December 7th 2021 One year & one month since I brought my chinese diesel heater, I went to turn it on , and heard "Click", with no heat, no sound, no light on the controller. I am saying all this to say "Thank You",for making this video.. After watching your video, and a few checks with a multimeter I figured out that the controler was gone. I did as you recommended and brought another diesel heater.( cause just the ECU, may cost more than the whole heater) With alot of praying and patience I got the plugs to fit into one another, installed the ECU, and changed the controller. The controller has to match the ECU, or you'll get the E-07, code. Thank you!

@@vanlifesurvivorsguide I will be polite and say that the Chinese engineers have a sense of humour as they make sure we spend lots of time fixing their kit without manuals, and using a jungle telegraph system of teaching. I have just given up on a unit which failed on a fan error. It completely filled the boat with thick smoke which took weeks to clear of odours. After buying a replacement board and sensor, mating the controller to it by altering the voltage to 12v, swapping the sensor and fan plugs round, and moving the fan earth lead to the outer pin, the little bugger booted up and warmed up nicely. It soon began to speed up the fan then an almighty crunching sound occurred and the fan error code came up and the unit went dead in a cloud of smoke. It now starts at full fan speed and fails in 3 seconds. Time to give up and place the unit and its parts in the "suspect spares" bin. 😕

I've recently purchased a Chinese diesel hearer. I've found one thing that can cause an E10 error is using too small Guage wire. I connected it to my 12 volt batter that was approximately 30 feet away using 18 awg wire. Everything appeared to be normal until I realized that the fuel pump wouldn't run with the voltage drop caused by too small of wire. After I ran 12 awg wire Everything was fine until my battery got too low and caused a E8 error. For best results, If possible connect the battery using the supplied short cable else use 12 awg wire and keep the distance as short as possible. Don't use a power supply or ac to dc converter. You can use a battery with a trickle charger without any errors.

Just another thing worth mentioning for E01 that I've just fixed - I accidentally plugged the heater into 240v(the plug was identical to the one that goes into the unit and the transformer) and I fried the unit. After replacing the circuit board I was now getting E01 error despite there being enough voltage & amps for the unit. In my case, I had to replace the display/control which removed the E01 error. Goes without saying, don't plug 240v into a 12v unit!

Great video. I am getting an E05 error when the heater does not even run. The heaeter fan will not initiate and this error code 05 is permanantly showing on the display. I have tried re powering the heater and that does not fix anything. Could it be a thermostat issue? Heater cannot be overheating if it is not evening turning on? Any advice to resolve this. E-01 error code on a Chinese diesel heater will also come up if the octane rating of the fuel is too low (ie if you have veg oil in the mix) and it will refuse to fire up from cold as a result, shutting down and throwing the code along with a fuel icon. Its important if you do run mixed fuel, that you always run straight diesel or kerosene at full pelt shortly before shutting it down (and when starting) to purge the fuel line of any oil and to clean the glow plug. These heaters are less fussy when hot and will happily burn a mixture. When cold its a different story. If you do end up with a mixed tank and unable to start it, you have to syphon the tank contents as much as you can, replenish with a measure of neat diesel or kerosene, attempt to start it a few times and once it does, get it up to temperature quickly and then put back what you drained out. Restarting will create a cloud of smoke until all the oil is burnt off through heater and exhaust but should soon settle down. A solution is to have a switch-over tap so you can switch between mixed and straight fuel sources to avoid this. E-01 error is nearly always low power from battery or transformer - EXCEPT when it also displays the fuel icon. In this case its telling you its unable to ignite the rough fuel rather than having power issues, but will still throw an E-01 code. Hope it helps someone!

Hey I am getting e01 but it is from my boats diesel tank. It’s been working fine but it’s currently extra cold. I am getting a small voltage drop of about 0.4 v once started. On the remote it shows a fuel symbol so I am wondering is it because the system is too cold and the small voltage drop is not able to get it going? Thanks in advance

3:22 yes, but doesn't the fan needs to start spinning in order for the ECU to recognize the magnets? I don't believe the ECU is going to recognize the magnets if they're not spinning past the receiver. Mine, I received was popping an E-06 code, fan not recognized. Internet says once you give it power, the fan will spin up, o wake the ECU up, I presume by creating a magnetic field. Excellent video, Many Thanks Only thing I can add is another problem with the soft walled fuel line. (I suppose its academic really as you wisely advised us to chuck the soft walled pipe so we wouldn't be using it anyway.) It absorbs the pressure from the pump so the fuel leaves the jet is a dribble so it won't burn. Instead of a series of spurts which is neccessary to vapourise the fuel so it burns.

