Hey gang! Leave it to me to screw something up, During 'KIller Wolf' I said that chord change during the bluesy verse section was G5-G6, but that was incorrect. It's G5-Gadd9 (the Bb is moving to A on the G string). I'm not sure what I was thinking there. I played it right but said it wrong. My mouth gets me in a lot of trouble. Sorry 'bout the mouth typo! : ) ROCK ON!

Im sure the majority of people the g6 (E)/add 9(A) flew over their heads its one thing doing bad tab / sheet and another playing the right chord but calling the wrong chord

Thank you for this lesson. It's crazy how few guitar lessons there are covering the John Christ era of Danzig. He's a great guitarist, and his riffs and solos with Glenn's vocals are up there as one of the greatest combos of all time.

I feel compelled to leave an additional comment! I think you need a volume two of this that still focuses on those first two albums. 🙏🙏🙏 So many great songs, “She Rides” as just one example is so badass. 🎃 I have a John Christ pick from back in the day, great freaking show. Subscribed!

Every John Christ riff I learn is fun to play and something I’d never think of on my own yet it’s obvious and undeniable it’s simplicity will have you face palming why didn’t I come up with that riff. I think the first Danzig line up were great at checking anyone over playing and it gives the songs room to really breathe and groove, sometimes it’s the parts you don’t play.

@brandonjackson5865 I always say it takes a special kind of talent to write "simple but effective" riffs. We as guitarists tend to always over think and over complicate things
@brandonjackson5865
@brandonjackson5865 Жыл бұрын
@@awguitarroom8033 yeah I can remember thinking this thing I came up with can’t be cool because it’s too easy to play lol or I thought drop D was cheating even though Eddie Van Halen used dropped D al be it completely different than people used it in the mid 90s , but yeah definitely it’s about the songs and sometimes less is more I think it takes a confidant and mature player to not automatically think I need to add more or do something that’ll impress my guitar playing friends.

John Christ is GOD 🤘 The tone and feel on the records with JC are great, I remember hearing the first Danzig album as a kid and being mesmerized. How the Gods Kill album is great as well. Lots of cool guitar on that one too.

"In My Grip" by early Samhain has great chords! Glenn Danzig was friends with "Famous Monsters of Filmland" editor Forry Ackerman. And the Misfits used the "Famous Monsters" font, for their logo, with Forry's blessing!

Yeah! Twist of Cain . Really dig John’s approach to guitar with Danzig it’s perfect for the band and no one else really plays like he does. Most of its fairly simple but incredibly clever when you learn it the dude must not think like your average guitar player. I think Her Black Wings is my favorite Danzig song. I slept on Danzig for a long time. I always loved the Misfits of course but Mother got burnt out for me, it’s a great tune no doubt but it was everywhere. I remember really liking the Can’t Speak video and song for some reason but I really just started getting into especially the first two albums when I created a Misfits station on Pandora and slowly it became a Danzig station because I was thumbs up more Danzig songs than anything else. I discovered another band I would have never listen to in a million years and they kinda fit the season too and that’s The 69 Eyes I found them though my Type O Negative Pandora station and they are kinda glam goth I don’t really know but songs like The Chair is about something really dark but it’s a beautiful song and Wages of Sin just rocks. I never hear anyone else talk about the 69 Eyes but they definitely belong in a hallway play list along with Danzig.
