Have you been to Chinatown in Japan? Did you know there is a Chinatown in Japan? Actually there are a few and one is within walking distance of my home in Tokyo. Follow me throughout a day in the life of a multi-lingual person. I will be shocking Chinese immigrants by speaking Chinese and meeting my Japanese friend. Tokyo is an international city!
Below are language learning tools I have personally used for years. Direct purchases of software from these links goes to supporting this channel.

This is my 3rd time doing a collaboration with a small KZbinr. Recently I have gotten many requests from viewers to collaborate with big KZbinrs. As a small KZbinr, I have no connections at all. If you want me to collaborate with your favorite KZbinr (living in China or Japan) you need to write it on their videos. I have no power to make that happen, only you do. -Anming

@MrHoppers002 No need to feel ashamed for not speaking your mother tongue. In linguistics, it is a common phenomenon that some in a society with a different dominant language gravitate towards that. Native language is awesome and beautiful to comprise. It can get lost, though. For instance, as an African American, my native language happens to be English; albeit, I'll never know my true mother tongue(s). It's impossible to tell, due to slavery. I envy my coworkers from Africa that know theirs 😅. But I learned long ago that one shouldn't feel ashamed if they don't. We're only human. I speak a multitude of languages, now, through study. The sole purpose of language is to communicate, to be understood.
@z_ed
@z_ed 4 жыл бұрын
@MrHoppers002 I got you. I didn't mean to imply that you, yourself, were ashamed. I was speaking in generality. Where I live ( America/Florida) we have a predominant latin community; they tend to have Spanish as their native language. Some friends I've grown up with have felt ashamed at the fact that, whilst they understood Spanish, they didn't speak it. That sentiment always made my heart feel heavy, on their behalf. I just always wanted to let them know that there is no shame in that. No need to feel embarrassed 🙂 It doesn't change their heritage or even who they are.

@MrHoppers002 That's true.. I married a russian-speaking Ukrainian who came to Canada at 3 years old and still holds her spoken mother tongue perfectly. (Funny enough, she can't write it at all). I'm completely interested in it and it's really only because of ME that encourages that our son learn it as well. She could really care less. Does it still count for children where only 1 parent is native to that language? lol I dunno.. I'd say yes.

The best thing about your video's is that you use and speak Japanese and Chinese in the way that native speakers actually speak during daily interactions. It is nice to hear language as it is really used. Although because I had planned not to visit Japan due to Olympic crowds, now covid has made Tokyo seem almost empty. I enjoy the real day in life views that you provide. Thanks

Yes, you are very observant. The "grunting" sounds are very important in Chinese and Japanese. It's even important when speaking English to Japanese people here. They expect you to make some sounds like that or they might think you are not listening or you didn't understand what they said.

Currently I am learning my wife's language of Finnish 🇫🇮 and I am beginning to dip my toe into learning Japanese, but I am now thinking that maybe Mandarin could be a language to start with, and then move onto Japanese. You said in a recent video that for English speakers which I am, I'm from the UK, that a simpler route into Japanese is through Mandarin. I am going to give it some thought, and in the meantime I will carry on with some basic learning of Japanese 😀

Once I get my Japanese where I want it, I'd love to learn Mandarin next. Thanks for the video! Edit: Ikebukuro looks so different now! And that crepe is so nostalgic. I really hope I can move back to Japan this fall.

Rxx X Japan is just so different from the west. So if you don’t like your own country, you definitely will fall in love with it at first. But you might miss your own culture after a while. It’s actually not easy to fit in if you’re not good at observing like Anming.

Hello Chicago! It's going to be a really hot summer here. It always is. It's not like summer in Chicago. Summer here really sucks and it's super humid. Spring is really nice though. Of course it's clean and beautiful. Japan always is.
