I have read all these books. Bluebird,Bluebird is excellent. Attica Locke can really write. Propulsive, strong sense of place. Lila , much more literary and more serious read, as you noted it is within a series of books

Hoffman is a favorite for me. Locke is definitely phenomenal and I love Bluebird. But Seabiscuit gets my vote. It’s one of the best nonfiction books I’ve ever read. Hillenbrand has a chronic illness and has only written two books. They’re both phenomenal. ❤

Love Alice Hoffman books - particularly The Dovekeepers about the siege at Masada. I find that Maralyn Robinson is a writer who needs time but she is tremendous. So I suggest you try either. Thanks for your channel Marilyn.

Seventh Heaven by Alice Hoffman is an amazing and beautiful book. I have read it a few times over the years because I loved it. If you’re a fan of her early work, you will enjoy it.

Bluebird Bluebird is fantastic! I am not a fan of Alice Hoffman's writing. Marilynn Robinson is a wonderful writer. Her books are slow and thoughtful. I have read one and it was good but it was just so slow for me.

I picked up Lila and read about seven pages and had the feeling it was going to be a slow read. Sometimes into slow books, but I have to be in the mood.