It has been working well for 2 years but few days ago started showing E10. The lithium house battery voltage is 13V and fully charged and the display of the diesel heater shows 13V. So that's good. When I start the diesel heater the fan is starting first and slowly the display of the diesel heater shows the voltage to drop from 13V to 9V and then shows the error E10 and shuts down. The Li ion battery display continues to show 13V during all this time and the LED lights are working fine, the fridge also working fine, so no issue with the power coming from the Li ion battery. The heater needs 12V to start so something is happening and does not get the minimum 12V needed from the battery or the heater "believes" does not have 12V. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@vanlifesurvivorsguide2 жыл бұрын
What you are describing sounds like either volt drop or damaged battery. Well this happens when the cells are damaged in a lead acid battery but i'm not sure if it happens with lithium though but you could get it oad tested and see if anything is wrong with it. And this is also what happens with volt drop but as you said it has been working fine for 2 years so the cable is obviously thick enough to work without problem. Another thing that can cause volt drop is if you have gone to a fuse box instead of directly to a battery and the cables going to the fuse box are not thick enough to carry the load for everything attached. so if you have added something new to the fuse box or are using stuff at the same time than normal. Do you have a split charge system? have you tried starting it with the van running?
@angelosdovletoglou69112 жыл бұрын
@@vanlifesurvivorsguide Thank you for the reply. I use a fuse box and has been working fine. I have not added something new to the fuse box. I have a split charge system, so the 2 Li ion batteries (170Ah each) are charged when I run the engine of the van. I also tried to start the diesel heater with the engine running, but I got the same error and low voltage issue. Also, per your suggestion, how do I load test the Li ion batteries to see if anything is wrong with it? During this process of starting the heater as the display of the heater drops from 13V slowly down to 9V, the display of the Li ion battery stays at 13V and with all the LED lights on, I do not see any flickering of the lights to suggest that the batteries are not working properly. I am wondering if the electronic controller inside the diesel heater is not working properly and when I start the heater it malfunctions and "reads" low voltage and then it shuts down. I am thinking to replace the diesel heater with a new one. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Great video, but what is a solution to E 10 then? It seems I have overprimed my heater. It blows only cool air, does not heat up, then it gives E 10. Second question: Does it really make much difference if the pump is gravity fed? I was planning to tap into the main diesel tank, meaning that the fuel would be about 30 cm below the pump...
@vanlifesurvivorsguide2 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry I have only just seen this. No the pump doesn't need to be gravity fed as they push and pull so suck the fuel from the tank and pump it out the other side. E10 it depends on what it was that gave you the mulitple failed attempts but if it is flooded...

the best thing to do if you have over primed it is take the fuel line off of the bottom of the heater put it into something (so you don't get diesel everywhere) and try and start it without the fuel line attached a couple of times

@@vanlifesurvivorsguide I repeat - this video is a life saver. Thanks to you I got the darn thing up and running. Now I just need to lower the fuel tank and drill through the sender (VW T5). My only advice for everyone is to avoid using clamps on the fuel line connections (either the Chinese or sourced locally) unless you get the clamps that remain perfectly round when tightened. I replaced the Chinese once with better quality ones but they became oval when tightened, which caused leakage and resulted in another error. What worked for me then is cutting an reinforced rubber fuel cable to short pieces, and plugging the hard nylon line directly to that, without any clamps, just used a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid to slide it in and seal it. Now I think of replacing all joints with the same solution. Or throwing the nylon line away and replace it with the proper stuff entirely.

Hi Nick, hoping you can help me. My heater was working perfectly and then I moved all the wires to make it tidier and since doing so it keeps tripping out every time I switch it on. I’m not getting any code error but the Fuse Icon is there now. Display is on but as soon as I turn heater on it blows the fuse breaker. I have the heater running off the cable that is connected to my main fuse box (as heater is on other side of the van where the battery is). I’ve checked the cables and they all seem correct. Heater was working perfectly before I disconnected the cables and moved them to get them out of sight. I didn’t add any cable as it didn’t need extending. So the exact same cables are still in place. Hoping your have a fix for me 🙏❤️🙏

Hi my diesel heater is only two days old and been working fine but now the pump as stopped pumping and the error code E08 and E10 keep appearing. I’ve installed it correctly. Could you please give any advice as the instruction manual is impossible to understand and my controller is different to manual ! In the top left my setting button is a spanner icon ! And the function’s are different to any KZbin videos. This is how I came across yours. Can you help please. Tony

Yeah that sounds like you have a vevor 5kw controller. The problem will either be the fuel system or the air intake. It is quite a hard one to diagnose over youtube comments though. Are you on facebook?

