As a veteran camper, a couple options to throw out there: 1: put (cooked) rice on the bottom to absorb the liquid and flavor the rice 2: make sure to put the foil packs in ziplock bags so they don't get broken in the cooler and leak raw chicken juices on everything 3: instead of actual foil use those disposable foil trays. They're sturdier and can stand up to fire better, plus can act like a plate after cooking Happy camping everybody!

agreed, except it is obvious none of them have REALLY been camping. That ice in the ice chest is going to last 1 to 1 1/2 days MAX. (Depending what time of year and where you camp). Rolling t heir eyes at canned chicken, when it is as versatile on a camping trip. Maybe they have been cabin camping or RV camping.

Canned Chicken. Many years ago, my wife and I were sailing a boat from Mackinac Island to Detroit. On day two of the voyage, the captain/owner of the boat pulls out a whole canned chicken wrapped it in foil with some vegetables and seasoning. Cooked it up and served it with a loaf a bread. Best (and only) damn canned chicken I have ever had. Bon appetite!

I'm glad you mentioned canned chicken from Costco. I have five cans sitting in the cupboard for some time (not expired) as I was not impressed with it the first try (I just mixed it with Hellman's). Sam, if you could, *please* do a video/recipe whereby I can use it, as I don't want to waste it/throw it away. I think canned tuna is better, except for its mercury contamination. Made this last night with potatoes. Boiled the potatoes for 12 minutes before adding to the mix, then cooked the wraps in the oven. Mine took about 40 minutes at 350F to cook the chicken and they turned out amazingly good.

We made these with hamburger, onion, carrots & potatoes back in the '70s when I was in Boy Scouts. We cooked them directly on the campfire coals & called them Silver Turtles. This is a much better modern spin on Silver Turtles. Thank you Sam!!

This inspired tomorrow’s lunch. Grilling up chicken for salads. Using the soy sauce, garlic, and pepper marinade which tastes great on chicken too. So I’m using the leftover chicken to make chicken bacon ranch tacos. Can’t wait to eat them, YUMMY!!!!

This one is awesome for my summer! We have a pontoon boat on a lake in New York and get tired of just throwing burgers or steaks on the grill when we are out enjoying the water for dinner! I love making these foil packets while camping. We used to do beef and potatoes in the BSA.
