Chinese Type 24 Mauser - Chiang Kai Shek

These are the Chinese made Mauser rifles of the German Standard Model 1933 . Originally Type 24 Chinese Mausers , later they were called
Chaing Kai Shek rifles or Zhong Zheng Shi. They are in the 8mm caliber . The rifles were produce at several different arsenals

cartouche on the other gun seems to be ”碭山縣公“, meaning Dangshan county public service, probably belongs to local people's militia

I think the Chinese means the rifle belongs to the army controlled by the warlord Yan Xi Shan , the first 2 characters (from left to right) means Xi Shan, the next 2 characters practically means Provincial Governor or something like that. Yan is a strong anti-communist supporter, he practically ruled the Shan-Xi province til the fall of the Republic to Communist rule.

I was given a Chinese 98 from my father here in the UK it's unfortunately been deactivated but I do like it. I also have a k98k WWII in my collection. Thanks for the information 👍

I am glad the video helped . Besides the Chinese Mauser being deactivated can you shot the other rifles you have ?I have vz24 Chinese contract rifle coming , that I will do a video on , also a couple months ago I acquired a Hanyang 88 rifle . Before I make videos of them I will be doing videos that I did on my 5 gun preview video .

I had the opportunity to buy one of these for $250 maybe 4 or 5 years back. It was in pretty decent shape, but you could tell by the stock, it definitely had plenty of battle scars. I had to pass it up because money was tight at the time, but in hindsight I wish I'd just bought the damn thing. I'll probably never have the opportunity to own a reasonably priced Kar98 or K98 variant like that again in my life.

When I came across these rifles , I wasn’t looking for them , they were posted under 7mm Spanish Mauser rifles . I bought the two Chinese and the Spanish for $600.00. I am patient & always looking , because you never know . I have acquired a Hanyang 88 , in decent condition and a Vz 24 , Chinese contract rifle that in the future I will be doing videos on . Save a little here & there & keep looking

Mandarin and Cantonese have the same written script. It's just different regional dialects.

I acquired a Hanyang 88 a little while back . I have not had time to check it out and clean it . I have not decided yet , if I am willing to shoot it , depends on what it all looks like when I check it out . Also , today , I picked up a Czech made vz24 , dated 1937 , Chinese contract Mauser , need to inspect that one also. Thanks for watching my video and your comment

I am not sure , that is something I need to check . I do have a 1938 German Mauser to compare them too . Also I need to do some reading in the book I now have on the Chinese Mausers

Thanks for the video. It is really good. I just got one last week and it is missing a firing pin. Don’t know if I can shoot it or not once I replace the broken pin.

It should not be to hard to get a replacement firing pin . I always clean & check the bore first . Disassemble to see about cosmoline , rust or pitting . I load one bullet and fire it without my face behind the bolt . Remove the spent casing and check for bulged casing and check the primer before I get behind my rifle to actually shoot . Safety first

@@jeesgan5075 I purchased them from Gunbroker . They were listed under 7mm Spanish Mauser rifle . If the three rifles one was a 7mm Spanish rifle and said he didn’t know what the other two were . I won all three for $600.00 . I talk about them in my rifle haul video

@@milsurprifleguy7091 I replaced the firing pin and test fire, of 10 bullets, only one fire, the rest seems to have light strike. I don’t know what else I need to change.

@@jeesgan5075 not knowing what you have & have not done . First disassemble the bolt , remove everything and give it a good cleaning , check inside the bolt body where the firing pin and spring are to make sure it is clean . Also are you using new ammo or surplus ammo ?

I didn’t know the Chinese made mausers. Surprised they used mosin nagant after using mausers.

The Chinese Nationalist party were using them , they were in conflict with Japan from 1931 . Also Mao Tse Tung , communist Chinese Party , was a up & coming figure with support from Russia . So it was a three way conflict each side fighting each other . After the war ended in 1945 and the Japanese gone , it was a civil war till Chiang Kai Shek went to Taiwan and the Communist Chinese were in control of China

Surprisingly you don’t see many video’s on this rifle, I have one dated 1946 and I love mine, miss matching bolt that needs very little work but it’s one of my best milsurps I have in my collection

I don’t think there is a lot of them , it seems that most are pretty well beat up & shot of barrels . It does seem like they are on the low end of collecting , since making this video I now have a Hanyang 88 and a Cz 24 Chinese contract made rifle . Is your rifle in shootable condition ?

Possibly , I did quite a bit of research on them before I put any ammo through them . There were smaller “ Warlord arsenals “ which where not made the best . The one does have a known Arsenal marking on it . I do try to keep myself as safe as possible when shooting any older firearm . Thank you for watching & your comment

True , I know the one rifle is from September of 1944 . Maybe not so much used against the Japanese , the rifle would have been used in the Chinese Civil War , the Nationalist Chinese against the Communist Chinese. Did these then go with the Nationalist to Taiwan ? Both are import marked by Century Arms , wish I could find out where Century imported them from . Thanks for watching my video and commenting

I do not not know , I bought them on gun broker in a lot of 3 , the other rifle a Spanish Mauser . The rifles are interesting and the one is more used / older