Where can you get the correct white tube to replace the green?
Great vid, went to my van and the heater was blowing cold (obviously not shut down properly after last use) I press and hold the off button but it doesn't work and won't turn off, shows error code 1, had to disconnect the leisure battery to stop it blowing, any info greatly received if you have any ideas? TIA 👍🏻

Hi mate, yeah that sounds like error code 9 from the video. The heat sensor needs replacing and costs about £6 and takes about 5 mins to change. I think the e01 error code in this case will be a red herring as e01 is a low power error code and your heater is working.

Hi, are you running it in HZ mode or temp mode? there are 2 different modes and you need to be in the correct one if you want to set a desired temp. Please see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnXUZaWNmt6lrJo

I have come across your channel and subscribed. I just installed my second diesel heater in my camper. It has the same controller and set up as the one I got two years ago. I have watched your videos on starting up the heater. Setting the temperature, etc. I had to extend my exhaust about 5 feet to reach the ground as my camper is very large but this was not a problem with the first heater. The first few times trying to test it I got a E 4 error. This eventually went away. When I tried to start up it would not let me set the date or select the desired temperature, The standard display shows P 13. I think the 13 is volts but I am not sure what the P IS. There is also a temperature showing in the top left corner which I think is the temperature in the room. The only way I can get it to run is to hit the power button. This gives me a selection using the up and down arrows of H1 to H5, which seems to control the temperature. I get a small corresponding chart on the bottom that adds bars as the H value increases. Wen it finally ran it was showing me a temperature readout going past 100 degrees quickly climbing to 170 degrees at which point I shut it off. Lofs of white smoke was being produced. My previous heater shows the current time and lets me scroll up and down to select the desired temperature up to about 35 Celcius. I am using 12 V power and I am assuming the heater came set up for 12 V. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Yeah this controller just works differently. The p does indeed meed volts so you do have 13v. the high temp is the heater body temp rather than the heat you want the van to be this is normal. It only has 5 different heat settings on this model h1-h5. And the smoke will just be that it has been over primed and will clear after a while thats not a problem either

@@vanlifesurvivorsguide Thank you for the. answer. I would really like to set it up for temperature in degrees C and just set the temp and turn it on like the other heater. I dont feel confident its working the way it should. I put it on low heat on a hot day and it would not shut off. I am not quite sure what to do.

@@josephalberta1145 To do that you would need to change the controller and motherboard. Then it should work the same as your old one. This is the one you will need amzn.to/43pjPVH

@@vanlifesurvivorsguide Thank you very much for the information. I was hoping there would be something I can do in settings but when I hit the top left button nothing happens. I cant set the time or the reading to Celcius. I will look into the boards if no luck. Have a great day.

I have tried with a charger hooked to the battery. The motorcycle battery is only a year old and I also tried it with the charger on it. It is putting out 12.3 V. The other battery is old and that may be a problem. I'll try it from my truck.. Can the E2 error code be overridden?

The magnets on the fan do not "make contact with the sensor" - they need to have a tiny clearance of 1 or 2 mm!

Just got a diesel heater as a gift. Installed everything and it flashes e04. All the trouble shooting you suggested did nothing. Did I just got a defective pump? Any other suggestions?

I keep getting the E 10 code. Maybe I over primed it, I’m not really sure. The tubing that came with the heater actually didn’t fit on any of the things it had to, so I got thick black fuel line, but it’s not rigid. Also the fuel line coils a little bit before it gets to the pump, And then at some point I also had some red symbol in the heater and I thought maybe that was a glow plug… Any ideas? Would love your feedback… Thank you
@vanlifesurvivorsguide3 жыл бұрын
Hi sorry, we have only just seen this message. So you would have gotten a small amount of the black tube and some rigid fuel line in the kit. You cut the small black tube into 6 equal lengths and use that to connect all the equipment with the rigid fuel line. If you watch through the video again you will see what we i am talking about especially when it gets to error code 8
