My gosh Jonathan, I count my lucky stars that I subscribed to you a while back, After watching your video,, yes,, I do understand and it makes perfect since.. But I also need to comment on your mind blowing arrangement at the beginning of this video. Absolutely beautiful Sir, absolutely beautiful... Your timing is perfect and flawless, and your choice of arrangement is something truly to behold, The music that lives within you and that you are able to bring to us through your playing is such a wonderful gift to listen to. After the first couple seconds of listening and watching, it became mesmerizing both visually and audibly.. My gosh, thank you so much, and again I count my lucky stars to have found your channel.

Great video Jonathan! Thanks for sharing! Keep that instructional content coming! One tip, if you allow me: you mentioned that dynamics is so important, and I agree 100%. So I would suggest you make videos about theory and 'fretboard navigation', but also exercises (perhaps usable licks?) to develop dynamics in our playing. For example: you play certain licks that make my jaw drop (but waaay too fast); it would be great to see that lick slowed down, explained and then left for us to apply against our backing tracks. Like, little drops of knowledge. It would save me the trouble of slowing down your videos to 1/4 speed and spending days figuring them out from a theory perspective (yeah I'm lazy). :) Great playing and great content as usual!

Jonathan, I received the FUSION ll ( lastest version), I set it up, gave it the once over, and she plays beautifully!! The neck, apart from being a tad beefier than my Fender Stratocaster, I actually got lucky, the toasted flame on the rear is gorgeous, flamed on the entire neck! AND if that wasn't enough, the thick slab of fretboard has curly burly maple on about 2/4's of the front!!!! I wasn't expecting that! :-) I was also pleasantly surprised with how it sounds, and feels... I keep the humbucking switch on mostly, as the volume change and delivery is very noticeable... problem is Can't put the darn thing down, I REALLY love it actually for use as a humbucker guitar. I will say this though, NOTHING compares to my single coil FENDER STRATOCASTER, I find this guitar to be the very best in being versatile, and having that tone... My 11year old Stratocaster is a gem, and would never part with it. But the FUSION ll, is so much fun to play, and the frets and toasted neck is tops!! But, sorry to say that it beats my L.P. humbucking sound without a doubt, surprising I know... I JUST loved your tasteful playing on that White Stratocaster, sounded wonderful. :-) :-) :-)

Interesting concept Jonathan. Personally I've always used scales when soloing, and learning how to play them all over the fretboard, however it's good to use the chord shapes too if you are playing chords and melody at the same time, which comes with time and experience. The same could be said for scale patterns, there are different ways to play them. I suppose we are all different and it's good to try as many methods as possible to find out what works out for you the best. You're sounding great as always, thanks for posting this.

hi Jon, you know there are many nice backing tracks on youtube but they sometimes don't show you the chords but just tell you the Key centre. How would you approach these tracks without knowing the chords?
@JonIsJustTooLoud
@JonIsJustTooLoud 4 жыл бұрын
Kinda hard to explain.. but hey you know what? Just play what you will usually play in that Key.. and just listen out to the chord changes.. and with your way around them with notes that makes melodic sense. And if you make a mistake, just wait for the next round.. after all that’s what backing tracks are for..

When you mentioned Larry Carlton, I understood who influenced your solo fingering style. When soloing, I see Larry C. mostly uses 3 fingers, with the pinky finger bolstering other fingers during bends. I watched him do a blues solo, and his fingers and hands looked like you were the one playing. You've picked some great players to be influenced by Jonathan. I've always liked Larry C's playing. Now I think I'll watch and listen much closer. The video of Larry Carlton that I watched is kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ24l2SmpdSGfZY
