Chirer Polao-Bengali Poha with Fresh Winter Veggies-Easy Breakfast or Snack Recipe

Chire'r or chira'r polao is a quick, simple and delicious dish that is commonly served as a snack or breakfast in Bengali homes. Chira is the Bengali word for flattened rice, known variously as pohe in Marathi, aval in Tamil and Malayalam, etc. Chira is an affordable staple all over India. While the Bengali chire'r polao may not occupy the glorious place that kande pohe occupies in Marathi households, it is loved nonetheless and is ideal for school tiffin boxes just as fresh winter vegetables such as cauliflower, peas and carrots start to make an appearance in the bazar.

I’m from Pune, we have a variant of this dish that I eat almost three to four times a week for breakfast, known as dadpe pohe. We use grated coconut, and a lot of coriander. We also sprinkle a generous amount of coconut water and lime juice on the poha to moisten them initially. Peanuts are also a must in this dish, they add another texture to poha. I loved this video. খুব favourite জলখাবার, আগে বানিয়েছি, কিন্তু রসুন আর কারিপাতা বাদ দিয়েই চিড়ের পোলাও করা হয়। বাকি পুরো টাই এমন। তবে আমরা এই dish টা পুরো নিরামিষ করি, মানে পেঁয়াজ ও দিই না। দেখতে কিন্তু খুব ভালো লাগলো। জল ঝরানোর টেকনিক টা শেখা গেল।

I am regular follower of your channel. I am always waiting for a new recipe from you. Infact I cook only from your list of recipes since I am learning how to cook and your channel teaches explicitly, starting from cleaning to the right way of folding. I love the way you people do it. The lovely, authentic bengali recipes with the perfect background music and detailed photography. Its perfect! There is just one problem I would like to share. If you can also give the measure in terms of bowl/teaspoon/tablespoon along with the weights it would be really helpful since I do not have the suitable weighing machines. Anyways seriously I am just fond of your channel and refer it to anyone who likes bengali food. I hope you two continue to surprise us with many more delicious recipes from bengal.
