goverment is filled with pedavors and chomos and worse. The Evil they are capable of, is unfathomable. And they protect one another, and extort our once great nation. But two things make me not believe the “ murder conspiracy” He himself (Chris) chose to sing “ in my time of dying”, when his normal Zepplin song was “thank you”, And the expression I mentioned before about Chesters last show, seemed very determined and filled with resolve. Either way a tragic loss for all of us, especially their wives and children. But i do continue to wonder too man, just how evil is our government could infact be…Like Mick said “after all it was you and me” and That was a presidential murder…Anything is possible…Peace Bro.

@sreppup It isn’t our responsibility to help others?! Especially those who are suffering with mental health issues and suicidal ideation? In this instance, there wasn’t much that fans could do to directly help Chester, but we can still help now by keeping his memory alive, continuing to speak out about mental health to help reduce the stigma, and reaching out to help others who are struggling whether they be friends or strangers on the internet. Congratulations, you might just be one of the most selfish people ever. Maybe YOU should seek help for your sociopathic tendencies.

This is such a sad thing to see. I've struggled personally with both depression and drug addiction. Music was my peaceful place to withdraw to and just get out of my head. I've been a sound garden and linkin park fan my entire life. Both bands have been a huge part of my life and my sobriety. Not even money, success, fame, etc can be enough to motivate someone struggling to reach out & ask for help. THIS NEGATIVE STIGMA ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH HAS TO STOP!! How many more preventable deaths have to occur before it's enough. Asking for help, especially when it's so dire can seem an impossible task. It doesn't have to, if you or anyone you know struggles with depression. You're not alone and there's confidential help out there. I'm still here today because I made the decision to get the help I so desperately needed. Now I'm a firm advocate for mental health awareness and treatment. I proudly share my story today because the thought of my loved ones losing me, is FAR more terrifying to me than taking that 1st step ever was. Even in your most lonely times, you're never alone.
