Nobody should or can dictate what their young generation should or shouldn't like. Especially from an old fart politician. That's not how it works. I agree, they will never be Westerners or Europeans. Japan and Korea are Japan and Korea! They have a deep, rich culture and history. Legends, stories, morals, philosophy. Why would they want to be anything else.
@CreazyPeazy
@CreazyPeazy Жыл бұрын
Because they acknowledge the fact that the west has historically contributed to the world more than any other continent. That goes from art to Technology. Japan and Korea was built by the americans and especially the older generations havent forget this. Sure they have interesting and rich culture and history but that alone is not enough to create the world we live in now. I watched an interview between a german and an old japanese man and he told the german that he admired Germany and it's wealth. Japanese people would never be able to build something like this by themselves. He described the japanese as hardworking people who are where they are now mostly thanks to the americans and their sheer willingness to sacrifice their life for the community. So the reason why they are trying to imitate the west might be simply due a deep seated admiration (even if they dont want to admit it). I'm from an asian country myself and my folk would never bring great minds like Michelangelo, Bach, Faraday, Tesla etc etc to light

The Chinese government really doesn't care about the fashion of the Koreans and the Japanese. The relationship between China and the USA is very tense now. It started to get worse due to China's unfair trade practices and the US reacting to it with decoupling/derisking. It got even worse during the pandemic. China doesn't want South Korea and Japan to be allied with the US. In reality, South Korea is under constant threat from North Korea. Having US troops in South Korea makes North Korea reluctant to invade. South Korea doesn't want war with China. Japan has been threatened by both North Korea and China. Most of the Asian-Americans don't know about this because this rarely gets mentioned in the American news.

I agree with the sentence he said. The thing though is that Korea (especially K-Pop) isn't necessarily trying to be western because of appreciation. It's more that Korea had no other chance to get economic world success, but making K-Pop more accessible and attractive to westerners. They knew that traditional Asian music will never be any successful in the west, while western music can be successful in Asia. Some cultural scientists call this phenomenon "cultural imperialism". Koreas first steps with K-Pop opened the door for other Asian countries to be heard from west as well.

I remember one Chinese man saying that "Taiwan plays baseball because it is trying to be more like Americans." (Surprisingly, Japan and South Korea also like baseball.) @@GIN.356.A Yeah. One fact is that Japan and South Korea don't see China as an ally. The result of pernicious American influence, no doubt. "You don't need to project power if it's in your own backyard?" I think Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines would like a word. Here's another fact: Greater East Asian Prosperity Sphere. OMG - David and Andrew, I just happened to click on this video by some random reason and boy what a pleasant surprise. I am happy to see that your channel has grown over the years and it appears from your conversation and topics so have you. First let me say congratulations on keeping it clean for so long. Just speaking from the content presented in this video, I must say that It was refreshing to see you hold your ground and defend your positions as (MEN). I have watched you guys over the years and just figured that you are young men just having fun, trying to survive and find your path in life. I will tell you that I am a BLACK (African American) and I was wondering how you would R.E.A.C.T to the statements made by the CHINESE politician saying that you would never be western. If life can teach us anything it is no matter where you go in this world, (You are either one of us or one of them). If you were to embrace the logic or rallying call to join the CHINESE and become a United Asian Group, do you think it would change your position as one of us or one of them? Could you join and lead or join and follow? China's government has built a network of internment camps in Xinjiang, a region in northwest China that is home to about 11 million Uyghurs. Would your fate be any different from those guys? I salute both of you, David and Andrew, the fact that you are able to think for yourselves and not be influenced or enticed by racist comments. I am happy to see that you are never willing to accept that fact that someone else can tell you just how much your value in life is and self worth are, or ever will be. I would hope that ALL of your viewers would have the intellect to recognize this statements for what they are. As you both know, the world is changing and we are all getting closer together global trading and financial agreements that span across many borders. You have spoken wisely to that fact that each country is judged on the international stage based on it's own behavior and merits with its surrounding neighbors and also in the international community. So, from silly to serious, I think you guys will be just fine. As quiet as things are kept, I think at some point in our lives many of us face racism, which is one of the ugliest sides of humanity. It is easy for a political official to speak about Asian Unity, but try leaving this country or this way of life and actually go through the process of even trying to travel to CHINA to become part of that movement and see how drastic the changes would be to be. Oh, you may not be able to tell who is from which Asian Country, but once you speak the gig is up. I know America in not perfect and some days I wish I had my own little peace of heaven on earth. Would you leave the USA and give up this way of life? Do you think you would be happier in CHINA as a Korean or Japanese? There is a video on the tube entitled "You will never be Chinese". Be who you are and I think that will bring you the most happiness in your life. Peace to you all.

South Korea and Japan have adopted the ideals of Enlightenment with Asian characteristics. They’ll never be Europeans and they never wanted to be Europeans. There is an emerging idea that “Western” means not a geographical or racial concept but a set of beliefs along with institutions that bring those ideas into reality. In this sense, Asian countries can become modern nations that respect the sovereignty of the individual. The best examples are South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. It is the PRC that is politically backward and still believes in the ideas now abandoned by modern Asian nations. It’s desperation for Wang Yi to turn the struggle between the PRC and the US into a racial conflict. The reality is that this is a struggle by all against backward ideas pushed by Beijing.

