Several years ago I resigned from my position as a tenured university professor. My colleagues thought I was crazy. I just couldn't do it anymore. I loved my students but was exhausted by the politics of higher education. I moved from a large US city to a small southern town. I now live on 1/4 of what I used to live on. I work part-time and have time to hike, bake, and read. It's amazing how little I really need. Thank you for such wonderful videos.

This was filmed in South Africa in Swellendam. This is so beautiful and inspiring. As a Zulu girl in the city life, chasing a career...i have to say, its a miserable existence. I am literally sitting in my car at work as i type this. Every time i enter the office, life just leaves me. I am gathering the strength to not quit and drive straight to Ixobho to my grandmother and start a new life. I am 31, i can still do it.😢

I've been in a divine isolation season for almost 2 years now. Whenever I go out "in the world," I can see how I've grown as a person. I'm 55, but I was raised by a overt & a covert narcissist, and after they died, my "Golden Child" sister thought she was gonna treat me like my Mother did. My dad died in 2004, and after I helped put my mother's casket in the back of that hearse on October 29, 2016; my healing started. I haven't talked to my sister in years. I forgave her for "me." But life has taught me that Not Every Act Of Forgiveness Comes With A Reconciliation Clause. This Peace I have today is precious, and I protect it by any means. Keep pushin' yall! 💪🏾

I can so relate to what you have said I was raised by a Narcissist When I was in my early 30’s my eyes were slowly opened to what that means and how it affected who I was and the decisions I made I still unfortunately continued to make decisions that were based on how I was raised And married 2 Narcissists over the years I am 61 and finally free of them but have had to pick up the broken pieces of my life and heart to start over Freedom and Peace are everything I’m doing much better but it’s a “one day at a time “ life which how we are supposed to live I’m grateful and thankful for all of the small things and each day is a blessing My heart goes out to everyone who has either been raised and/or married to a Narcissist Please get free so you can finally enjoy your life and every day that you are blessed with Love to all of you It is a journey ❤

Good for you. You discovered who you are, what you want and need. Sometimes.... that Golden Child becomes Scapegoat, too. Neither had an 'escape' or way to effectively be less likely subject to hidden or overt neglects, the mercies of perfectionism, people pleasing and/or being a part of what was to not be individuated, seen, heard - to belong. Can be so painful to see how the effect ricochets as role models gain/lose attention and ultimately individuals being seen as 'less than' or 'not enough'. May your quietude embrace you and you be free to be...as you truly are meant to be. BlesSings on the journey 💜

Last January I suffered a nervous breakdown as a result of stress from confinement and stress from work. I felt totally destroyed, suddenly I couldn't function in the everyday world. Fortunately I found a doctor who did not prescribe medication to anesthetize me. He prescribed me sleep, walk in the mountains and respect my biological rhythm. It was wonderful listening to Beneke de Wet..He speaks the same language as William Henry Davies: His poem " Leisure" What is this life, if full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs, And stare as long as sheep and cows. No time to see when woods we pass, Where the squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see in broad daylight, Streams full of stars like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life, that is full of care We have no time to stand and stare. ........................................................... Thank you Green Renaissance for this wonderful video.

What a visual treat this was! My heart definitely longs for a quiet life that Beneke mentions and is living. Thank you so much for sharing! I currently live in a suburb of a large city in the States, distant traffic a constant hum; sirens, helicopters, car stereos booming as they drive by in the neighborhood. As I type this my two granddaughters whom I care for part time are napping. The house is closed up for a springtime chill in the air. But I hear a bird's song. There are so many small things we can do when life hasn't given us the opportunity to get away from the 'concrete jungle.' I have recently added a birds song channel to my Pandora and I listen to it often, even in the shower. It's like I'm a million miles away with the sounds of a rain forest or a thunderstorm or the swallow's song near the water. Learning to quiet one's inner life even as the outward is so noisy is something I am now considering to be a gift!

Beautiful film, well done. Sometimes I judge a person by one standard, "Would I want to live next door to this person?" I would probably enjoy living next door to this man. He is capable of self-reflection, capable of determining his place on this planet in relation to the rest of society, content not to get caught up in a frantic world.

What a delightful gentleman. That was such a soothing video. Since my husband died 16 months ago I live alone quite isolated in the country. We bought here 40 years ago. We were married 58 years. It is taking me a while to getting used to being on my own as due to medical misadventure I can no longer walk alone. At the same time I like peace and quiet and reading and watching my iPad. I wish though I friend like that sweet man. I send him good wishes from way down under.

This man is beautiful inside and outside. When he said "you live within the limit that you set for yourself" I felt very touched. I've built these big limits around me. It's my mistake, I have always wanted to live like that, I still want it, but I'm always afraid. I'm a man older than him, but he is definitely more mature and wiser than me. I'm happy he's so free.

I find it absolutely magical how you're able to find people with the most beautiful of hearts and minds and get to have a 'heart-to-heart' with them. These videos seem to burst with the most incredible quotes from all the people who take part in them and i can't help but feel a sense of calm knowing there are still people like Beneke who exist in a world that seemingly only gives stress and anxiety. Thank you for putting in so much effort, these videos are true masterpieces!

It has now been almost 8 years since I left my career that had a 24/7/365 working mindset and expectation. I am so grateful that I realized at 42 that there was more out there and a life of less was the better path. In that time I discovered solitary time (days on end) in the mountains, my life has not been the same since....and all for the better. Thank-you for sharing this video.

I feel this deeply. I’ve reached a stage in this lifetime in which I opened my eyes, then I opened my eyes again. Finding the beauty and joy in the minutest of things of the most mundane nature is becoming a talent. Shutting the door on fear, hate and pain is a challenge that I didn’t know that I was up for. The location of this film, and many others, is absolutely breathtaking. It is not what one typically thinks of when thinking of South Africa. I feel the travel bug scratching…

Wow this was utterly beautiful. spoke directly to my soul and my personal experience.
