I booked Kyuss opening for Faith No More at Chico State - huge fan, first time seeing them - they killed it. Booked them many times after. Thanks for this

I discovered Kyuss in early nineties and really loved the band, they were fresh, original and they were making good music just for the love of it, not for commercial glory. My humble opinion.

First thing I ever heard from them was “ Thong Song” and I’ll have to admit I wasn’t really into it. Couple of months later, I saw them open for Danzig and they absolutely won me over. Been a fan ever since. And although I’ve learned almost all of their songs over the past 30 years I’ve still got to say that this is a really great video, David… One of your best yet. Thanks for the great content and keep up the good work… All the best!

I guess the bands pentagram and down will be the next lessons coming up? Most people don't even know who is buzz osbourne which is pretty shocking or that dinosaur jr started in the early 80's and don't know that both of those bands would have never been a nirvana with out the melvins and dinosaur jr to influence grunge music. Kyuss and down are just a modern version of what pentagram was going in the early 70's but dinosaur jr was doing grunge in the 80's before nirvana which nirvana was "a hybrid" of the melvins, dinosaur jr, mudhoney, kyuss, with catchy pop hooks added, etc

Buzz and Dale are both 2 of my favorite musicians/influences, especially the first several Melvins albums (Ozma, Gluey Porch Treatments, Bullhead, 10 Songs).

I’ve never chased any of his tones but I love the mindset he uses, where it seems the twists turns and hidden quirks aren’t so much to highlight his guitar playing….but to bring more depth etc into the song structure and overall feel….

Thanks for the lesson, much interesting. Catamaran is a cover, it's a song by Yawning Man. Hence the quiet melodic line. You should check their other stuff, Yawning Man's guitarist Gary Arce is a great player.

They dropped some pretty good albums in the last few years. Instrumental stuff.

great lesson! Kyuss is awesome! I love c-standard tuning. My Les Paul is left at that tuning premanently for at least 3-4 years now. Btw another band that uses C standard tuning is Goatwhore with former Acid bath guitarist Sammy Duet and former Soilent Green vocalist Ben Falgoust. love to see a "Chords of Goatwhore" lesson ;)

20:40 For that extra heavy tone. 🙃 Seriously, that's great for strengthening the weakest finger. I used to make up tapping riffs to play using just both pinkies.

Have you ever considered doing a chordplay/riffage of Clutch? Maybe do 10001110101, Spacegrass and whatever else you'd want to do? As always, Love your channel and your playing Dave! You freakin' rock! ❤️🎸🤟😜🤟❤️🎵 Edit: I just saw your list of bands using the C tuning, and I forgot about old Hevy Devy! It would be even more phenomenal if you would do a Chordplay of SYL, as well!

Can you do an Elder chordplay episode? I love all there albums but “dead roots stirring” and “Lore” are probably my favourite.

Awesome, so do you think heavy strings on normal scale is the way to go vs baritone long scale for down tuning? What are your thoughts. Could you play the same things on a baritone with wider fret spacing? Thank you