You're wrong. Where did you get this idea that western ideology is somehow superior and is modern/forward/progressive? I get a sense that it would be difficult for you to understand how wrong you are for having those beliefs. Are you a person that's truly objective? What do you think about the NATO and American illegal wars and war crimes? Is that the western way? Is that what an enlightened culture does? You don't actually understand what sovereignty is.
@JD-yz4kr
@JD-yz4kr Жыл бұрын
Emerging idea ? More like implanted propaganda. So-called Western set of beliefs are congruent with majority white, european descended populations, so in this respect, it is racial. Western beliefs emphasizes moral and political beliefs, that egoistically, are based on their own beliefs, and considers themselves as superior to everyone else's. Once this concept of innate superiority made Westerners to unilaterally, and often violently, impose their beliefs on others as part of the idea that superior beings must dominate inferior or lesser beings. Hence the resulting western colonialism and imperialism. Modern western thinking has disowned that philosophy of dominance, however instead, Westerners , out of guilt, now carry the 'White Man's Burden' of HELPING the inferior jungle residents of the world to become civilized and live in the European garden, like other Westerners. Americans, specifically, must assimilate their colored brothers (brown, yellow, red, etc.) out of benevolence, into the American way. This need to assimilate does not respect sovereignty. In fact, western beliefs are used to justify the invasion of countries, under the pretense of "humanitarian intervention". That precisely is the danger of South Kore and Japan getting brainwashed with Western beliefs. The lack of respect for nation's sovereignty is exactly why.

Not in Asian culture, in Japan the nail that sticks out gets hammered down. Asians from what I can glean are taught to conform, hide their feelings and follow strict Confucian principles where they have to defer to the elder and have hierarchal relationships. The women are trapped in gender roles and in America they sleep with white men to express freedom and rebellion and sometimes marry Asian men but secretly hate them. China is saying to Asians that they should follow Confucian principles and respect the elder brother China. Because of this system, innovation is tough so Asian culture and people are frustrated and try to act aggressive and macho, but no one takes them seriously.

Koreans are generally Korean but Japanese can be divided by Japanese and Ainu. In China alone you have Manchu, Hezhen, Xibo, She, Yao, Uyghur, Tu, Hui, Han, Tujia, etc. China has 56 officially identified ethnic groups. By "You will never be westerners" does he actually mean 'you will never be white'? The comments about hair and noses are what makes me wonder. As a western/white person I don't feel it's appropriate to give an opinion. Not to say I have one on this, I honestly don't know what to think or feel on it whether good, bad or neutral. The only thing I can say is that I like asian people as much as I do any other people in the world - any personal like or dislike of anyone is strictly kept singular rather than expanded to a whole. I've always considered any minorities and/or migrants welcome in my country of the US though I know some don't share the feeling. I also appreciate migrants and minorities because the US wouldn't exist without the migrants who built it. Immigrants are my favorite thing about the US even though it's not unique to the US, it's likely in greater numbers here. On a lighter note, I consider natural asian physical traits beautiful and their cultures & history seem fascinating and rich to me in a way I just don't see about my own country or race. Natural looks or not, controlling your own appearance for what makes you happy and express who you are individually is a great thing no matter what country, race or gender you are. So, I'll just listen to your takes on this.

He means that no matter what they do, white males will always see them as inferior animals and try to screw them over at work, and in life for no reason other than the way they look (I'd say 85% of them, about only a third are consciously aware and happy that they are doing it), and white females to a lesser degree (although it might just be subconscious and they wont admit it) depending on what media and influences the females were exposed to. I dont blame them, males deep down want to kill other males who look and think more differently from them (more often and intensely by people of British, german, and west European ancestry), but the law and being ostracized by women and society prevents that. Being female usually shields you from these realities, as they try to do it away from you and while they're not in a potential sexual relationship with you. It's nice that you're trying to be noble and fair, but the reality is we are not welcome. Also, they're not doing it because it makes them happy or to Express themselves, they're doing it with the hope of fitting in so they might get treated less badly. I think the reason why you claim to not be like that might be because you play games so you're part of the neurodivergent/mildly autistic crowd. It's a neurotypical thing most of the time, but not always.. some neurodivergent take it too far because they dont know social boundaries or care what people think.

Today, they still talk shit about Russians. At the end of the day, they're still white. Look at this Russian Ukraine conflict. In the states, you got some White Americans supporting Russians. Because they understand why Russian did what they did. But you ask them about China, and the support isn't there. You can give them all the info. And they'll still refuse to see through. China isn't white. They've no connection to China whatsoever. I'm not Han Chinese. I'm not Japanese. I'm not South Korean. And I know other bigger Asian groups talk shit about mines. But I know mines also talk shit about them. Lol. Regardless..at the same time, at the end of the day. I know I got more in common with these groups than I do any European groups.
