This movie just shows how some movie studios treat a movie franchise. The movie studio lost the rights to the name Charles Lee Ray and his entire backstory. But they still wanted to cash in on the Child's Play name and movie franchise. So they made Chucky a electronic toy gone wrong because that was their only option. Because a voodoo ritual was a part of the original Chucky's backstory so they lost that too. So the movie studio had to make him a electronic toy gone wrong. That on the other hand could never happen with Michael Myers and Halloween. Because John Carpenter came up with both Michael Myers backstory and his look. So if he ever got the rights back to Halloween the movie studio would literally have nothing to work with. Because John Carpenter created everything in the first Halloween movie the movie studio only funded it. They had no creative input whatsoever so they would end up with nothing in court. Friday the 13th the movies not the television series that's a completely different thing. But the movies the original screenwriter got the rights to everything in the first movie. That means the name Jason Voorhees his backstory you know him dying by drowning in 1957 or whenever as a child. The movie studio only got the rights to image of a guy in a hockey mask. Because they added that after the first movie a judge ruled they did. Not have permission to use the name Jason Voorhees past the first movie. So the movie studio lost the rights to that name and his backstory. So if the movie studio wanted to go forth and make another movie on their own. Without original screenwriters permission they would have to reboot and give the killer a complete whole new name and backstory. Like they did in this movie for Chucky. This is why I think out of all of the horror movie franchises. You have been watching A Nightmare on Elm Street is the best one. Because there's only eight original movies Wes Craven was welcome back at any time. They occasionally consulted him about the movies. They even asked him to write and direct them from time to time. Wich he did if he had an idea for one. So that show that New line Cinema actually cared about it and cares about it as a movie franchise. Because they constantly kept Wes Craven involved and had him work on it as much as he want it to. Unlike Child's Play , Halloween and Friday the 13th. Those movie studios behind them Friday the 13th is ify because at some point New Lime Cinema got that movie franchise. But that happend long after part 9 I believe but before that. That other Movie Studio and the ones behind Halloween and Child's Play. Really didn't care anything about them as long as they can make a movie and make money. That shows in this movie the movie studio new they lost everything that made Chucky Chucky. And they did not care and still made a movie anyways to cash in that movie franchise. This is a true cash grabe movie .

I know this stuff is not necessarily fun facts. But from what I seen all of you are unknowingly Liking. More movies that had people working on them that cared about the movie. Like for example you liked Halloween 4 that movie's director actually. Cared about the movies that came before it an he wanted to continue it. The director of Halloween 5 did not care about it he just wrote a script that made the movie studio happy. You liked the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie and the third one better even the forth one better. Then the second one Freddy's Revenge. The director of the second one apparently hated everything about Freddy Krueger. From the first movie so he made him how he thought he should have been in the first movie. So he did not care about the movie franchise he only cared about what he wanted. Then the Child's Play movie franchise it seem like you like the original 3 movies more. The ones working on them then cared about continuing the story and it's continuity. More then the ones that followed the piont I bring this up is. You are starting to notice when someone behind a movie actually. Cares about the movie more than just making money from it. Because I know the point of a movie is to make money but it can be done in a way that shows you care and respect it. That is with a sequel or prequel you stay true to the core story but you can. Still do your own thing as long as you stay true to the core story an its facts. Case in point the ones you had problems with. Halloween 5 didn't care about any story just did what the movie studio wanted him to do. Nightmare on Elm Street 2 didn't like Freddy Krueger from the start. So he reinvented him to his liking not caring about the first movie at all. The Child's Play movies after the 3rd one. They basically stopped caring about continuity and it shows in the movies by things being random from Movie 2 movie. The fact that you are starting to see what movies have actual care put behind them. Then wich ones don't without even knowing it. Is a good thing because some people fail to see that care. That was actually put into the movies they just blindly accept what every movie says. Even if it is a sequel that counters the movie that came before. Wich is sad because it's when someone doesn't care about a movie or a movie franchise. That you end up with a movie like Jason X. Seriously the fact that they are still making Halloween movies with Michael Myers. I'm waiting for Michael Myers to be in space killing aliens on a alien planet on Halloween. Even then there will still be people blindly accepting it I can almost guarantee it.

Fun fact this movie 🎬 is kinda blackballed from the chuck franchise because it's not directed by Don mancine the og chuck creature and new line cinema produced this movie without his permission because they own 50 of the rights which is why Tiffany and many other actor refused to be in this

I also liked it.Very much went back to the dark suspense vibe of the 1988 original with a little bit of "Stranger Things" in modern times energy towards the end and the corrupted AI befriending boy and turning on him out of a sense of rejection concept was a lot like "Small Soldiers".

This wasn’t the best to me they didn’t bring back Brad Dourif to play the voice the remake wasn’t my cup of tea it was definitely more brutal than some of the older movies but I didn’t like it really I’ll stick to the older Chucky but btw what Drew said about them naming it Good Guy that’s actually what it was gonna be named before Childs Play back in 1988 but I love the reaction I watch literally every horror movie reaction you guys should check out the 1st season of the Chucky tv show it’s only 8 episodes I think it’s on Peacock still

The sad thing is this was a cash grab. It’s not that bad of a film but they aren’t able to make a sequel legally since mgm only owns the film rights to Childs Play 1 which is why they were able to make this movie while Universal Studios owns everything from Childs Play 2-the Chucky TV show. But I would be open to a sequel to the 2019 reboot

It was a good remake but not deserving of the Child's Play title. Chucky is a personality in the original series. In this remake he's just an AI and it was hard to really buy into it. Especially if they'd planned a sequel or two. Like, how is one AI going to keep going after one kid? Lol. I liked the original voodoo story better just because it was a serial killer inside a doll. This didn't have his classic one liners either and I can see why a sequel was never green lit and instead they brought back the original in a TV Series. I did enjoy the story here, but it should of been it's own thing not working off of the title Child's Play.
