in order to overcome that TBR-pile-anxiety, I usually set a limit for myself; so for example I aim to have no more than 7 unread books on my shelves. And if I violate that I would like punish myself by not letting myself read the books I bought extraneously, until I finished the books I bought before them. Although, this may or may not be problematic if you are a mood reader.

Also many of these reads are rereads #NoRegrets I want to get rid of my old books but I can't abandon my old Twilight books that I have both in English and in Estonian. I can't get rid of books that sre nostalgic to me.

If you only get stressed out about all the books you need to read you will not enjoy reading that book. But as you say, it's not a first world problem, we have much bigger issues than that.

I told myself that I wouldn't buy ANY new books until I have finished reading everything on my tbr pile! I feel like a book has feelings. They are brought to our shelves with the anticipation of being read and it hurts me seeing a book not read. I think this is a good way to not only save money but also have more space for the books that be near and dear to your heart. In the future, I will keep a limit of 3 unread books on my shelf. As with audiobooks, they dont up not physical space so I'm okay with a lot of tbr's in that pile. Much love Jesse!

Honestly on the topic of unread books, those books are sometimes the only thing that keeps me going some days. Like my mind tells me I have so many stories left to read that I have to keep reading. What a great idea for a video :)! I loved Under Rose-Tainted Skies! I also loved A Darker Shade of Magic & the other two books (the second was my least favourite one though). I hope you enjoy the second and third book too :). My unread books don't bother me, I love buying books too much to seriously get my TBR down, and since I'm a huge mood reader, I feel like I need a huge TBR lol. I hope you'll be able to finish some of those books you started, but I totally get about being in the wrong mood to continue a book. I've been re-reading The Neutronium Alchemist by Peter F. Hamilton (The Night's Dawn book 2), for several months now. It's adult epic science-fiction and somehow I only read a few pages or a chapter at a time, then I want to go and read a different book. I've been more into YA contemporaries and into memoirs recently, and not so much into science-fiction and fantasy. The Night's Dawn trilogy is one of my favourite books, at least they were many years ago when I read them. And yet my mood is so not helping in re-reading this trilogy.

I totally unhauled a bunch of books I hadn't read this weekend as well; it felt so good to take them to the thrift store. So while I still have a bunch of unread books it's all things I want to read and I'll check back in at the end of the year to see how I feel. Sometimes I don't think it's worth it to keep pushing through a book that isn't working for you, go for it. I have 6 books on my bed that I'm currently trying to decide what I'm in the mood for, so I feel your struggle. Really dug this style of video Jesse. :)

for a REALLY long time, the idea of having a TBR book pile stressed me out so much that I just didn't have one. I just didn't have any type of system to know what I want to eventually read. The problem with that is whenever I finished a book I would never know what to read next and I would just walk around the library for an hour looking for a book, it wasn't very productive. But as of the end of 2017 (ish) I finally started using the "for later" shelf on my public library app which is an easier way to keep the books I want to read organized but without all the scary pressure of a TBR pile.

My pile of unread books is so large now that if I think about it too much I get stressed out. So I don't think about it. I just display it and make my TBR and hope for the best because my mood changes so much, but I finished King's Cage and the next got me stuck because the intro takes so long to get through, so I don't know how much help that'll be. I finally finished part 1 of the poppy war and I need to just sit and read but I can't get myself to read for long periods of time like I used to. This vid is just what I needed, thanks. :)

It was a tad weighing on me at the beginning of the year when I had a huge pile of unread books. It Im getting/got rid of some (ones I was given and have no intention of reading as they either - didn’t interest me or they are part of a huge fit of books and I don’t want to commit to so many books) and then Iv also read a load of books. So I now finally have 1 book in my TBR list (until another arrives in the post this weekend ). Plus I have a few un-read books in a box packed for moving I intend to read in the future.

I don't really concern myself too much with TBRs or unread books because I consider reading as something that brings me tranquility and a sense of serenity rather than something that could bring me anxiety or unnecessary pressure. Being a mood reader like yourself, setting a TBR engenders this sentiment of obtrusive obligation upon me, and throughout time it begins accumulating impending portions that I begin to beat myself down for not having picked up the books I settled upon, so ultimately I just go for whatever book I'm in the mood for, whether that be a classic, a middle grade, YA, thriller, you name it. I found that this is the best way for me to not only read at leisure, but also enjoy the act of reading and not think about the other books that I still haven't read, because for as long as I'm living, I have a conviction that I'll read them, as I know they'll be waiting. Sorry for rambling on too long! 😅 I just really enjoyed your video; it was rather pleasing and relaxing, and I wanted to be a part of the chit-chat 😊

I'm the type of reader that when i have a large tbr thats a good thing because it means i have more books to read and i'm not able to get a lot of books throughout the year. For me, I go in between being stressed out about my TBR and not caring. I think I get stressed out about it because I get a lot of grief from other people, my parents, my partner because I spend all this money on these books and they say well are you going to read them? Otherwise it’s a waste of money. Then I go into stages where I don’t care because that I think of it as when I want to read a book I have so many options and I’m not gonna sit there being like well I have nothing to read. So I totally get what you mean when you say you go in between being stressed and Non- stressed about it. Also I find right now there’s so many amazing author is coming out with amazing books in series that it’s hard to keep up with the books already on my TBR and adding books to my TBR. More books come out faster than I can read them! So I never actually make a dent!!

I'm in two minds about my TBR Jesse. One: its incredibly stressful and seems like a perpetual game of catch up with everyone else who has long since read the books and I feel like I will never finish. Two: I know there are always good books (aka magic portals as you call them) for me to jump into.
