If you replace valve cover, don't forget to use gasket sealer by the top and bottom bumps by the timing chain or it can likely lead to a leak

This car is a rare case where I’d tell someone to just replace the car ASAP. It’s a nightmare

Yes the oil leak is because of that orange diaphragm failure. That orange diaphragm is basically the PCV valve and with it malfunctioning or gone ( where does it go I have never heard of anyone finding it ) the pressure inside the valve cover increases to a level that will “ blow out “;the gaskets on the valve cover, timing cover, cam covers and oil pan. Yes the GM solution is to replace both the valve cover and the intake manifold, but it will happen again in 25,000 to 50,000 miles or so. Of course you also need to fix the timing cover leak so do that before installing the new valve cover. Also, when removing that plastic hose and fitting from the intake ( where you looked in to see if the orange thing was there ) be careful to NOT lose the O ring and plastic retainer from inside that plastic connector as it won’t seal properly if it’s not in there ( tape th3 end until you need to reinstall it so those pieces don’t fall out ).

Excellent explanation of the problem with this Cruze. I also have 2014 Chevy Cruze Lt. My question is can the orange check valve inside intake manifold be changed by itself without taking all intake manifold off? Also you mentioned new intake manifold with improved orange check valve not coming off anymore, can I get part # or something where I can buy? Thanks for the video any feedback appreciated
@gautorepair7 ай бұрын
No you can not replace just the check valve. The intake can be purchased from local auto parts stores like autozone, advanced, etc.

I've done this. They put the PVC valve on the intake on purpose. Charge more for a simple basic problem.

Not sure. But i would think if it has the same intake and valve cover design then yes

If I have these problems but only the p0420 DTC, is it still the same problem? Have some exhaust leaks further down the line but they were fixed and the code keeps coming back
@TheRelinquished9 Жыл бұрын
Also, now my car seems to be having trouble starting initially and runs rough as I said.
@gautorepair Жыл бұрын
If you have a p0420 code then that's a catalytic converter issue. But before you replace anything get proper diagnostics done

I have been asking the same thing everywhere, It seems that the 1.8L does not have that orange valve
