Chevy S-10 hinge pins, door pin replacement 2000 2001 2002 2003

A quick video on how to replace worn hinge pins and bushings on the Chevrolet S-10 Pickup. Helps fix the sag in the door and having to slam or lift the door all the time. Be careful when both pins are out, because the door can drop. With the door roller spring you can also pry it out and then clamp it in a vice and loop some steel wire through the coil spring, to hold it tight together, and then cut the wire when it is in place, but wear goggles as the spring can fly out. Do not use copper wire. It will break. Hinge pin kit used is Dorman part number 38419. 2 Kits are required. This repair took about an hour and a half. With a helper it would have gone a bit quicker.

About to go out and start the prices for the drivers side. Stahodad, excellent execution, great this old fashioned layman terms instructions. My top hinge inserts were rusted out. 1. I propped the door up to it's correct height 2. I used long neck needle nose pliers to hook a suitably sized harbor freight lynch pin into the space between the door brackets along the door pin. 3. Twisted the lynch pin until it was tight, then bent back where it won't interfere with the mechanics of the hinge. 4. Removed the bucket I used to prop up the door. I fixed this problem in a minute and a half for less than a dime, and it'll last until another one goes. Then I'll think about getting a kit or modifying the truck. Truth is, you could probably do this twice for each hinge and never have a problem with it. You could probably do it with a thick steel wire, too. I hit it with silicone lubricant before and after I did this, in hopes that it won't bind. Doesn't so far. This door works better than it ever has. No squeaks, no clicks. Lines right up. A $500 car doesn't merit $1000 worth of my time for a door. I save that energy for under the hood.

Use a bolt and nut to press the bushings in.

How do you replace the inside pin on the top side? This video shows both outer pins. I need to replace the pin with the roller, not the two that have bushings.

There`s a co. named Total Automotive.OEM Parts Specialist.com.This is where I bought my front door hinge pins and bushings.They cost a little more than Dorman Brand but well worth it.

Endurapins worked better than dorman for me.
