Hi Explorer 867, just watched your YT. 2 yrs later. You fitted a CARBON MONOXIDE METER inside your sleep area behind you.My recommendation is to fit it LOWER than your head when asleep as CO is heavier than Air, it is a Silent KILLER, I'm a Fire Fighter in Australia & had to respond to CO poisoning in an enclosed boat from cooking, the people survived just, 20mins later would be fatal. GREAT YT. Cheers form Down Under Explorer

Thanks Kevin, I had fun installing this heater and it really was a breeze. Only challenge was finding a place to fit it in the pickup camper canopy. The heat is warm and dry with the heater only using 144ml diesel per hour on the 2hz setting. Thank you for watching our video and leaving your comment. Take care

This little heater works perfectly thus far. The install was painless, well it did hurt drilling holes in the bed of the old 96er but other than that no pain LOL. If you do get one of these diesel heaters before you do the install bench test it for a few hours to make sure there's no problems with unit. I have had no issues with exhaust entering the camper as the exhaust pipe exits to the side of the truck. I never sleep with the heater running and always have a working smoke and o2 alarm mounted inside camper or heated enclosed space. This is how I decided to mount my heater and exhaust pipe, I'm not a professional diesel heater installer and would recommend you consult a professional. Have a great day

Nice install and it will be interesting to hear your thoughts on it after you've had it awhile. On a different note, a few weeks ago I sent you my email address because I had wanted to dialogue with you on your insulating of the shell. Gary, I will review the heater after we've used it for a few months and post another video. The insulation is 1" closed cell foam with Reflectix. I measured each section and cut it to fit tight then taped each section in using Reflectix foil tape. This isn't a fun job but is worth the effort. I want to install this in my small teardrop, can you run this heater the whole night on a single 12v deep cycle without ruining the battery?? Does this heater uses a lot of electricity??? Will it kill my battery for a 9 hours of sleep????
@explorer867

These don't use much power as I have stated in the video so depending on your battery it should. I never recommend that anyone ever sleep with these Chinese diesel heaters on, and get yourself a good o2 and smoke detector also just for safety. Thanks for asking

question: The opposite end of the heater where the heat does not come out, how far away from a wall does it have to be? Or how much clearance of space around the heater is required?

@@johnwessinger7768 Hi John, I'm not saying the way I installed my heater is the correct way to do it, or that you should do it my way, you need to work out the details for yourself and application. Now that said 2" on the sides and 4" behind cabin air intake. I'm not trying to be evasive just CYA here. I'm really enjoying my heater and have used it now for almost a year. @@johnwessinger7768 John, I have done two upgrades that aren't pictured in the videos. @@davetoms63 David, I don't have a AC unit planned for our trailer thus far. What I have done and you can see it in my videos is place a maxair fan in the roof.
